Get rid of cardboard mailers and use boxes

It’s seriously time for some better packaging. I have a hilariously high rate of damage ranging from small dents to steelbooks bent in half. I’m reaching the point of no longer wanting to order my steelbooks from Best Buy.
Invisible man came in a box for some reason and it was flawless. Those cardboard mailers are horrible for an item that dents easily. Nearly every time I order from one of your competitors the steelbook comes flawless. It’s sad that I find that I’m lowering my standards for Best Buy steelbooks.
What’s worse is that I place my preorders the second these items become available. They come late and damaged. You’re out of stock. Now I’m at the mercy of eBay scalpers or have to accept a damaged item.
At least give us the option to pick up in store when preordering. Or give us advice on when we can switch to that option because the switch to store pickup button is nearly always disabled.

Review of packaging. Not the wonderful movie

The review is in no way about the movie. Psycho is an amazing watch and deserves 5+ stars. The review is for the egregious packaging that is sent when delivering steelbooks. The copy I received was completely smashed in at the top and had broken spine magnet. All steelbooks need to be delivered in boxes not plastic mailer bags.

Unedited Psycho in glorious 4K

Older movies look stunning in 4K--and Psycho is one of the best. Clear picture, clean sound. Packaging is great too. This was my first Steelbook purchase, and it looks good on the shelf with the rest of my slipcase 4Ks. The unedited version gives us Hitchcock's original theatrical cut. Loads of extras, including the 6+ minute trailer that I saw at a drive-in as a kid. No regrets in buying this separately from the 4-film collection.

Psycho is a recognized film with a well-known story about Marion Crane performed by Janet Leigh. She works inside of a Phoenix, Arizona office and when Marion’s employer trusts her with a larger amount of money, and he gives it to her. Marion wants to live a new life with her fiancé, Sam, performed by John Gavin. Marion leaves right away and she drives with her car towards Southern California where her lover is located. When Marion is caught by a major storm later on in the movie, she leaves the highway and enters Bates Hotel property. The hotel has twelve rooms, and they are managed by a strange young man, Norman Bates performed by Anthony Perkins, who is obsessed and dependent on his overbearing mother. Furthermore, a detective named Arbogast performed Martin Balsam, and Marion’s sister are performed by Vera Miles. Her fiancé Sam and Marion’s sister are looking for Marion. They are asking for help from a stubborn sheriff performed by John McIntire. The shower scene in the movie is one of the most studied, copied and analyzed sequences in cinema history because the toilet was the first to show up in this film. Beautiful performance by Anthony Perkins is in an immortal role as Norman Bates and a memorable performance by Janet Leigh. Imaginative and superbly constructed plot, filled with delicious black humor by writer Joseph Stefano based on Robert Bloch's novel, Psycho. The shots in the movie were excellent in black and white cinematography by the cameraman John Russell. Hitchcock thought it wouldn’t be very gory in color, and this was a low budget horror film. The musical score by legendary Bernard Herrmann makes it is endlessly encouraging score to create a thrilling atmosphere for a virtuous film.

PSYCHO gets the 4K 60th Anniversary Treatment

This is a pretty good steelbook for the 60th Anniversary of this classic Alfred Hitchcock movie. The movie itself is just gorgeous now. There is NO dirt, specks or blurriness in scenes at all. I compared this 4K disc notably to the previous Blu-ray that has been out for sometime by Universal.
Hands down, the 4K is superior in every way.
If you own a previous PSYCHO release on Blu-ray, go and watch the scenes in the office where Janet Leigh's character goes into the office. Watch that whole thing. You will notice dirt, specks and some blurry scenes. That is all gone now.
I always watch my movies on the Sony 4K player and 4K TV. Trust me, there is no better version of this movie than this one for picture quality. Now, the technical problem seems to be with some reviewers on amazon saying the DTS X version (which amounts to a 7.1 audio) is not right. I had no problems with it, also the DTS 2.0 version that is available from the audio menu.
All special features are ported over from the previous Blu-ray release for this movie. I see nothing brand new for this 60th Anniversary Edition in that sense. I think everything that has been done for interviews, etc. is in this release.
You have an additional 13 seconds added now in the UNCUT version, which is the Theatrical version originally shown.
The one we have all been used to over the years was the edited down version for TV broadcasts, home video releases, until now.

Image quality and sound are amazing. Even though I have seen this film many times this version elevates the experience to a level as if I am seeing it for the first time. I am seeing and hearing things in this version that I never noticed before.

The restoration of Psycho looks amazing on 4K and even the new 1080 bluray looks so much better than the previous release! The option of the original uncut won't offer too much more for content but it's great to finally have it here in the US! The steel is also a great look too!

Just picked this up the other day. I love Hitchcock, especially Psycho. And I have to admit it does look amazing in 4K. Not only does it look fantastic, but the steelbook includes the uncut version of Psycho,
If you are a HItchcock fan, or a fan of Psycho, or just like old-school horror movies, definitely add this one to your collection.

Love the Steel book artwork.
The 4k transfer is very clean. Surprisingly, there is only a slight layer of grain here. All tears and scratches were repaired.
The Uncut version only has very small additions. Blink and you miss them.
Very good special features and there are a lot of them.

Incredible 4k remaster! In addition, this steelbook has the uncut version as well. This steelbook is currently the only way to get the 4k presentation. Unbelievable picture for such a classic movie. Must own and the steelbook is awesome.

Film Fanatics, cinephiles, and 4k shoppers, Do not miss! I do blame the studio for never assembling the full theatrical cut ever before on home entertainment. It's nice having that minute added back in but it's not a huge deal. I am a purist though and it's good to have it back in. I haven't gone through the features but I believe they may have just ported them over from previous releases. This is all fine and dandy because the payoff in 4k is amazing. The film has never looked better. This is a can't miss purchase.
