It can be very hard to place the controller in the right spot and there is little room for error. If you are off to the side just a bit the controller will fall off. I bought the previous ps5 version made by sony and it is so nice. There is like a "large" area to place the controller and it will funnel it down to make the connection. This one is licensed by sony but its cheap and not as good as the sony. I only didnt get that one because I thought this one was just the new version. Buy this instead Sony - PlayStation 5 - DualSense Charging Station - White

I would always fiddle with it just to get the controller to sit on there, and it would take a cool minute just to get it on there. Then it charges slow too. It looks cool, but it was not as convenient as I thought it would be.

You have to keep messing with it to find that happy spot that allows the controller to drop down and charge.
