Q: How do these compare to the s60? Are they better in midrange?
A: Compared to the Polk S55 speaker, the Polk S60 speaker has three Mid-Bass Transducers (vs two), supports 300 watts per channel (vs 200), and has a frequency response of 26 Hz - 40 kHz (vs 32 Hz - 40 kHz). The S55 is already substantial, but the S60 is 3 inches taller, 3 inches deeper, and 8 pounds heavier. I haven't tested them side-by-side. The S55 has been more than adequate for my needs.
Q: What are the speaker dimensions?
A: The Polk S55 is a fairly large floor-standing speaker. It would dominate a small room. The Polk S55 is 41.5" tall, 8.5" wide (11.7" wide including feet), and 12.5" deep. It weighs a hefty 44 pounds.
Q: How do I hook up my Polk s55 towers to my pioneer 7.1 receiver
A: That would depend if you intend to bi-amp them or not. Bi-amping will take away 2 channels however. If you don’t want to bi-amp, leave the clips on the speaker posts and plug them into your left and right surround channels. If you want to bi-amp, you will need to remove the clips from your speaker posts and change the speaker setting/setup on your receiver to bi-amp. This will make your setup a 5.1 instead of 7.1 though because 2 channels get repurposed. Don’t quote me on this as I cant remember it’s been so long, but I believe the left and right surround go to the bottom posts, and front high surround goes to the top posts. Your amplifier’s owner manual should tell you how to wire for bi-amp.
A: My receiver puts out 100 watts per channel which isn't a lot more than yours and they seem to work just fine
Q: the price. is this for set or single?
A: They are priced individually, as are almost all tower speakers.
Q: Have an old carver 75 watts ...will these speakers work with the receiver
A: These speakers will work with any stereo receiver, but you're going to want more power to push through them. At least if you want them to really thump.
Q: What is the wattage rating of these speaker? I have a amp that produces 200W a channel
A: The Polk S55 is an 8-ohm speaker with a recommended amplification of 20-200 watts per channel.
Q: Is this speaker video sheelded
A: Unless you're still using CRT technology, there is no need for them to be shielded. As far as being shielded, I do not see any info that states they are.
