I replaced a more traditional headset with this item and it was something that I have been looking for over the past few years.
FIrst the pros. The sound is very good both incoming and outgoing. I have had several comments about how much clearer the microphone is and I love that I can use one ear bud or two depending on the situation. The cord is a good length so you can move around a bit while still having enough slack for wire management.
Cons - While the set is quite comfortable, it can slip a little and need to be pushed back into place. The ear pieces are comfortable with the exception of wearing them with Oakley eye glasses (which I wear) though they do tend to be more comfortable over time. The microphone has great sound but if you try to drink anything you constantly have to move it.
Overall the 4 rating is for the Cons which are not any major issues. The sound quality is quite good for the speakers that it has but if you really want dolby sound go with a over the ear set. For communication these are great.
