    Excellent Story, Beautiful World

From the very beginning, the game's story is compelling. Although gameplay itself usually consists of finding items, reaching checkpoints, and killing frenetic enemies, the constantly unraveling mystery in the storyline keeps you addicted. Like your character, you're trying to figure out what happened to your underwater world and navigate the ruins to find answers, among other things. The level-up system in this game is fantastic, allowing you to tailor your abilities (physical and psychic) to how you prefer to play, leveling up only the abilities you choose. The variety in abilities and weapons also keeps the game interesting and fresh. Even though this game is older, the graphics still hold up and offer a mix of beauty and darkness. As for audio, the various voice acting you come across is distinct and convincing. Overall, this is a very good game in all aspects. The game can be changed in difficulty and has plenty of replay value.

Not as good as the first.

Upon beating this game twice, I realized what my problem was with it, I went into it with unrealistically high expectations. Bioshock 1 was so great that I expected the sequel to be even better. I was summarily disappointed. Although the game is by no means terrible, I felt let down by it. The campaign was far too short for me, and significantly shorter than that of its predecessor. I also felt that the story was lacking in comparison to that of the original. Though the protagonist is equally annoying, she just didn't impose herself upon the story the way Andrew Ryan did. However, the gameplay is everything I've come to expect from Bioshock. The plasmids are excellent, and the way in which you upgrade them in this game is nothing short of sublime. The dual wield feature of guns and plasmids is also a very welcome change that made the fighting more intense than ever. My favorite new additions were the drill, and the ability to melee with every weapon. It seems a small change but it worked incredibly well and it flowed perfectly in combat. Overall, this is still a very good game. The story is semi-compelling and it sort of works for this game. But the city of Rapture loses its overall sense of creepiness and dread that was abundantly present in the first game. The combat is excellent, quite possibly better than that of the original. But for any true fan of the original, this game will come as a disappointment.

i bought this game because i kept seeing it on the shelf but was never really interested. i had to get a new xbox because my old one broke and i said, "what the heck." boy, was a surprised. as soon as i started playing it, i was blown away and ran out to get bioshock 1 just to know what the full story was. that game is equally amazing, though bioshock 2 is a lot harder. everything about the game is good.

    Best game I've ever bought

I was skeptical at first because Bioshock 2 is made by a different company than Bioshock 1, but since I loved the first one so much i decided to take the risk. It was the best decision ever. I've already played through the campaign twice, it always keeps my heart racing, it's amazing. Theres new enemies and the storyline is so easy to get into. So the single player is awesome, but how about the multiplayer? I never really imagined a game like Bioshock to have a multiplayer that would run smoothly, but they pulled it off. Except for the occasional lag, the multiplayer is great. There's leaderboard's which most shooters have which is good, so you can compare your stats to your friends and so on. The max level is 40, and as you rank up you unlock new weapons such as the nail gun which is amazing. In addition to that, the multiplayer still includes hacking and abilities that the single player has. The multiplayer is overall great, and make sure to explore all the gametype's such as civil war and capture the sister. This game is by far the best game I've ever bought and I recommend it to everyone!

Sequel to one of the best games ever

If you are reading this and haven't played the original Bioshock, go do it NOW. It is a great game, the voice acting is superb, the characters will draw you into the game, and the excellent audio immerses you in the spooky and detailed fallen metropolis of Rapture. This is the sequel to what would have been game of the year for 2007, had Call of Duty: Modern Warfare not been released. This sequel takes place after the events of the original Bioshock, and you play the role of a Big Daddy, a creature who, without spoiling the storyline, takes care of The Little Sisters. In this game you are given the choice to protect the Little Sisters, or harvest them for personal gain. I do not know much about the story as of yet, but the aspects I am most looking forward to are: the ability to explore the ocean surrounding Rapture, which you couldn't do in the first game. I am also looking forward to using the Big Daddy's Rivet Gun, another feature the first game lacked. In conclusion, GET THIS GAME!!! You will not be disappointed.

