Problem Child Tantrum Pack.
This review is strictly for this collection, and not the movies themselves. If you want to see my reviews for the actual films, I've done that on the items' respective pages.
The Problem Child Tantrum Pack combines the first two films in the Problem Child series, in a single-disc collection. Both films feature a fullscreen presentation and the respective trailers.
I've always been a fan of the Problem Child movies. From my childhood right up to the present days, these have always been laugh-out-loud films that never failed to please me. With the advent of DVDs, an obvious good idea was to combine the films in the series onto a single DVD.
It's a good idea, but the execution of it here is horrible.
First of all, both movies are presented in a cropped fullscreen presentation. Why couldn't they present the films in their original aspect ratio? Or honestly, would it be that hard to just give the viewer a choice of widescreen/fullscreen? If you're going to release a DVD as fullscreen, fine. But release a widescreen one too, so cinemaphiles can view the films as the directors intended. In the age of DVDs, there's no excuse for a package like this to be fullscreen only.
The image quality is also low. There are pops and hisses in the picture everywhere, throughout both films. Could the company have at least made some effort to clean things up? Even a little bit of remastering could have gone a long way here.
Next of all, the set only has the first two films, and lacks the made-for-TV third film. I admit, the third installment is the weak link in the series, and pales in comparison to the first two. But it IS part of the Problem Child series, and as such, does belong here. British Region 2 releases DO include the third film, so if you're going to get this collection and you have a multi-region DVD player, import the British release.
Another huge flaw is the lack of bonus features. I admit, even the sold-separately release of the original Problem Child on DVD suffered from this same problem. But even that DVD at least included filmographies and some information on the making of the film. Would it have killed them to include that stuff here?
But the biggest flaw of the entire collection: THE DELETED SCENES FROM THE TELEVISION AIRINGS ARE NOT INCLUDED. This was it, the perfect Problem Child collection - or at least it was supposed to be. How could they not include these!? I've been waiting for a home video release with these scenes, but so far no luck. I won't go into detail describing them here, scene-by-scene, but I am extremely disappointed these weren't included.
I'm as big a fan of the Problem Child series as you'll ever meet. But this is a lackluster, slapped-together collection that doesn't do the series justice. Maybe someday a perfect collection will be released, with all three films, bonus features, and the deleted scenes. But in the meantime, if you must get this set, import the British version so you can get all three films (if you have a multi-region player, that is.) This is a great film series - and it deserves a better collection.
Thumbs up for the movies, thumbs down for this collection.

This is a classic that you must to have. Even if it still not available on Bluray, this DVD includes both Problem Child and Problem Child 2. It worth every penny you spend on it.

I can't necessarily give the 'Problem Child' films credit for being top-notch quality, but they sure did make me laugh, and quite often too! Recommended!
