Trying to build out mu connected home and after a summer of high water bills I knew I needed to do something. Then I found Rachio. Rachio replaces your dumb sprinkler controller and connects to the internet. Local weather stations know when it is raining in your area so Racho will not water when it is raining. Racho has a great web and mobile app so you have total control of when and how much you water no mater where you are. I had significant savings my first year using it. Plus it is just cool to control your sprinkler from your phone.

Before you insert the wires, push down on each numbered levers to see how they work with a small screwdriver. Bc once you insert a wire, it can be very tough to get out. Great Product. Worth the money. I don't know if it really saves you that much money, besides your local water co rebate. It's a great update to your old sprinkler controller. Easy to use on your phone. Wi-Fi dropped once, it's been 4 weeks now with it. The 16 zone is overpriced imo. Although I still think it's great.

Bought this controller for me vacation house as the previous controller is not as flexible. It is very easy to program and works okay most of the time. It skips cycles in case like raining correctly and accurately (most of the time) even w/o a rain sensor, as this house is pretty close to an airstrip, and it can read info of the weather station over there through internet.

This product is amazing. I love that it tracks the weather to know when you might need your lawn watered and doesn't make you get out of bed when you forgot to turn the sprinklers on.

Contemplated changing the existing old school 12 zone bulky controller for some time. Was the best decision to do so. Clever device, eliminating the need for sensors, connecting to the nearest weather station, doing seasonal adjustments automatically, and figuring out the right amount of watering for all the zones separately. The setup was hard and relatively time consuming, as you need to enter the slope, the soil type and the vegetation type for all zones separately. The soaking function needs to be skipped (at least it needed to be skipped for me, as otherwise I would have paid several thousand dollars for just the first day of watering). Understand the purpose of soaking though. Controls when you need to is very easy (all I did was to hold the schedules for winter). The information it provides is very vast and helpful as well. Feels expensive, but do not forget to factor in the $100 rebate (some areas may be different amount though). And the water savings you will get or the convenience of not having to manage the other dumb controllers based on weather reports... Setup was easy, although in my case, I had to get an extension cord as there was no outlet close by.

I did a ton of research and found Rachio to be the best and most advanced option. Installation and set up was super easy. I was done in under 20 min. I like all the features and options, but also can be a set and forget type set up if you'd like. I've had it installed for two weeks now and it's doing a great job cycling and changing its schedule based on weather/rainfall. Highly recommended.

Easy to install and set up. Great to have an internet connected controller that has automatic schedule adjustments for seasons and rainy days. Very convenient for checking sprinkler operation using the phone app to turn on any zone from out in the yard.

The setup and performance has been great so far. Easy interface and a breeze to setup, though I am going to need to revisit to better dial in the soil type and take advantage of the full system capability. Looking forward to doing this and moving to the daily flex schedule in the spring. Smart system just skipped a scheduled watering due to temperature dipping beneath freezing during a surprise cold front. Was a pleasant surprise. Only thing I would improve is the ability to drag and drop tiles in the interface, instead of requiring a change to the wiring if you want to re-order them.

It was easy to install. After one small glitch and a quick e-mail to support I was rolling! I love how it alters the schedule based on the needs of the lawn and how easy it is to customize the zones to meet the slope and how much sun each gets. I really can't attest to any true water savings as we are in peak summer months, but being able to water from the mobile device and set your schedule more than pays for the convenience of this sprinkler system.

I purchased this controller to replace my 8 zone rainbird. The controller was fairly easy to install and I was able to do it in approximately 30 minutes. Setup was guided and super easy. I have set my schedule and it's great to be able to control my sprinkler system from my phone anywhere.

I wanted a system I could control from my phone and could connect to a local weather station and skip watering after, during and or before a significant rain. This system has done that and it has many other little perks in fine tuning the individual zones in the watering cycle. Love it.

Was looking for something to manage 14 zones from my phone/tablet/mac while being able to receive a report on water usage and past watering. This device does all of that any more. No more going into the garage and hitting a switch to listen for a zone to be on. I love the fact I can take pictures of each zone where I am able to identify my zones as well as my wife especially with her not knowing our irrigation set up. I can easily tell her to turn on a specific zone by a picture. Another plus is this device is EPA approved so I am eligible for rebates from my local water company which cut this cost in half. So the rebate mixed with the water savings and convenience results in me getting paid for this device. Pair this with some Hunter MP Rotators and you are set! Be like me, read reviews and go to YouTube video reviews and you will be convinced.

The features this sprinkler has are awesome. It will use weather stations close to you house to determine if you yard needs watering or not. Additionally you can setup a wireless sensor if there isn't one within a mile or so of your home.

I had a commercial quality mechanical timer / controller installed when our sprinkler system was put in about 20 years ago. It served it's purpose, but was finally showing its age this past year. I was also in the process of adding smart home features around the house, so the timing was good. So far - 3 Google Home's, 4 Chromecast audio's and 2 Chromecasts, 2 Nest thermostats and 6 Nest smoke detectors, along with 4 Google WiFi pucks in a standard mesh configuration. I started researching smart sprinkler controllers last autumn, and planned to be ready in the spring to replace the old mechanical controller with one. Rachio made it to the top of the list in virtually all the serious reviews I read. Some others are almost neck and neck with it -- and admittedly it might be nice to have more of a visual display and control panel on the unit itself, but overall Rachio struck me as the one to pick. Installation was a breeze. When I was taking down the old unit, I labeled all the wires with their zone number (I have 10 active zones, so I got the 16 zone Rachio controller). I wound up shortening the controller cable harness a bit, as I didn't need the last extra foot of wire that had been stuffed in the open space in the old controller box. I stripped the leads and popped them in, including a lead for the master valve (my system has one -- some do, some don't - this is optional as needed). I installed the Android app on my phone, fired up the controller, and it only took a few minutes for the app to connect to the controller (bluetooth initially) and for me to configure the controller to connect to my Wi-Fi setup. I had already made sure that the Wi-Fi propagated by my Google WiFi setup reached well into the garage (where the controller is mounted on the wall) - and beyond, so this was a breeze. It took me a bit of reading to understand how the zones are set up. Rachio needs to know (or make assumptions) about the type of nozzles you have in each zone, what kind of soil and plants you have in each, how much sun or shade each gets, etc. You also need to select a local weather station for the controller to talk to in order to fetch weather reports and forecasts. That was as far as i went. If you have the need and desire, you can wire in physical rain sensors, water flow sensors, and hook up multiple Rachio controllers to operate cooperatively for very large yards. In the end - I love it. There's a learning curve to getting it configured properly - but even if you use defaults, it's already better than any of the old "dumb" controllers in that it's aware of weather, temperature, rain, etc., and will adjust to compensate (unless you configure it not to!). There's a great online community, and Rachio has reps in the forums who participate very actively. Overall - excellent product, company and experience. I would recommend this in a heartbeat. Jon

Are you tired of having your spouse nag you about forgetting to water? Are you tired of having to get out of bed in the middle of the night because they want proof you did what you said you were going to do?Then the Rachio controller is for you. This piece integrates with almost all home automation systems on the market and it makes watering a breeze. Take notes from your old system if you had it fine tuned, there will be a slight learning curve with programming this new piece. Sweet thing is it can all be done anywhere from the app. Weather intelligence, and networking through shared weather data and location will help save you time and money on your lawn. Customer service is amazing and all can be installed with no professional help needed.
