Good for what it does!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start off, i 100% do not use full advantage of the decice. I am not a streamer whatsoever. I use this as a way to easily access different apps or web pages. And as a way to reduce volumes of different apps and tabs. Overall i do recommend it.

Good start
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great to see Razer get more into this market. Good start for them for sure. Still prefer elgato for the amount of things that you can do with it but for a fan it is a great product with good build quality.

Why Loupedeck Razer..WHYYYY
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Personally felt the software used with this was bad. Bought this and the Stream Deck cause I couldn't make up my mind at the time and found the Stream Deck software to just be more fluent than the one Razer uses. Honestly not worth the purchase unless you just REALLY want to have an all Razer build/setup. I really wanted the Razer Stream Controller to work out due to the looks and how it stay in place when applying pressure to it.

BEWARE! Uses Another Brand's Software
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this device to set up macros as a Dungeon Master so I can easily pull up tons of info quickly. So, of course, the only thing that doesn't work on this deck is macros. I knew things were going south when I had to download software for Loupedeck, not Razer, to control the deck. You can probably guess where this is going. I contacted Support and - surprise! Razer quickly passed the buck to Loupedeck. Lol, the rep even said he'd stay in the chat while I worked with a completely different company to make their device work. I said I'd return the deck and get one from a company that actually supports their product instead of passing the blame to a third party. What a joke of a company. Bottom line, do not buy. Software compatibility is a major issue and one they obviously have no intention of fixing. Customer service was useless as well. Bad company, crap product.

Nice hardware. Clunky Software.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a Twitch streamer, my Stream Deck is one of my most valuable resources. I really can’t imagine going back to a time where a lot of different actions I use all the time are only a single button press away. Not only that, but the information that can be presented on each button makes it easy to set up little heads up displays for certain things. The Razer Stream Controller X is very similar to the Stream Deck in both looks and functionality so I can’t imagine a review that won’t bring up the comparisons. This review won’t be very different from that. Setup was fairly simple because I already have other Razer devices so when I plugged in the Stream Controller X, the Synapse software loaded up right away and offered an update and then automatically installed the Loupedeck software. I remember the Stream Deck software from way back when it first came out so I’m kind of glad Razer didn’t choose to reinvent the wheel here and is relying on some software that has at least existed for a little while (not necessarily saying the software is good, but more mature software is always better than brand new stuff that’s missing a lot of features). This device is pretty late to the party and has a high bar to meet if it wants to compete against the Stream Deck so coming with some software that has been around for a bit at least brings them up to speed a lot quicker. The build quality of this is really nice. I’ll say I like it better than the Stream Deck I have (I have the original Mk.1 Deck right now). I know the Mk.2 Stream Deck base is a lot nicer than the cheap little folding stand that the Mk.1 came with but thie stand on the Stream Controller is heavy and nice and has that sticky without residue bottom that just plants it to your desk. You can move it but it takes some effort unsticking it from your desk. The actual keypad magnetically attaches to the base and has a removable USB-C cable. I like everything about how this is build. The Razer logo is subtle and black on the bottom. Doesn’t take up much space and doesn’t stand out. The buttons also feel much nicer than my Stream Deck. The travel time is a bit lower which makes them feel a lot less mushy than the Stream Deck. It feels like no matter where you press, you’ll probably activate the button while the Stream Deck can have some issues when pressing on the corners. It also helps a lot that the device is nicely stuck to your desk so you don’t really need to hold the device still when pressing buttons. Just reach and press. If I had to come up with a single bad thing about it, I suppose I could say that the stand isn’t adjustable. If that’s important to you, you’re SOL since this is at a single angle and that’s it. But it’s a good angle. And the actual keypad detaches from the base so you could always just make your own base if it really bothers you. So hardware-wise, I give Razer the advantage. Now for the software. One of the best parts of the Stream Deck is the software and the integration with various services. You can always just use an external numpad and assign hotkeys to things that way but having software that directly communicates with your other software with visual feedback on the button (for instance, being able to see if a device is muted because the button changes when you press it) is invaluable to me. The Stream Controller X uses the Loupedeck software which does appear to have most of the features you’ll find in Elgato’s software. There’s an SDK so users and other software developers can write extra plugins to do even more. The problem I have with it is that things feel a little bloated and clunky to me. The software looks pretty nice but silly things like not being able to move the Window for whatever reason and long delays between certain actions just make it cumbersome to use. You could probably design buttons that do a lot of what you want to do but it just isn’t very fun to work with. The next knock against the Loupedeck software vs Elgato’s Stream Deck software is the third party support. Loupedeck came after Stream Deck for sure but it never really caught on like the Stream Deck. Therefore, a lot of developers just don’t seem to bother with writing plugins for it. As of writing this review, there are 55 plugins in the Loupedeck marketplace. Most of these are very simplistic and don’t offer a ton in the way of customization that I’ve found. Like changing the default icon on something like the Twitch Viewer Count just means the button doesn’t function anymore because the plugin draws the text right onto the default button and changing it doesn’t appear to draw text anymore. The icon editor seems like it’s pretty nice on the surface but then you find things like not being able to make any additional modifications if you set the icon to an animated GIF (usually you can move the images around, but you can’t even add text to an animated GIF). It also appears that you get a single image and a single text element that you can move around. Silly things like that just don’t make me feel like I can customize everything like I can with my Stream Deck which I can make look exactly like I want to and function (more or less) exactly like I want to. I really wanted to like this software as it was something new and it looked pretty nice when I first launched it. But the more I used the software, the more I grew frustrated by it’s shortcoming. Stream Deck definitely maintains I huge advantage in software and third party support. This isn’t to say it’s a total bust. Given the feel for the buttons and the overall sturdiness when it’s stuck to my desk, I can see this being much more useful for controlling specific applications or as a hotkey board. I like the Stream Deck for pressing a button and having a thing or a bunch of things happen across variables services and applications. But I wouldn’t want to use it for editing videos or playing games just based on how the buttons feel and how the device just slides around the desk if I press a button too hard. On the other hand, I placed the Stream Controller X right next to my keyboard (with the really long and nice USB cable that was included) and I’ll be using it along with plugins for Premier Pro and Photoshop as well as things like Farming Simulator and whatever other games I think I could use a macro keypad for. So, while the Stream Controller X won’t replace my Stream Deck any time soon. I still do see the value in it. The main issues I have with it are with it’s software and third party support. Both of these things are resolvable over time with software updates and as more developers start writing more plugins. I’ll definitely start using this Stream Controller X as a more basic macro keypad for games and software that I feel can use it, but I’ll stick with my Stream Deck for controlling my Twitch stream.

