This is a review of the Steelbook edition, NOT the game itself. The game has been out in episodic form for a while and Square Enix has released a number of bonus missions for the PS4 (and now -- in Dec 2017 -- the holiday pack on both PS and XBox). This edition of the game comes in a beautiful gray steelbook. All the content is NOT on the disc and there are a couple of codes to download the following: - the Hitman Soundtrack - the Making of Hitman documentary - the Requiem: Blood Money pack - three bonus episodes (Landslide, The Icon, and A House Built o Sand) If you haven't played the game yet and are torn between the Steelbook Edition and the digital download, I would recommend getting the former.

As customary on my reviews, I feel obligated to state my purchase price because that is a deciding factor in my rating of the product. This was on sale for $30 at time of purchase. That was my buy price, and I 100% regret not being able to play this game sooner because it is my favorite game in the Hitman series (played them all). The game itself is what you make it. There are only 6 main missions in the game. You can fly through these missions if you want to, although it would still take you 8-10 hours I'd guess. The beauty is there isn't a right or wrong way to progress the missions. I won't say there are infinite ways to go about things, but there are a lot of different ways to beat a mission, all yielding a different experience. Lots of replayability if you enjoy the game. There are also monthly contracts, events, etc put on to continue support of the game and breathe some new life into it. There is also a bit more beef with the Playstation version of the game in the form of bonus contracts/missions. The included steelbook is actually very nice in my opinion, it's a plain white color with some embossing effects. Also includes a slipcover. T There are a few more extras in this edition as well. I think you get a Soundtrack, a documentary, some bonus DLC. Overall this is my favorite Hitman game to date, and one of my favorite PS4 titles so far. I think I would recommend this game for $40, cheaper than that is a must buy, if you are a fan of the Hitman series. It seems like a steal at $30.

If you are a fan of Hitman's sandbox gameplay before Hitman Absolution, you will be in for a treat. This new version of Hitman plays out more like an evolved form of Hitman Blood Money. Unlike Absolution, guards don't easily see through all of your disguises. Only certain guards are able to see your disguises and that is based on what outfit you're wearing. There are also many ways to assassinate your targets instead of merely shooting them, snapping their necks, or using the fiber wire. In a way, the game plays more like a puzzle game in that you have to figure out a way to isolate and assassinate your target in public places. There aren't too many flaws other than the story being really lite and uninteresting. The only story segments you see are after mission cutscenes. For some reason you also don't have the dual ballers, which are 47's signature weapons. The score is also weak and not memorable to Jesper Kyd's music from earlier games. At least David Bateson is still voicing 47. Running through the story missions and the DLC bonus episode missions will take you around 10 hours if you try to play the game stealthy. There are lots of challenges to go through with finding out various ways to assassinate your target. Moreover, you have user created assassination missions too so replay value is high. If you're a PS4 Pro owner, the game has support for HDR and unlocked framerate/locked 30 fps.

Hitman has always been a favorite franchise of mine (games, not the movies). This one definitely did not disappoint. I think it's the best of the series as there's just so much to do and the levels are massive. And the game just keeps on giving with all the constant updates and elusive targets. Buy buy buy!!

I read the reviews about this game online and it had great reviews. The quality of the graphics and sound are amazing. The gameplay is great and you can choose to go different areas to play the game like Paris. Highly Recommended.

There are many missions that require the same thing, kill your target. There are many ways to get that done which makes this game fun. Poison your target, shoot, sabotage. Plenty of fun ways to do each assassination target.

This is a game about carefully choosing how to approach your enemies and you have several options for doing so. It can take some trial and error, so be patient and creative.

At first I thought the season format was kind of weird, but now that you can get every episode together it's fine, and you can usually find it at a good price. Later episodes are better but I liked it overall.

Great Progress for the Hitman brand

When Hitman originally came out over a a year ago and I heard it was going to be episodic, I was highly skeptical. Why would I pay full price for a game now that I will only get one level at a time over many months? I have every previous Hitman game and, unlike many fans, even enjoyed the most recent Absolution (although yes, Blood Money was the best). "Hold on a second", you may think, "didn't he just say 'was'?" Yes. This new iteration of the franchise is highly polished, strategic, and grand in scope. I was looking forward to getting this edition of the game so I could play the whole game without needing to wait, but I actually regret not getting onboard sooner and experiencing the missions one by one with everyone else. I missed out on all the special contracts (which is part of the reason why I docked this game a star. I feel cheated that they'll never come back.) plus I didn't have much incentive to go back and try the missions over and over again when I could just move on to the next one. The missions do have many interesting paths to take, so if you're into replaying levels, you'll defintely get your money out of it. Unfortunately for me, I really just wanted more unique missions and the quantity of levels just wasn't there either. Hitman is a wonderful example of episodic done right and I truly hope they can keep going with a second season and make it even bigger and longer than this season. The steel case is a nice collectible, but the digital content is all but superfluous. Really wish the soundtrack was on CD.
