I'm a huge fan of this genre, so I generally enjoy these type of movies. They tried to make a love story though... and I felt like they didn't develop the characters that well for the audience to believe they could be in love. Aside from that, the action was great! They stuck to the story of Pompeii. It looks great on blu ray of course.

I'm not that familiar with the historical facts of Pompeii, but as a backdrop for the film, I thought it served its purpose. Like several films that are inspired by tragic historical events, the volcano destruction is mainly secondary and doesn't occur until the latter part of the film. It has a bit of Gladiator meets Romeo & Juliet with a bit of Titanic scenarios mixed in with a disastrous volcano eruption. The film does have some well known actors, but the script doesn't allow them to explore their potential. However, it's obvious that the filmmakers made the volcano's eruption as accurate and authentic as possible, hinting at the tragedies that people suffered through. As for the DVD version, it has a few bonus features, but not as much as the Blu Ray version, which gives you more footage and a lot of deleted scenes that reveals a bit more characterization and the story.

This is my second movie about the Pompeii disaster. This one is a pretty good representation of the destruction of the doomed city. Overall it's quite different from the 80's version accept for the final eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. The Blu-ray and 3D features of this film make it unique to watch.

I bought this movie because several friends and family members said the 3d was amazing. They were right the 3d effects are worth the purchase. The plot and story could have used some development. I felt that I never fully cared about any of the characters like I did with gladiator or braveheart.

You need to get this movie. Set in the days leading up to the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, a slave on a ship heading for Naples works to get home to save the woman he loves and his best friend, a gladiator trapped inside the city's coliseum. Great effects with a good story line.

Pompeii is a well made story with very good acting and chacrter's. The action and special effects were done excellent. The lacking was in the fact that there was less realistic gore that is present in most movie's of this type. Given that, it is still a great story for all to see.

I was hoping that "Pompeii" would be based on a novel of the same title that appeared a few years ago. Instead they used a basic Hollywood boy-meets-girl/boy-loses girl/boy-gets-girl-and-dies tragedy plot. So what you're there for are the special effects, and these are excellent.

The price I paid ($4.99) for this 3D Blu-Ray was a pleasant find. You very rarely find an up to date 3D Blu-Ray movie for a price this low. The movie has excellent actors and is definitely worth the purchase for my home theater and movie collection.

POMPEII IN 3-D really puts you right in the middle of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius that fateful day . I have seen all previous versions of this story , including the made for TV mini-series of the '80's and , of course , this version is the BEST ! The actors are pretty much believable , except Keifer Sutherland sure is miss cast in his role ! I just couldn't believe him to be ROMAN ! His acting brought it down a notch . Quality of the disc picture and 3-D is remarkable and the 5.1 or 7.1 sound is super ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL ACTION / ADVENTURE FANS !!

Movies like this usually aren't to my liking & hard to follow, however this movie had a great storyline, and a whole lot easier to follow as opposed to other movies in the same "category" as this particular movie itself. Although seeing this movie in theaters, it seemed as though the movie in theaters was shorter than the bluray/dvd version of it, i was still able to keep interest and follow the storyline. Would definatley recommend others to see and purchase this movie for themselves, especially if action movies are something you'd enjoy watching for yourself.

Me and my wife bought this movie and was excited to see it. We enjoyed the movie all the way till the end. I suppose some people probably thought it was a sentimental ending but all it did was upset us. Not in a bad way but we expected something completely different.

Pompeii is the new disaster film from Paul W.S Anderson about, you guessed it, Pompeii! Following the story of Milo (Kit Harrington), a Celt who was put into slavery after his village was attacked and his parents killed, Milo becomes a gladiator, fighting numerous foes within area walls. But it's in Pompeii where Milo's destiny will come to light, falling in love with Cassia (Emily Browning), the daughter of Pompeii's ruler Severus (Jared Harris), and befriending a rival gladiator, Atticus (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). But when Mount Vesuvius begins to tremble and plumes of smoke and ash fall upon the great city, Milo, Atticus and Cassia must escape the city before they are buried by the mountain.

The movie is entertaining and has very good special effects. Acting is average and story is tolerable. The blu ray disc is excellent in terms of both video and audio. It also comes with a digital copy. Get it when it is on sale.

I've always loved getting digital copies with my movies which is why I always by the combo. It's like getting the movie twice. I can enjoy it at home with the disc and when I travel I can have it on my computer. I get to enjoy my favorite movies anywhere!

This Movie had the potential to be great if it had a little more character development and developed the plot a little more. As it was, though, I thought it was an ok movie and very watchable. The special effects and the camera work is top notch.

the special effects are excellent in 3D. The story line gives some historical background which is very interesting about the people, location, and time. Must view the special features for the historical info. Well worth the time.

I just couldn't wait to buy this movie and then it finally went on sale and it was worth it plus you get the digital copy that can go anywhere like my tablet. I love Kit Harrington and Sasha Roiz, beautifully photographed and wonderful 3D fx.

This film did not do well in the box-office, but should have. The story was not very original but was well done and the special effects were fantastic. I used it in my Latin classes for background on Pompeii and they were enthralled.

I ordered on pre-sale after watching the movie at the cinema. The plot and the acting is average but I was always intrigued by the Pompeii story and enjoyed the film and thought it would be a nice addition to my 3D DVD collection

I enjoyed the movie. Love that it's based on a real life event. However, I thought it was way too short. It was still a good movie in my opinion. And I love buying from Best Buy all the time. That's where I get my blurays from.
