I’ve always enjoyed taking Polaroid photos and was interested in this new camera because of all its Bluetooth features and tripod capability but this camera unfortunately overexposes and does not focus on the subject very well and I’m left with poor quality pictures (Even though I would not let the film be exposed to any light after taking the photo and using fresh properly stored film). I previously used the one Polaroid 600 square instant camera which never had those issues.

Polaroid cameras have been around for a very long time. The first Polaroid, the Model 95, was introduced in Boston in 1948. In the 1970s, Polaroids were very popular with their ability to produce instant color pictures. Forget about everything you thought you knew about all these old Polaroids. The Polaroid Now+ is not one of those old models. While the name still says Polaroid, what it can do is completely different. Of course, the idea of a Polaroid is you take a picture, it instantly spits out the paper, and in a few minutes, you have a photograph. You don’t have to go somewhere to have the film developed. That is still more or less the same. However, just pointing and clicking is not what you do anymore. You have much more control over your images. For starters, the Polaroid Now+ can connect to your smartphone. Just download the Polaroid app and turn on the camera. The camera should easily connect. From there, you can control many aspects of your camera. There is an ability to set timers so you can take a picture of yourself, you can do double exposure images, you can change the f-stop on the camera to change exposure times, change lighting effects, or even do portraits. The camera even has a place on the bottom to allow you to mount it on a tripod for steady pictures. It has become a more complete camera. Now I am not going to try and compare it to a multimillion-megapixel camera on a smartphone. That is not a Polaroid. Those don’t give you instant photos to stick in an album and hold. This camera allows you to have a picture right now. That is special. Images may not be as crisp as the smartphones. For most the images may be a little hazy. But Polaroids themselves have a special look and this camera does that very well. I will say the film is a little different. It used to be that you take the picture, the photo comes out of the camera, and then you shake is for a minute or so and the image appears. The process is a little longer now. You take the picture the same and the photo comes out the same. However, you need to place the photo in a dark area or face down on a surface for about 15 minutes while the image develops. So, it takes a little longer, but the result is the same. This camera is also special in that it allows for different effects. The camera has filters such as red, yellow, blue, and orange which you can place over the lens to give you more creativity in the process. It is just another step to give you more control. In the end, I am glad to see Polaroids coming back. They images are unique. Plus, you get to have the images instantly. If you like the old Polaroids, you will love the Polaroid Now+. It is everything the old cameras were and so much more. I recommend these to my friends.

This is cute, I like it. It’s for date nights but I’m beginning to think I’m Hulu cause my bf don’t take pictures of me anyway. My kids, kids, kids will never know what I looked like they’ll never know how how I was.

The Polaroid Now+ brings back memories of the Polaroid 600 Land camera my parents had when I was young. But the Polaroid Now+ has a smartphone app for creative modes. Aesthetically, the camera looks great, with a simple look and a retro feel. The Polaroid app is well designed, I liked how easy it was to connect the camera to the app. Just turn on the camera, open the app and it connects, no additional steps. The smartphone app features include: a self-timer, double exposure, aperture, tripod, portrait, light painting and manual mode. The features Light Painting and Double Exposure are fun features to use, however they definitely require experimentation, which can be expensive due to the film’s cost. Initially, I found the camera+app a bit confusing. I thought I had to use the app to take any photo, but I wasn’t able to find “auto” mode in the app. My son and I had 6 photos come out real dark. But you actually don’t have to use the app unless you want to get creative. If you want to take a photo, just turn on camera, point and shoot. This is where a more comprehensive manual available on the Polaroid website. Point, shoot and in 15 (long) minutes, we had a picture that well, looked like a Polaroid, vintage looking, not very sharp and colors a bit faded. If you want to get creative, that’s when you use the app. For that, I find it a bit cumbersome. You have to take out your smartphone, turn on camera, change the settings on the app, then take your photo. This camera can be a lot of fun, my son borrowed it a few times already when hanging out with his friends. He brought back a few (underexposed) group shots. But he really likes it, it’s different. Having a picture pop out instantly is pretty cool, just like it was when I was a kid. Except back then, you shook the picture back and forth to have it develop faster. With the Polaroid Now, once you take the photo, you leave it in the camera for 5 seconds, then you take it out and put it face down and wait 15 minutes – don’t shake the photo. This camera can be lots of fun; the biggest drawback is the price of the film and the develop time. A pack of i-type film with 16 photos will cost you $30, about $2 a photo! Continue to use your smartphone for 95% of your pictures, and when you want some cool vintage photos, break out the Polaroid!

I had one of these cameras in the mid 1970's and loved it. When it came back I had to get one. Sorry to say that I was incredibly disappointed and actually took it back for a refund because the pictures are so bad. If the come out with a new version I will still buy one and give it a try. I so much like the instant picture concept.

I bought this hoping to take pictures. But it’s missing film inside of the kit. It doesn’t make sense to sell a camera without film inside and I was told that there would be camera film inside of the Polaroid plus kit and there wasn’t.

Hi JamariN, Film is not included with the purchase of a camera unless specifically stated in the product description. This listing is for the camera only, so film was not included. There is nothing missing from the camera box you purchased. Any Polaroid i-Type or Polaroid 600 film will work in the Now+ camera, and this film can be purchased separately.
