Purchased this watch for mainly tracking activity during the day and also treadmill and exercise bike workouts. First off the activity tracker works very well and motivates me to keep active. The alert for inactivity is helpful but wish it had a vibrate in addition to a tone for this. In terms of tracking workouts that don't involve the GPS a heart rate monitor is mandatory to log these properly and the M400 with heart rate strap fits the bill for this. For this the watch works very well, it logs my exercise bike workouts very well in terms of heart rate, time on the bike and calories burned. However to put the distance in you need to this from the website, there is no ability to do this from the watch or from the Android app. In terms of treadmill work it is the same as the exercise bike in terms of what it tracks, when you enter workout mode it does not track steps with the built in pedometer and tie those to the workout. Overall I am very happy with this watch but look forward to some firmware updates soon. Pros: Heart rate monitor is top notch. The ability to track workouts with the heart rate monitor and see those on the website and mobile app. Combines a lot of functionality into one device, it allow me to use one device to track everything. Before I was using my phone to track my workout and then sharing that data with mulitple apps to get the info I needed for me. Progess tracking is very nice on the mobile app and website. Cons: Website and mobile app need some work in terms of more user friendliness. Please add the ability to manually import workouts, edit the workout from the mobile app in terms of editing the distance of the exercise bike ride and somehow track steps on a treadmill and tie that distance to the workout instead of having to purchase a foot pod. Wish it had a vibration alert for inactivity, I have a hard time hearing the beep in a noisy environment. Despite the cons I feel this is one of the best fitness trackers on the market right now and would recommend it. I haven't even had a chance to try the GPS because of the weather but look forward to it.

Tracks daily movement with extra advantage of capturing GPS/HR fitness workouts beyond cardio including strength training and yoga. Connects to Polar Flow website and mobile app which are very nice graphical summaries of your daily goals and progress. I bought it as a weight loss companion and have been pleasantly surprised how easy to use, and customizable the workout displays are. You can create a dashboard of conceivably any data you want to look at while working out. So far I have found it very easy to connect to some of my preferred 3rd party apps like myfitnesspal and training peaks. Finally a device that uses a common usb cord (Kindle/Galaxy micro usb) for syncing and charging (does sync to mobile via bluetooth as well). My only complaint is that it does not yet have tools to track treadmill distance - accelerometer doesn't track distance and currently it doesn't seem to support a footpod. I love Garmin products as well, but the Bluetooth connectivity of the Heart Rate monitor by Polar seems to be more universally compatible with the fitness machines I encounter traveling at hotels around the US which is nice. I did have an initial support issue with the HR strap and will say Polar rectified it immediately which was nice. Some final comments on the GPS, GPS accuracy seems to mirror my Garmin Forerunner. Though my workouts tend to be in open sky areas, of the few times I have tried it in a downtown big building environment or dense forest canopy I did have one workout that reported some erroneous distance and mapping, most are fine though.

Great as long as you understand the limitations

Overall I think this is an awesome watch to track running/workouts with lots of features and customization options as long as you can look at bluetooth/smartphone notifications as more of a bonus that doesn't always work. What I love: - Accurately tracks GPS, distance/elevation, pace and time while running. It's so much easier than relying on the phone for this. - What you see during your workout is highly customizable via the desktop/web interface as you can set up different types of workout profiles and pick what stats are displayed for each type of workout. - You can also use this interface to set up automatic upload to other services like Strava - that way you just need to sync the watch to your phone via bluetooth after your workout, which updates the Polar account, which then updates these services and it is all pretty instant. Limitations: - No vibration. The beeping is loud enough while running but I often miss smartphone notifications during the day that pop up on the watch. - Bluetooth connection can be spotty. May just be my phone (Moto X) but often the phone/watch connection is lost and I need to open my phone's BT settings screen at which point connection is restored. No problem with syncing once reconnected though. - Auto pause stops everything. If you use the auto pause setting to stop the timer when you stop, it pauses everything and you can't do much. That means you can't time your breaks at the track for example. Other observations: - On a full charge there is more than enough battery to last a full marathon with GPS tracking. - HR monitor works well with included chest strap. Some people prefer the ease of a wrist monitor but I have always used chest strap and you get used to it. I think this is a more reliable way of measuring than the wrist monitor as well.

