An outrageous masterpiece of a show. Quirky characters, a vampire buddy, a mystery revolving god, amazing action, and a preacher who contains the power of command which is called Genesis. There's a whole bunch of insane to go around here. S1 is a bit slow but I love this series so much. Only negative is that this release is censored.

This show is wonderful. The DVD also came with a digital copy when I first purchased it, but I'm not sure if more current copies will have it.

This will grab your attention on first glimps, as the series opens with a cosmic entity that crosses the galaxy, finds its way to Earth, where it inhabits a preacher in Africa who explodes soon being inhabited. It only gets weirder from that point on. A real mixed up tail with an Irish vampire who parachutes into town (without a chute), and befriends a young Texas preacher returning to a place he grew up, He tries to save the small town, only he too becomes possessed by that same cosmic entity that inhabits his body. A real twisted tail complete with iconic inhabitance of the desolate small town that engage the preacher daily. Can't wait for season 2 to start!

I tried to watch this on AMC when it originally aired but ended up missing the third episode then hoped it would get a blu release. It did! Even watching AMCHD the picture quality was less then stellar. The Blu is WAY BETTER then broadcast... As for the show. What a crazy ride. Vampire, Vampire hunters, A preacher - a kid with a face that has to be seen to believe, cloning Angels and a space alien which blows preachers up. (My favorite is the Tom Cruise news item. This plays in the background so kind of pay attention). I will say it can be hard to follow, but it is just a fun ride of nonsense which will make you ask yourself who came up with this idea?

    review of Preacher

Originally a comic book saga, ( which I admittedly have never read, but have been told by those that HAVE read the print version, that the this film adaptation does not necessarily follow the print version in some ways. That said, and not having been privy to the print version, I thought it was an excellently done, edgy series in the vein of series such as Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, Game of Thrones, etc. Altho, this series dels with the preacher of a small Texas town, who develops unconventional poets thru a mysterious entity.

Having read the comic this show is based on, I knew what I was in for. That said, the action of the comic didn't really happen in this "prequel-like" first season. The show spent its time instead building up the backstory of the three EXCELLENT leads. Does a fantastic job of paving the way for the fantastic writing and acting staff to take it away for the already-announced Season 2.

This show was a well-thought out adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's masterpiece from the 90's. While no show could capture the insanity and unpredictability of the original material, this show captures the feel brilliantly. Tulip and Cassidy are spot on perfect, Jesse is the only character that waffles from time to time. Only a Texan can play a convincing Texan on tv. ,

I love this show, and can't wait until season two comes on later this month (June 2017) The show is just very creative and unlike anything else on TV right now . I really hope they keep this one around for a while and not cancel it like they did The Outsiders and Sun Records (2 other great shows) Great acting and very unique storytelling on Preacher.

I really didn't like the first episode, which really worried me, bc on paper I should love this show. Well, stick with it, and it really finds its voice. a supernatural "fargo", the collection of Coen-esque losers here make for a great season. This is one of those shows I almost don't want to see another season of, as it's so neatly self-contained, it feel like it can only go down from here...

I got into this show as a fan of the comic series. It was a really easy transition for me as the show does such a great job of staying along with the source material without following it verbatim. Very cool stories and characters are amazing! Check it out! but not with the kids, this is not that kind of comicbook adaptation...

The series is quirky, dark and have some strong humorous moments. The series is a great take on the comic series. The cinematography is excellent and the performances are strong. At times it has a strong raw feel and that can pull viewers in. The packaging standard but durable. There are a ton of extras to grab a hold of on the discs.

I started working on season 3 in New Orleans and wanted to see what I was going to be working on. Great cast and crew. The show itself is awsome. Front what I’ve read of season 2 and from what we have shot for season 3 so far i can honestly say this is going to be a great series. Getting season two this weekend.

We missed the first season on TV but wanted to catch up before season 2 aired. This was a quick and easy way to do it. This show is not for everyone as there is violence and adult content that is a little more intense than what is normally shown on TV, but if you're into very dark humor, then this may be for you.

The original 75 issue comic book run is way more edgy and violent than this version of the bizarre world of Preacher, but this show is a great intro to it. You don't need to read the comics to enjoy this, but man is it fun to see this world come alive in this show. The great casting of the actors in this is pure genius.

This is a gritty show with a lot going for it. Based on a comic book, it is able to tell a story that most would be afraid to. Worth watching, if you aren't easily offended by a taboo storyline. Excellent characters and story that can take a little getting used to, but well worth watching.

They had to change/ modify some aspects of the original graphic novel - but lets be realistic ... a straight up telling of the book would have been too graphic even for cable TV. Even with the changes, it still works - the actors they picked for Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy are perfect.

Haven't started watching yet but only buy a TV show after checking multiple web sites like Rotten Tomatoes etc., reading a ton of reviews and checking the number of viewers in wiki. This show checks all the boxes, plus it's AMC, so I'm looking forward to it.

With an abstract ensemble of a vampire, a church lady, ex-partner in crime, a teen who failed suicide, a small town magnate, even angels working in secret. Follow this preacher try to follow in his father's footsteps in this drama/comedy/horror.