    Return to Rapture

As a huge and avid fan of the first Bioshock title I eagerly anticipated the release of it's sequel. As with any other sequel that follows an favorite title of mine, I had high hopes. From the start of the first climatic cutscene I was ensnared into the story and the origins of Delta Series Big Daddy. The story is still just as compelling with the ambigous origins that was notorious in the first title. The action is on a whole nother level. With you playing as a more powerful character, the action is kicked up a notch. The introduction to duel wielding both a firearm and plasmid is just flat out awesome. Ensnaring a foe in lightning and shooting them from across the room with a steel bolt never gets old as you watch them get impaled into a nearby wall. With the whole new feature or a somewhat laggy but nonetheless intense multiplayer this game is a must have for any avid gamer.

    Bioshock, a different angle

When I heard prior to the success of Bioshock, that there was going to be a sequel produced, I was excited. The original storyline and world of rapture was a fascinating place. To think of it from a totally different point of view was intriguing. The story of Johnny Jopside or the main big daddy who is now "awake" offers an insider glimpse into the other half of the founders behind rapture i.e. lamb. The various people you meet that give you the option of kill or let be is awesome as well as the fact you can use such the massive power of a big daddy. It was overall a fun single player game. It uses a similar engine to unreal so shooting a player movement can be jerky at times, sometimes game play is laggy, and the big sister is really cheap and a pain to defeat (there are more than one). The graphics were awesome. But the online game play is questionable in that there are times where lag (given) or that aiming and getting true skill shots on enemies is much more difficult. The movement of the first person shooter is slow to the user, but the characters around you move far more evasively so it can be irratating at times. Other than that, it was a great game to play and very insightful into the massive underwater metropolis known as rapture.

    Great Game!

BioShock 2 is a great Sequel... So if you liked the first this is a must have! In this game you play as a Big Daddy, so that means you start off with a Drill from day one. The weapons and plasmids (special powers) are top notch. You have ability to upgrade each though out the game. The game has great length, and progressively gets harder. Graphic's- are great, with the exception of some of the under water areas, but then again you are under water so it can only be so clear. Game play - spot on.. You have total control and is very responsive, and the replay is strong depending on Saving the Little Sisters (how you earn the plasmid and other extra's) or to extract right away to get the power ups from the start... Over all- This game is a must buy! You will not be disappointed.

Awesome follow up from bio 1. Control of big daddy. For each rank of a plasmid, it has different abilities. Awesome story line. Only downside is that it can be rather tedious at times.

    Great Addition to Bioshock series

Bioshock 2 has improved the overall game-play from the original Bioshock. Dual-wielding with plasmids and weapons add a whole new element to the game. This makes it a whole lot easier and faster for the plasmid/weapon attack combo. 2k Sports has also changed the hacking system of machines. I felt that the way to hack machines in the original Bioshock was too time consuming that took away a bit from the game. They made the process a lot faster to hack. Also you can hack from a distance with the new hack dart tool. I feel that the story line lacks and strays away from the original Bioshock a bit. I knew that it wasn't going to be easy to add to an already great storyline from the original. Although I didn't find this as scary/shocking, they still found a way to keep it interesting. The addition of online play did nothing but help expand the game-play. You can now fight against others in different game modes. The more you play the higher rank you become. The higher rank that you become, the more abilities and upgrades you have available. This is a great shooter game which it sure to please.

This game is really amazing. It has everything that the first one had, plus more. I have not tried the multiplayer yet, but It looks amazing and heard it is good. The story is a little confusing when you first play, but you eventually start understanding it. I would recommend anyone to get this game because so far I think this is Game of the Year!!!!