Good mix between an activity tracker and GPS watch

I was first interested in this watch because I wanted an activity tracker, but I wanted the look an feel of an actual watch without wearing multiple devices. The many different sport profiles and GPS features are an added bonus for me. I do a wide variety of activities from running, cycling, weight lifting, and different sports, and this watch can track them all and I can track my heart rate. Negatives: -The sleep tracking data is pretty much useless. -Like many others have said syncing data over Bluetooth never works. And Bluetooth smart notifications are spotty at best. TL;DR This watch may not be the best at any single thing it does, but it does offer a wide variety of good features at a reasonable price.

I love that it doesn't use a watch battery, but instead charges with a USB cable. It tracks the route that I walk very precisely on the map. Shows not only how many calories I've burned, but what percentage of those calories were body fat. Seems to track my steps and my sleep pretty accurately as well. Its numerous features are very customizeable. It is rather bulky for a woman to wear. Sometimes has trouble uploading my workouts to the web and requires multiple attempts. I wish that it had the option of vibration for alerts because I sometimes don't hear them. Overall, I like it very much, wear it constantly, and find the information it tracks very accurate and useful.

The watch works well but keeping up with the software and firmware upgrades can be a bit daunting. I had the watch working well with the app on my I-pad and (after a firmware update) it stopped syncing. I finally discovered (after doing some searching) that Polar had updated the app also and the watch would no longer work with the previous version of the app. All is working well again. One minor gripe is that the rubber watch band can be a bit difficult to undo since it gets 'stuck' under the surplus band holder.

Looked at the Garmin Fenix 2 and Polar M400 and very glad that I went with the simpler, easier to use Polar. It does everything I need it to do and doesn't take weeks to figure out all of the bells and whistles. Love the watch and the 'Relive' feature on the Polar Flow website is really neat. On a side note though, I had to take the first one back as the charge plug on the back wouldn't charge the watch after 2 weeks of use. BB exchanged it for me and I'm on the 3rd week with the 2nd one and no issues to date.

Invaluable! I try to ignore getting 100% activity everyday and I can't!! There is an app that goes with it that is big time in-depth like a personal trainer. GET THE WARRANY that Best Buy sells w it. It is somethines glitchy & if u scratch the screen (annoying) u can replace it. Heart rate monitor stops working sometimes. Read reviews on Amazon too & buy from Best Buy…GET THE EXTRA WARRANTY!!!

Overall, this is a great watch. Has all the features I wanted, however, I noticed that the step counter feature only works if the hand it's on is in motion. If your hand is resting on a handle while moving (ala: cart or stroller), the steps taken are not accurately recorded. In order to record such steps, you have to activate the gps feature - which will drain power. Other than that, it's a great watch.

I love this polar product. I've owned several watches FT80, FT60 and now M400. This watch is an improvement over the previous watches i have used. Easy to use, accurate and even had a built in gps. This product can sync Wireless and monitors everything from steps, to sleep to work out calories burned. The only complaint is that the screen should be a sapphire crystal to prevent scratches if it's going to be a workout watch and an everyday wear watch.

The Polar M400 with heart rate monitor is just about everything you'd want in a fitness tracker. There are several types of exercise pre-programmed and the app is easy to use. I would have given this fitness tracker five stars if it wasn't so difficult to sync with my pc. I have read several other reviews where this is an issue as well. If you don't mind occasional syncing problems, then this is an amazing tracker for you.

I like the watch and it's quite stylish. There are both pros and cons. I find it easy to use but not so easy to sync. The sync take a very long time and in the end I usually get a failed message. When I plug into my computer that sync isn't always flawless either. For the most part I really like the watch and it works well but they still have improvements to make for a flawless sync.

I love this with the heart rate monitor! The activity level is great because it makes me want to make sure I get 100% everyday. I would recommend this too a friend but only with the heart rate monitor! Only 4 stars because it doesn't have some of the nice features like Fitbit with the vibrating alarm or text alerts. Not needed but a nice bonus!

Bought this after reading online reviews that the product was great for the $. Does its job and connects seamlessly to the app as well as the blootooth on my phone which allows me to get alerts/updates on the watch. Overall good quality. Would have loved an actual HR monitor on the watch instead of having to wear one.

watch does what I want it to do, but having an external heart rate monitor is a pain. If you are using this specifically for training then you'll probably love it. if you want to be able to monitor heart rate and record activity as part of your every day then you'll probably want a monitor built in to the watch
