I am not a gamer, I am a graphic designer, I work 12 hours a day with the mouse, more or less. It is hard to explain how a mouse should be but I have learned through years of working that when I hold a mouse once I know if I want it or not, and I know why (for my preferences, of course, people are different). I have been using Razer models for more than 8 years, and the best one I found was the Taipan, which I bought many of that model for me and my staff. But today I picked up my first Basilisk and I had a feeling that I am going to return it the day after, because of the shape, but I had to try, and it turned out that I was wrong. The weight is well-thought and the mouse moves properly with the right amount of push (when you work more than 10 hours a day, it makes a big difference how much the mouse reacts to the push). Basilisk is weighted perfectly, even better than Taipan. The shape is perfect! Not too small, but small enough to be handled with the two fingers on the buttons, without having the palm pushing the back. Again, I am not a gamer, but the little switch they added to the left side of the mouse is very beneficial, if you will, for whatever reason you want to use, I use it to render the page in the web-design app I use since I have to render once every few minutes, and the switch is very well-positioned. The scroll stiffness is adjustable, but... it could be better if their app supported smooth scrolling in MacOs. It is a pity that the mouse can be adjusted to smooth scroll, but the app does not support it in MacOS, so basically it is just useless, and scrolling is still stepped. The sensor, as I apprehended, is the same as the one in Deathadder, which is more than enough for human's hand gesture capability, lol. Anyhow, I am kipping it and I love it, good job Razer. I tried almost all models, and return almost all of them (except the Deathadders, and Taipans), but I am keeping this one, this is my new favorite mouse.

I've never been a fan of Razer products, for several reasons. However I am building a gaming rig for my girlfriend who is newer to PC gaming. So I took her to Best Buy and let her try out all the demo model mice on display. Out of several brands & types, she chose this Razer mouse. I tried it and had to admit, it felt great in my hand compared to the competition, including the new line of my beloved Logitech G's. So we bought it and took it home. I wasn't thrilled about it, until I sat down with it... I've been using the mouse a week, and I'm in love! I have joint pain in my hands, and my Logitech G causes me discomfort quickly. This Razer basilisk feels good for hours longer, much more comfortable to use. The clutch button with interchangeable pedals is a nice touch. I don't mind only having 2 thumb buttons. I never use all 4 on my Logitech mouse anyway. So there, a Razer hater turned to a Razer customer. I'll be buying another one of these mice for myself soon. I only knock off one star because of the Razer software required. It's bloated with a clunky GUI.

I purchased this product as a secondary gaming mouse for my gaming laptop. I got tired of unplugging the mouse from my gaming desktop. My main mouse is a Razer Mamba TE. I have small hands and that makes buying mice more complicated for me. This mouse is mostly suitable for someone with small hands. I have better access to the 2 side buttons on this mouse than I do with the mamba. However, I still do have to strain to get to the clutch button on this mouse. It is doable but I have to slightly re position my grip. This is not ideal for fast paced shooters but it is not a deal breaker. Another thing to note is that this mouse does have razer chroma rgb on the logo and scroll wheel. When you are playing you only see the scroll wheel lights....if you are someone who stares at their mouse and plays. The point that I am really making is that there are other mice that have more RBG on them so if you are going for a more flashy look try the mamba te or others. the adjustable scroll wheel is a very nice touch. You can go from smooth to super bumpy and everything in between. One minor gripe is that it seems that the chord in mounted very low on the mouse. since it is braided it is a little stiff and that makes it drag on the mouse pad. You can hear and feel this. Not a deal breaker but something to note. If you are someone who uses a chord riser for their mouse you probably wont run into this. In summery, very good gaming mouse, fits small hands, not as flashy as some.

I think that buying a gaming mouse ultimately comes down to personal preferences concerning weight and ergonomics. That being said, this mouse has a few things that make it stand out. The build quality is excellent, typical for Razer products. It’s also pretty basic in design, without a bunch of superfluous trim, excessive led lighting, etc. Buttons are kept to a minimum; just the sensitivity stage up/down, mouse 4 and 5, and a dpi clutch. A profile swap button and mouse wheel resistance adjustment is moved to the bottom to reduce clutter on top. If you are into a clean look, this mouse is it. If you are looking for weights, lots of buttons for macros or on the fly customization, or adjustable ergos, this is not for you. The Basilisk also performs well, in case you care about something other than how it looks. The constant and unbearable tracking issues with Razer’s IR sensor was ultimately what pushed me to get a new mouse, and the Basilisk’s optical sensor has no issues. This is critical for me, because the less I have to deal with Razer’s Synapse software, the better. Did I mention the software is terrible? Because it objectively is. Hopefully Synapse 3 will be better when it’s out of beta.

    Great Mouse, Annoying Software

I love the mouse itself. It's incredibly comfortable & the thumb rest is a wonderful added touch; and the primary reason I chose this over other Razer mice. The sensitivity is great & has so many options for you to customize. The only reason I did not give this mouse a 5 stars is due to the less than "great" software that you install to program the mouse. I have a Razer keyboard & mouse, but they each use separate software programs. That in itself, isn't too bad. The keyboard software is great, but the mouse software is difficult to use & does not always keep the lighting effect preferences. I'll set it to just stay green (to match my keyboard lights) & then it'll change 5 minutes later & start scrolling through the different colors again. Just a small hiccup, but overall - I would recommend the mouse.

