You better buy stock in batteries...

On a positive note, this thing has really great range. But, even with the so-called auto shutoff, we change the batteries in this thing once every week and a half or two weeks. Too often for me.

    Good design, but not efficient.

Design. Great. Ease of setup. Great. Performance. Good. Efficiency... Terrible. This thing lasts less that 40 minutes with rechargeable batteries. I believe Power A stuck the 1 hour/ 2 hour battery saver button on as an after thought when they realized the bar doesn't last more than a couple of hours. It will start flashing red within the first two hours on a full set. How this got the Nintendo Official Seal slapped on is beyond me, because even the Wii Remote doesn't consume rechargeable batteries as fast as this sensor bar does. (I have not tried lithiums yet, but if it goes through NiMH at the same rate then it's hardly worth the extra investment.) My suggestion; buy this if you REALLY need it, and only bring it out during parties when you know people are going to knock the original sensor bar over.

    Works great

The wireless sensor is great to eliminate the wire going back to the console, from the original sensor. It gives you more flexibility on where to locate your console. Nintento should use this as the original equipment. You already have to purchase enough additional accessories. I does require 4 AA batteries, but they seem to go a long way.

    Good Upgrade

This is a much better sensor than the wired one that came with the game. The batteries last for a good time and it has an auto shut-off (just in case your kids don't turn it off). I recommend anyone get this. We bought it just because it was wireless, but have been very happy with everything about it.

    Not great for everyone...

I actually LIKE the way this connects instantly to your wii automatically. It has great range and reception, and picks up the slightest movement of the wii-motes better than the original sensor. BUT... the "auto-shutoff" is AWFUL! And the listing saying it will "shut off after 'idleness'" is a LIE! The timer turns it off, whether you are using it or NOT! EVERY 1 or 2 hours, depending on which you choose, it SHUTS OFF! VERY ANNOYING! Especially for someone like myself, who is disabled, so getting up to turn it BACK ON every 2 hours is DIFFICULT and PAINFUL! This is getting RETURNED ASAP! I need one that will NOT turn off on it's OWN EVERY 2 hours!!

    Eats through batteries like crazy

I've probably spent $100+ on batteries for this power hog. It's a nice sensor bar in every way, except for the fact that is has a 2 hour battery life with 4 AAs. Come on Nintendo!

    Hope you like buying batteries

I purchased this in-store because it was the only one they had. Big mistake. In three days of moderate use, the batteries were dead. Three days later, after replacing them, same thing. We use the Wii for Netflix and gaming. Most of the time the console was on, the bar was turned off because we were watching shows. The hour or two spent gaming was the only prolonged daily use of the bar itself. Extremely disappointed.

    Battery eater

I thought that this would be a great idea of changing the location of the sensor bar without seeing the wires hanging down. Little did I realize that it would consume 3 sets (4x AA each set) in a month! Also, it sporadically shuts itself off in the middle of game play. We were playing Goldeneye, and during a critical part, we lost control! What's worse, it will stay on after you turn off the Wii. I don't recommend this product to anyone unless you are using the Wii in a HUGE room and have a fortune to spend on batteries.

We had to replace our wired sensor and could only find wireless one. The first one I bought beeped to remind you to turn it off. This one has auto off which is nice.

    Stock Up on Batteries

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Burns through batteries. Whatever value you got with the purchase price is done in just a couple of weeks. Should be a plug in device, not battery operated. Even using rechargeable batteries doesn't help much. You need to have a set recharging while your using the other set. Really don't enjoy having the kids regularly coming to us...the batteries are dead again.
