I have been using the watch for over a month now, here are my views.
Best:
looks good as a watch
Battery last almost a week with daily work out and gps for an hour.
comfortable and appropriate weight.
Decent:
Polar flow app and web services
Connectivity to Myfitnesspal app
GPS accuracy
Activity tracking.
Size( i like big dials but for those who like small ones it may not suit)
Syncing to heart rate sensor ( by polar)
Display.
Cons:
Some software bugs in app
Syncing issues with mobile app
Backlight has to activated by a specific button press, otherwise cant see the screen in the night( would love if it is automatically activated when you press any button, as it helps to see during training or running)

Great upgrade from my last polar. I love the activity tracking which includes sleep. The M400 heart rate monitor (hrm) is full of features and comprehensive data is available about your workouts on your computer and/or app once you've synced.
I'm a big Polar fan vs all the newcomer hrm and tried to hold out for the upcoming V800 replacement. My screen was unusable on my last Polar and I was finally forced to replace it, so instead of buying the V800 (it's going to soon be a "previous" model), I went for the M400, a less expensive watch. My wife owns the V800 and she loves it, but the M400 has nearly all the features she has. I'm very pleased with this watch and don't feel outdone by my wife's hrm.
I probably will kee this hrm long after the v800 is replaced. I run marathons, I lift weights and do regular gym exercises, and this hrm hasn't let me down or left me wishing it has more. Great buy!

Easy to use. Size ok, still a little bulky compared to competitors. Price came down since launch. Battery charge excellent. Falls short still needing the trusty chest strap for hear rate monitor. Continuous would be nice. Chest strap remains more accurate for the long hall events.

I've using the watch for almost a month but mostly just to track steps, sleep and bit of a c25k running program.
What I like:
- It's comfortable. I haven't used a watch for 10 years and most of the times I forget I'm wearing one.
- You can create customized workouts like I do for c25k in the website and sync them with the watch.
- Battery life. I haven't charged it yet but I have used the gps less than 3 hours but you can see that with only step counter it lasts forever.
- Truly water Resistant.
- Price. It does a lot more than a watch in the same price range.
Meh
- GPS takes some time to find the satellites if you are in a new place but if you always are in same area is very quick
Not good
- Android app works only one way. You can upload info from watch to app/website but not the other way, something that you can do with other devices like garmin (more expensive though)
- It doesn't vibrate. Only a beep that is hard to hear if you are wearing headphones. Again this is something that more expensive devices do so it's not so bad

Great watch! I did about a weeks worth of research looking into several different watches and finally decided on the m400, which I am glad I did! I have done multiple runs/workouts with it and love the watch. You can set it up to do all sorts of stuff, and I love being able to sync it via Bluetooth at the end of a run to get a detailed review.
I am giving it 4 out of 5 for two reasons though.
First, the sound from the watch is very low... Even when set to its highest setting, I can still barely hear it (definitely cant when I have my earphones in.) And there is no vibrating function.
Second, polars website will not give you any workouts as others mislead you into believing (which is another reason why I chose this.) All you are able to do is setup a profile, which basically just allows you to setup different views which you would like to see during a particular workout. Example during running: you see speed, gps data, distance, etc. Or during a treadmill run, all you want to see is calories burned. You don't have access to the old polar personal traine rwebsite, which gives you coaching/workouts to follow. There are plans in the future to add this though (no idea when its coming.)
Overall, great watch! Definitely will love it!

I love this watch. The battery life is great, it will last over 2 weeks with daily use. I love the style, weight and screen. It is very easy to use and understand. Counts my daily steps, calories burned (day and each exercise) tracks my workout progress. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fitness watch. I like that it has Bluetooth to sync with my phone. Only s few in this price range.

I used to have a jawbone up24 but decided to find a new tracking device after my tracker became defective. After some thought, I decided that I still wanted the ability to track my daily steps but wanted something that could track what I did more accurately. I was primarily looking at Garmin, TomTom, and Polar devices because these products gave me more feedback about my activity. In the end, I chose this device because of the reasonable price, skepticism about HR monitor (accuracy issues with monitoring your HR on your wrist), and ability to use GPS tracking. I have been using this device for approximately 2 months now and I have no complaints. I have gone on several runs; the GPS syncs up by the time I get done tying my shoes, the interface is customizable and easy to read when I am running/working out, and its computer/phone app are great to review my progress. Now only does this watch work great, I believe it looks good and is better-looking compared to the other options on the market. It is durable as well. Some negatives are that it does not do as well as my Jawbone did at activity tracking (daily steps and sleep). I loved how my Jawbone tracked my sleep and the reports were in-depth and easy to read. This watch still tracks my sleep and activity, but is lacking detail, especially about sleep patterns. I would recommend this watch to the casual runner/athlete who runs/works out around 3-4 times per week. If you are active less than that, I would recommend a more basic activity tracker that will not only be cheaper but also have better reports on your steps/sleep. If you are running daily or training competitively for marathon/triathlon/etc, I would suggest looking at the more high-end devices that can help you keep track of your cadence/ground contact time/swim stroke/barometric altitude/etc. Some suggestions are Garmin 920XT, Garmin Fenix, Polar V800, and Suunto Ambit2.