I'm not a hardcore PC gamer but I'm definitely becoming more and more, and this mouse feels awesome to my hand. Couple lights nothing crazy, decent weight to it, but not to much. Has 2 extra side buttons which I usually map to Crouch and Reload. You can change the drag on the wheel, which I love when using it to cycle through weapons/equipment on various games, helps to not accidentally skip over your secondary. Razer software can be used to change the lights and effects like to blink a different color when you press a button. Overall an awesome mouse, literally helped my gameplay improve.

Debating between this or the g502

I have owned the logitech g502 prior to purchasing the Razer Basilisk. The biggest difference for me was the size. If you are someone with larger hands, or like something more to hold, the basilisk might fit your hand a little better, which is my reasoning for switching over. They both have 3 side buttons, one being a sniper button, but can be assigned macros for other purposes. I give the advantage to this to the Razer Basilisk, as it gives you 3 different sizes of sniper buttons to use, fitting almost every style of grip. Overall great mouse.

Compared to the razer chroma, I like it a tad better. The chroma felt basic while the basilisk felt more intuitive and ergonomic. It feels like it was made for my palm. Side buttons are useful and adjustable based on needs. The only negative is the rubber part where the thumb lays tried to peel off. A dab of superglue has fixed this problem. Although the likelyhood of it being a longterm issue is non-evident. Worth giving it a shot if you want something that is slightly better than basic, but not over the top.

If you're like me you probably have a stack of keyboards and a drawer full of gaming mice acquired on the ever elusive hunt for that perfect one. I know that this mouse is just a mid range offering but man do I really love it. The clutch is in the perfect spot. Any button can be remapped to ones liking. This is one of those mice that I may buy a few more of just to have when I finally wear my current one out. It's nothing fancy, it's just one of those peripherals that feels just right for me.

Very, responsive. There are plenty of other mouses but this one is shaped very, well. The reason for 4 stars is that this mouse is on the larger side for larger hands. Those people with small to medium hands it takes a little bit getting used to. The way it is shaped is great but If you have smaller hands like myself it is a little harder to fully enjoy it. However, for the price it is a very good deal, very responsive, and multiple buttons to set to certain fixtures.

pros Rgb Speed Accuracy Cons A little to small up towards the front of the mouse my other fingers drag if I don’t stick them at the top of the mouse but that causes a weird grip I just don’t like I kinda wish they would put the same thing on the other side like how they have the thumb rest they should of added the same thing to the opposite side of the mouse so had had something to put my fingers on so they don’t slide around or get cramped up at the front end of the mouse But overall awesome mouse pretty solid for flicks

My favorite part of this mouse is the removable DPI clutch and the adjustable scroll wheel. It really lets you get dialed in for fast paced movements. It’s on the smaller side of the mice I tested before settling on the basilisk but it has a great hand feel nonetheless. It doesn’t have a ton of extra buttons so this wouldn’t be a great choice for games like WOW. Either way I think you will genuinely like this mouse if you play FPS games or want a smaller precision mouse.

I have used Razer products in the past and this one is a very sold mouse for Fps it is still on the heavy side but if you like a bit heavy mouse then this one is great for MMORPG and FPS games I still don't like razer software its very annoying but their quality in the mouses have been stepping up but if you like razer or your new to PC gaming then you can't go wrong here and the sniper button is very nice but I would still pick the M65 Elite over this one.

Definitely had some doubts going in, as I heard the 2015 Razer lineup was absolutely terrible. But I'm pleased to say that so far (been about a month) the Razer Basilisk has been amazing, and so far Synapse hasn't given me any issues whatsoever. The dpi clutch comes in a lot of use, especially if you use low sense and need to 180 really fast. My previous mouse was a 2012 Razer Naga which lasted me 6 long, faithful years of hard work.

Current software does not support my Blackwidow x keyboard (which is less than a year old). Older software will not support the mouse. Razer claims you can run 2 versions of their software. Which I tried. The mouse would turn itself on after the PC had shut down. My attempts to convey my problems to razer were met with the comment "we will forward the issue but can't guarantee it will be addressed.

I purchased this mouse because I was having problems with my older one which now turns out to be a different problem rather than the mouse. I really like the feel and the colored lighting. The only issue is that I have larger hands and in the heat of serious gaming one of the two right thumb buttons keeps getting pressed which causes unintended results. But that will be corrected by disabling the button. Other than that it's a great mouse for gaming.

This mouse is almost perfect for FPS games. The thumb shelf is nice; it keeps you from having to hold your thumb up on the side of the mouse. The clutch on the mouse is pretty useful as well, allowing you to shift your DPI quickly on press, and it reverts to the previous setting when released. I could see this mouse being small for anyone with medium to large hands, though.

The Basilisk is a wonderful mouse in form functionality, comfort, and performance. The adjustable resistance on the wheel and the customizable DPI allow you to switch from one project/game to another with ease. This coupled with the ability to preset multiple profile settings and utilize a clutch when needed makes this mouse a wonderful overall addition to any setup!

My son wanted a Windows-compatible mouse to play games on my computer. This mouse was recommended to us by someone at another electronics store (named after a fruit in the Garden of Eden). We easily found it, bought it, and hooked it up at home. It works wonderfully, and looks very cool. My son can plug it in anytime he wants to play games, and can unplug it when he's done. I highly recommend this mouse!!!!

I liked this mouse a lot for some games I had a high sensitivity in, but I noticed in lower sensitivity I wasnt moving the mouse up as easily as side to side with the grip it has which makes left to right very easy. This interupted my fludidty with it, and it definitely has some extra weight. I would try it out for a while before you decide if you like it
