Customers are saying

Customers recognize the engaging story and fun, smooth gameplay as major strengths of Pre-Owned Tales of Berseria. The well-done battle system and easy-to-learn controls also receive positive feedback. However, some customers mention that the game environments could be improved and that the difficulty may be too easy for some players. A few also noted minor issues with the translation.

Berseria is a prequel to the Zestiria games. I really liked this one because the protagonists really aren't great people. The combat is the usual Tales style but this time it seems simpler to pull off the harder combos and techniques. They also mostly did away with the super grindy gear system from the previous games and let leveling actually improve your characters again. The story is good and the game is a lot of fun. Expect 100+ hours and multiple paythroughs for the platinum though, this is still a Tales game after all.

The Tales of games always have great characters and engaging storys, however, this one improves the combat and takes it to the next level. Also, like all Tales of games, this one has local multiplayer.

I played this after Zestiria. It improves on it in every way. The story has a darker tone, but manages to keep the cheery Tales feel. If you're a Tales fan, you'll want this game in your collection.

In my opinion, this is tr best game in the “Tales” series. Gorgeous graphics and very fluid gameplay. the storytelling is top-notch as well, even when compared to other JRPGs.

I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet, but it's great. I have to say the controls are much more user-friendly than in Tales of Zestiria (ps4 versions). The story is a neat departure from the typical Tales games, too, where the protagonist is the Shepherd. In Berseria, it's quite the opposite. Like I said, I'm probably only about halfway through, but I'm excited to see the rest of the story play out!

I tend to love the tales series and when I heard this was part of the previous game as a prequel in some senses I was a bit turned off on the game. As I started it it does feel like a completely different game set in the similar world but the battle system is different I would say a lot funner than it has been in the past. The story is also engaging.

If you never played any of game of the Tales series, you won't be disappointed. This is the first game of the Tales series and it is pretty fun. The mechanics are unique and not that hard to learn. Tutorials in the game takes pretty long, but its to let you maximize the learning of all the mechanics. It is a great game!

I'm basing this review on roughly 20 hours of play. The quick take away: - Great Characters, very memorable - Not your average Tales of story, a bit darker but very rewarding - Music is fantastic as is always the case - Battle system is easy but not boring and you don't have to micro manage all your party too much

This is my first foray into the Tales series and my first anime-style game. Dark Souls is probably my favorite game of all time, so this was definitely a change. Souls requires patient, precise timing in combat and the exploration seems open-ended. In Tales, the combat seems more like frantic button-mashing and there is basically no freedom to explore. I really like the furious, intense personality of the main character in Tales, but the drab environments and manic combat were not to my liking.

45 Hours into the game, and I am still impressed by how much it feels like the traditional Tales games, pre-Vesperia. Lots of mini games, a party of misfits and anti-heroes, a revamped battle system that breaks long-standing Tales conventions, and much more await the serious jRPG player.

Probably my favorite addition to the Tales series in a while, this game has a great story from the top with enough new mechanics to make it a breath of fresh air. The combat is pretty fast paced for a Tales game and the game overall will pull you in.