I started out using a phone app to track my runs, but I was disappointed in the quality of the GPS tracking. Also, I had no way to take laps for tracking heart rate. This watch has fit all of my needs exactly. The GPS is awesome, the heart rate has never failed (like it did on the phone), and the ability to take laps and do more analysis is very welcome. I'm also very happy with the Polar Flow web site. It has amazing features - far better than the other sites that I was using along with my phone. The only problem I see is that Polar doesn't have a Windows 10 Mobile app at the moment, so I always have to connect my watch to my computer to upload data. That's not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind. Overall, I really love this watch. It's been a great help this past 6 weeks that I've used it.

This is my second GPS watch. I use the watch primarily to track my runs. The GPS typically picks up in under a minute and the signal reliably holds during my runs. The watch is extremely comfortable and easy to use. The display is easy to read and the stats provided are very useful. I particularly like the web interface used when uploading your workout. I've used the activity tracker several times and it seems to work well also. This watch was less expensive than my first and superior in every way.

A long-time Polar user, I was surprised when the M400 released--so many features for a great price. Paired with the H7 HR strap, this watch tracks every possible activity. The GPS is ready to go when activated and very accurate. The watch synchs with your Smartphone (I use an iPhone) and also receives all updates. Use the web-based Polar Flow to analyze your workouts with an array of data-points.

Gps watch-good, accurate gps. Also has other sports settings which you can choose when setting up your profile. Wish it had a vibration along with the quiet beep. Can set custom timers or have it predict your finish time for the mileage you set. Have not had good luck with the smart watch features, such as seeing incoming texts and emails. Gives you tons of data when you sync it with your Polar web profile. Also syncs with the phone app and with My Fitness Pal. The best feature and deciding factor for me is how comfortable it is! The material is soft. I have white, and dirt rubs right off.

I like this watch and it does a lot but its only water resistant and the A300 does the same thing as this watch except GPS and its waterproof. I am in the pool a lot with my kids and need something I know will work not just resistant.

Not only does this HRM do everything it's advertised to do - it makes me want to improve and helps me keep on target with my fitness efforts. I have used Polar products for almost thirty years and they keep getting better. This devise is large for a woman's arm, but I got used to it quickly.

i bought this product to start working out and to try running. I love the GPS, activity level and the partnership with my heart rate monitor. I workout 5 days a week now, mainly indoors so the heart rate piece is beneficial. Once the weather is nicer it will be enjoyable to map my runs and progress.

I love this watch. I not only trust the brand to be accurate but feel the tried and true band strap style heart rate monitor is more accurate than the new infrared method of determining heart rate. Will consider polar again in the future

I bought this watch so I could track my outdoor running. The GPS functionality works very well. It picks up the signal fairly quickly and seems to be very accurate. Works well as a pedometer, though I would suggest adding the heart rate monitor to get the full experience. Battery life is pretty good as well, I use the thing every day and I charge it about once a week or slightly more. Overall, good value for your money as a GPS watch and an activity tracker

Bought the M400 specifically for its GPS abilities but have found it is loaded with so much more! I am able to keep up with my daily activities in addition to keeping up with my running. Can't wait until the Polar App is a little more functional with Android devices, that would give it a 5/5.

Excellent GPS Watch for Running / Cycling

I compared the GPS watches available online, and in this price range (~$160) I decided to go with the Polar M400. This is one excellent GPS watch for my running and cycling. It has an easy-to-use interface, great online support programs through the Polar website, and a reasonably waterproof USB port for data and charging. I am totally happy with all that it can do. FYI if you use a cell phone GPS app: In the past I was using a cell phone GPS app for running. When I compared my cell phone with the Polar M400, I was noticing around a 10% to 18% error. So I verified the Polar M400 with my car's odometer and the two matched exactly 100%. My phone app was in error by telling me I was running around 10% to 18% farther than I actually was.

Bought for obstacle course racing (Spartan Race)

I bought this to wear in training and competing in obstacle course races. I did my homework before purchasing any of the watches on the market.
What I was looking for:
-GPS
-Accurate Heart Rate monitor
-Multiple settings for multiple exercise sessions
Why I bought Polar M400:
-GPS was rated as accurate - seems to be compared to GPS apps on my phone
-This unit uses a heart rate monitor on a chest strap. The strap is adjustable, and after some getting used to, is reasonably comfortable. My research indicated that monitors on the wrist use the same technology used in hospitals and doctor's offices when they put that thingy on your finger to take your pulse. Think about it, it's accurate ... as long as you're being still. I'm not being still during exercise, so I didn't trust the info provided. The chest strap monitor is supposed to be the most accurate without being strapped to hospital or dr equipment (like an EKG). Whether any of this is true or not, I cannot say, but the Polar M400 seems to be accurate.
-This watch plugs into your laptop via usb, and when it syncs, pulls up the Polar "dashboard." Here, you can customize the settings for about any type of exercise you want to do. Also, there's more information on the dashboard than I can cypher. Pretty cool stuff in my estimation.
Well, all in all I really like it ... had it for almost a year now. I've ran 7 races in it now, had it so muddy you couldn't see it on my arm, been in muddy creek water with the watch and heart rate monitor ... I just clean it up and keep on wearing it.
Not a cheap item, but it's a good piece of equipment that I'd consider an investment in my health and well-being.
Just my two cents.
