I bought these speakers on black Friday when they were 50% off. one of them came in the next day and the other one will be here the next week. My old Polk towers were from 1992 and i was much needed for an upgrade. These speakers don't fall anything short of outstanding. great mids, crystal clear audio at its finest, and a huge amount of bass just from one tower alone. After owning 5 of their products 2 of them being signature series, i am very impressed with audio and price range. For anyone new into the home theater audio and looking for a budget friendly system I can highly recommend the signature series collection made by Polk.

These are my first entry level HiFi speakers. Much better than budget Sony speakers I had before. I am very happy with them. I would highly recommend for movies. I have not tested for music yet since I do not have HiFi music tracks to play. Go to a Bestbuy store and listen to them before buying. I compared 5-6 different speaker brands. If you are mixing them with other speakers in your HT system, make sure that you set your receiver settings correctly. I had to set them as large speakers so that they can do most of the job themselves instead of my cheap subwoofer and central channel speaker. Correct settings made huge difference. If they do not sound good to you, it means that you set them wrong. I am not sure if these things break-in or my ears are getting used to them, but after I month of listening they sound fantastic. Either way, I am pleased. Do yourself a favor, get them, enjoy yourself.

I use these Polk S55 speakers as front speakers in a 3.1 and in a 5.1 system using a Sony STR DN1080 AVR and ELAC Debut 2 C6.2 center speaker and ELAC Debut 2 B6.2 bookshelf rears. I also tried the Polk T50 as fronts, and found them to be very good, but the S55 have better highs and lows. Cymbals and breaking glass are superior in the S55. I also tried the ELAC Debut 2 B6.2 as fronts and found they could not produce the stereo effects nor the clarity of speech of the S55’s. Pretty expensive system (in my view) but very good results. I got the S55 at Best Buy for $269 each. The price swings up and down erratically.

Great sounding! Clean and balanced. Use for music & movies. I replaced 20 year old Cambridge Sound work Tower II speakers. Even better since I lucked out and hit sale price $299 each. WOW! Matches well with my Polk Reserve 300 center channel and Polk S10 bookshelf speakers for surround mounted on stands behind and slightly above ear height.

These speakers sound beautiful for the price! I have them paired with the s35 and the matching center channel and it doesn’t matter what you are using them for, they do the job very well! Love them!!
