For those of you who missed Frank West in the original version of Dead Rising 2, you'll be pleased to find out that he's back and in proper form in this re-imagining. If you're familiar with the series, the only real addition is a Sandbox Mode that will allow you to kill zombies to your heart's content without any time restraints. If you really, really missed Frank West or never purchased the original DR2, it's worth picking up at a reasonable price. For those of you who have the other entries, I wouldn't call this game necessary. The plot doesn't deviate much from the original Dead Rising 2. It's the lack of innovation for the money spent that earns this one 3 stars from me, but I would still recommend it to a friend who didn't have the original DR2. If I were new to DR2, it would have gotten 4 stars.

While a good idea, and better than the original character, this game seems very rushed as multiple glitches exist, such as the character freezing in place. This glitches happen very often and often cause me to reset my console, as I cannot pause and quit. If you are lucky, or are willing to tolerate it for the different story, I recommend this. Otherwise, Dead Rising 2 was better in about every way.

An upgraded version of Dead Rising 2

Dead Rising 2 was a great game, this is somewhat like a directors cut. It adds some new thing like items and weapon combinations, but not enough to make a huge difference to the game. The main difference is the protagonist is a completely different character than Chuck Greene of Dead Rising 2 Vanilla. It's interesting to see the differences in the story but it's also disappointing how many scenes were just recycled from the original game. If you really loved Dead Rising 2, you'll probably like Off the Record, but don't expect too much of a difference.
