This NAS, coupled with the Plex app, has allowed me to bring my movie collection anywhere I go along with storage of all my photos and documents. It's sturdy and runs quiet and cool while not drawing too much power. It has saved my laptop's life as I no longer need it as a personal home server.

I am amazed that Best Buy carries such a quality home/small business NAS. This is in another league over the typical backup devices advertised in the weekly ads. There are so many capabilities provided by Qnap. Currently I am just focusing on my initial need to centralize and make accessible our digital photos. This is such a simple use, but now we can view our pictures from mobile devices from anywhere. I tested storing digital copies of movies I own and they can be easily viewed in the same manner without fear of destroying the original disc. Soon I will start scanning old photos and storing them in albums, as well. This is a well positioned NAS. It is more useful then simple backup devices, can run virtual operating systems, act as a mail server, web server, and the list goes on. All the extra functionality does not interfere with my basic needs. At this point I have not used the HDMI interface, only accessing the software through my mobile devices and a web interface. The 251+ has worked flawlessly so far. I suggest looking at the Youtube videos on line reviewing the capabilities and looking over various forums. I might add I purchased mine using a holiday season special price match from a major PC/Electronics store. Same for my twin seagate red 3TB hard drives.
