Got these for an upgrade from the 12 year old RM series surround sound speakers I had. Sound so good and very crisp sound. Highs are not muffled and bass is booming coming out of the ports. Would recommend to anyone that watches movies or likes to immerse into listening the music.

I purchased these to upgrade my entertainment system. I’ve had my last Polk speakers for over twenty years and was due for an upgrade, the other ones still work fine. I am still using my Polk subwoofer PSW400 which still cranks and sounds good. I went with Polk because of their quality and sound. Great sound and aesthetic.

Only had 'em for a day, but it is obvious that they are keepers....unless something goes wrong.
Using in living room for listening to music only via CD or Streaming Device. Nice full sound and adequate bass for music only.
Usually I let a speaker loosen up awhile before commenting, but these are just fine out of the box.
My listening preferences range from Classical to Pop Vocal and even some Bluegrass or Jazz. The Polk's have done just fine so far.
They replace KEF bookshelf (early Q series) and a powered sub. Tower speakers just sound fuller and I don't have to mess with the sub-woofer settings. Not as many cables either.
As a con, they are Big so be ready for that. Also, the feet while feeling quite stable are "plastic" Metal would be nicer, but these are not expensive speakers....soooo!
Enjoy them yourself and see.

Great sound for the money! Bought these even though the store display didn't blow me away. Got them home, tweaked the amp, couldn't be happier!

Impressive sound from the floor speakers. Plus the solid construction giving this speaker some weight. I like the removable speaker screen which is held on with strong little magnets.

Polk Signature series don’t disappoint. This does have the bidirectional wiring if your receiver has the ability. Full rich sound with comparable to Bose on a budget.

I was not able to demo these before purchasing. I had it narrowed down to these and Klipsch. I read until my eyes crossed and the one thing that came up over and over was the Klipsch are bright and harsh on the ears. I cannot verify this first hand but I will say I am more than thrilled with the Polk towers!!
First impressions upon unpacking is that they are gorgeous. They look great with or without the grills. They have nice weight to them. I have 3 toddlers and I was afraid they would knock them over but they seem pretty stable. The magnetic grill lines itself up and just clicks into place with zero effort.
I kept the jumpers in place and just had the 2 towers and my sub hooked up. I started playing around at lower to mid levels and said I want to hear what these sound like without the sub and went to turn the sub off......but it already was off!! I couldn’t believe the sound that these produce!! Don’t get me wrong, they weren’t shaking the walls but they have such a smooth deep sound and I still cannot believe that these are not in a much higher price range. The highs are so mello and not harsh for a second. When I get my new receiver I will have the option for bi wiring and will update then.
If you are in question of should you purchase these, you don’t have to hesitate. Just. Do. It.

Granted, I have never owned floor-standing speakers before. Even so, some of my previous bookshelf speakers have been quite up to more demanding standards. With that said: These Polk speakers represent the biggest leap I have ever made in upgrading my living-room audio system.
The most striking difference I noticed right away was when playing movies and TV. These speakers seem to be particularly well-suited to capture and reproduce that particular, complex sonic mix of voice, scene and set, special effects, and soundtrack audio. It is all delivered with a rare degree of clarity and transparence.
Trebles are crisp and clean. In fact, sound comes through with such an immediate acoustic presence that I have sometimes had to press the mute button to verify whether a sound such as a ringtone or even a police-car siren was part of the soundscape or part of the "real world."
As for lower frequencies, there is no phony "bass boosting" to give you an illusion of full-bodied sound when the frequencies in question are really in the lower mid-range. Instead, prepare for a "rumble" to go through the room when the audio frequency really calls for it, but without causing the speaker chassis to vibrate.
Now Polk says these speakers work best when bi-connected to the audio system (two sets of speaker cable each). So I did bi-connect the speakers to the two pairs of speaker outlets that come with my receiver, an old-school, 2.0-channel Sony STR-DH130. This receiver has controls for volume, treble, and bass to adjust sound; that's it. And with these Polk speakers bi-connected, the resulting experience leaves nothing to be desired for high-end audio enjoyment.
My CD player is an Onkyo C-7030, which is by all means capable of picking up the most varied and subtle nuances of what it plays. When I paired it with these Polk speakers, it, too, set the bar for my idea of "audiophile" quite a bit higher!
Unfortunately, with these speakers, limitations of the playback source are also more clearly revealed now. Then again, maybe that's just me already being spoiled by the otherwise great, sometimes outright stunning results!

I just bought these speakers along with the center speaker S35 and Of course I went with the upgraded and got the PSW 125. I have a little older Sony receiver that says it puts out 100 watts. It was a big box store all in one box set-up that I've been wanting to upgrade for some time. I don't know a lot about electronics, but I do love listening to my music loud and clear along with watching movies where you can hear the bullets slicing through the air or the rustle of leaves from a tree very far in the background, and this folks provides that and much more. I have heard all my hair bands in a new light. I hear musical instruments in the classics that I have never known were being used in that song. I am beyond ecstatic about this purchase and what it sounds like in my house.

I upgraded my nice sounding Polk Monitor 60s for the S55s. What a difference this makes, especially since I had recently upgraded my Polk Center Channel to the S35. I'm hearing sounds, clear voices, music that I hadn't noticed before. I caught the S55s on sale for just over $200 each. I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. I'm having to rewatch some of my favorite movies to see the difference these speakers make. Also, they look very nice and are well constructed.

Use as main speakers in my 5.1 setup. These Polk speakers are built with excellent quality and sound great. The bass response is tight and not overwhelming. The highs are crisp and pleasant to listen to. I so have these paired with a pair of Polk Signature Series HTS 10 subs, but there is plenty of bass without them. Mainly use for music listening, but movies sound great as well. I could not be happier with my purchase.

I've been wanting to add some Polk speakers to my home theatre collection for a while, I am happy I made this choice. Polk's manual explains how to set up your receiver for the best performance.
There is no distortion between the highs and lows, while watching 'Dredd' I was amazed at the clarity when the bass was rocking and the highs were coming through magically.
I debated endlessly between the S60's/S55's/S50's. For the price, I am extremely happy with my choice. The 5-way dual posts are excellent and you can remove the covers for banana plugs.
I've never installed the grills as the speakers are work of art that shouldn't be covered up.

I love movies, and I love good sound. Now I'm not going to sit here and say I am some professional reviewer of sound quality or someone that has spent thousands of dollars on audio equipment but what I will say is that these speakers for what I have for my personal setup is beyond perfect.