    Bioshock 2 - Rapture makes a 2nd splash

Bioshock 2 is not much different from the first except it's lacking in plot, where the first one excelled. It's a bit redundant in that you're just doing the same tasks over and over and fighting all the same big guys. There are a couple new characters that will help or try to hinder along the way. Also new to this game is the multiplayer feature. I experienced glitches part way through game that made the voices disappear for an hour(then they played consecutively for 15 mins when i restarted the 360 later), and took away all my weapons except the drill, hack dart gun, and camera. I still had my Plasmid energy weapons in full, and it let me pick up ammo for all the guns, but greyed them out in my equipment wheel for the entire 2nd half of my game, after many restarts made in vain. Good thing the drill is my favorite. Technical issues aside, I'm a big fan of the Bioshock games and thought it was fun. I'm even eager to play again on the other difficulty settings. I'm also curious how the game ends if you harvest the little sisters iinstead of saving them. The plot will twist a bit depending your choice.

Bioshock was an excellent game. it is definetly your moneys worth with just the campaign and you will end up playing it 2+ times if u want the 2 endings. It also won many awards. including game of the year!! So Bioshock 2. you return to Rapture! :) and you will have a chance to play as a Big Daddy! how awsome is that!! using that drill to protect or get your little sister! there is also a new big sister character! and as i mentioned before, you will have your little sisters to take care of and fight for. and in the campaign before you were under sea but didn't get a chance to go and explore in the water. but this time you will be able to swim and find different locations. and hidden spots. Also there will be a new online multiplayer of versus which i am soo looking forward to!! it will have your plasmas, so you can combine them with your environment to defeat your opponents. like fire with oil. water with electricity. etc etc. that includes the weapons as well :) this is just all too awsome! great game! release date 02/09/2010!! ya baby! I hope this information helps youI :)

Still a great game, even with the change of character. Being a big daddy is a bit funner getting to weild a giant drill instead of a monkey wrench. Tons of ways to fight depending on your plasmid assortment, but eventually you get so powerful its not too challenging. Still good for at least 2 playthroughs though

    Exciting installment

Bioshock 2 is an awesome installment alongside the original. The developers added in all of the things I think fans of the first one were looking for and the game delivers tons of what I loved in the original. The levels are detailed and tell a story as you go along. Questions are answered and the entire experience engulfs the player. The only thing I would want is for the game to be longer. Although there is quite a bit to it, I felt like I finished it pretty quickly. Don't fret though. The multiplayer is suprisingly awesome and has a story in itself. It's a nice spin on your typical shoot-em-up multiplayer. I recommend this to everyone who loved the first one and to anyone that HASN'T played the first one—play it and then come back and play this one.

Not as great a return trip

Rapture seems a little worse for the wear the second time through. It's still a joy to navigate everything and collect all the journal entries and eat everything you see without regard to what it is. The narrative is still top notch though the story this time seems quite weak and the main antagonist grinds on and on about how worthless you are; she begins repeating herself in so many different ways by the end that you just want to turn off all forms of outward communication so you don't have to hear it. I enjoyed myself for the most part, but this addition did only a few things new this time around and stayed in completely comfortable ground gameplay-wise. The story lacked the punch and shock from the original and rapture seems rather drab from the first visit. It's much like going to disneyworld for the second time in your life only a few years after your first visit: there's still some magic and some new stuff there, but it can never shine as much as the first time you saw it.

A superb follow up to the original hit.

Bioshock 2 is the sequel no one asked for, but stands up to the original with only a few caveats. The story has no huge twist, but builds up slowly over the course of several hours. The gameplay is a huge improvement over the original, but still gets repetitive as time goes on. It's a worthy successor to Bioshock, but don't expect the same revelations the first game brought to the industry.

Overall, this is a great game that I'd recommend to anyone. It's very similiar to the original, with a twist - you're the big daddy! The only problem I have is that I was able to beat it in less than 2 weeks. That's playing around college and homework. All in all I think I put 20-25 hrs into it. I hope there's going to be expansions released on xbox live! Buy it. You won't be disappointed.
