Very fun game with some interesting changes to the formula. I went in a bit sceptical (granted, I always buy the new Pokemon game and I'm only partway through) but it surprised me how much I enjoyed it. Sapphire was my first Pokemon, and I'm usually not as big a fan of the newer titles, but I have enjoyed the new mechanics, Pokemon, and characters. The reason it gets 4 and not 5 stars comes down to the clear lack of graphical power on the switch (which is only partially the game's fault) and the lack of voice acting. It's high time they have voice acting in Pokemon games. There are long portions of music while people emote and you have to sit there and read. Not ideal. Overall this is a fun game, and I think it would be a good title for someone just starting out as well as returning players.

If you can look past all of the bugs and performance issues, this is probably the best Pokémon game since Black and White. However, I’d hold off on buying it until it is fixed, it’s pathetic of them to release the game at this state.

The game seems fun but has bugs and runs pretty badly on my Switch. Pokemon fall through the world, the camera freaks out during battles, my character moves in slow motion often, it's laggy/choppy, characters and Pokemon just pop into existence right in front of you, and things are hard to see due to the pixelated graphics. I had to stop playing after about 8 hours because all of that was getting in the way of it being fun. Too bad I can't return it, I wouldn't have bought it had I known how bad it was. Now I'm sitting here hoping that it'll get patched so I can give it another try. Sad day.

Its the best pokemon game so far as dar as the gameplay when its running well. The reason it loses a star is frame rate and pop in are aweful. And distracting. But the game is really fun and would be perfect except for those teo issues

Honeslty perfomance asside the game is one of the most enjoyable pokemon games to come out on the switch . Good mechanics and the world feels lived in. Paldea and gen 9 feel alive and i really enjoyed battling the gym leaders!

Game freak has done it again! Overall a would-be great game, spoiled by outdated graphics, glitches, poor textures, and inexplicable game crashes. The art style of the game is great; true to what Pokémon has become known for. The game mechanics work as expected, and the game alone is a lot of fun. This game, however, is plagued by frame rate drops when too much is happening, or if you're too far away from a moving object it looks choppy. The grass gym test was a nightmare, as there is "too much" being processed at once. Hopefully they fix these issues with patches and updates; but Game freak isn't exactly known for actually caring about their fans.

It has a few bugs and like always it's graphical inferior to other games on the market. But it's still Pokémon.

It's been years since I last played a pokemon game, and was very glad this was the first such game I immersed myself in after so many years. It's a very fun version that is free world so you can do quests in whatever order you like or just wander around collecting pokemon (there are over 400 types I believe). The graphics are great, you can take classes at the academy in game, and there are many character customization options. My only issue is that there are very limited hairstyles (there are no long hair styles at all) and you can only choose from four uniform outfits (all academy uniforms). Other than that, great game!

This game really brings out the joy of having an adventure in a true open world experience with amazing music and characters. Not to mention new game mechanics that spices up the play style compared to previous games.

Its a new pokemon game. But with sone interestings twists. The open world is nice, and the team star / path of ancients story lines are surprisingly moving. However technical bugs really prevent this gen from shining

Despite the performance issues this game is plagued with, this is an excellent entry into the Pokémon franchise. It is up there among my favorites. The revolution in gameplay and flow makes the game feel refreshing and fun. That along with being able to go where you want, when you want, gives much more freedom to the players. Not a perfect game due to performance and bugs, but a great step in the Pokémon franchise and what I would like to see going forward from future games.

The best Pokémon game I’ve ever played. The story is great and intriguing, the combat is action packed and visually pleasing, and the world is so fun to explore every nook and cranny. I only wish GF had gone with the zones like they did with Arceus. Yes, it’s “cool” to have the entire game loaded up at once for you to run around in but it drastically takes away from the graphics and leaves the world looking blurry at range. Once I unlocked all of the fast travel points I mostly used them, which is a load screen anyways so having to load up difference zones in exchange for better visuals and performance would have been a welcome trade off. Still a must have for Pokémon lovers and a great jumping on point for newcomers.