Solid Stream controller
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Razer Stream Controller X is a nifty little stream deck that allows you to open apps, control volume settings and manage your twitch streams with quick access commands at the tip of your fingers. It comes with a nice 45 degree angle stand that really sticks to my desk, so I know it's not going anywhere, and the Stream Controller X is held in the stand with magnets. Or you can use it just flat on your desk. It has a nice long usb-c to usb-a cable. There's a little magnetized faceplate that I keep accidentally knocking off, and it surrounds the 15 backlit buttons. The buttons work pretty consistently no matter where on their face you press them. And everything runs through the Loupedeck software, which is where you can fully customize the Stream Controller X to fit your needs. You can add or remove app shortcuts, input macro commands, or download program profiles and plugins that allow you to access key shortcut or tools for the program you're using. For example, when using the Photoshop profile, the buttons on the Stream Controller are mapped to Photoshop tools so you can pick a paint brush, lasso, eraser and other tools. My primary reason for picking up this product is for this program functionality with for my photo editing apps like Adobe Photoshop and Affinity Designer, as well as having quick access buttons to my favorite apps. Learning to navigate the Loupedeck software to get my settings dialed in has taken a bit of time, but so far everything has worked just fine. I was able to link my Spotify account and then setup a whole page just for controlling my music, including having buttons for specific playlists I've created. Overall, if you're looking to get a stream deck device without all the extra bells and whistles, I think the Razer Stream Controller X is a pretty solid choice.

Super flexible keypad if you invest the setup time
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On the whole, this is a great keypad - and not just for those that stream game play (though it does certainly work for that) but for anyone that could use a bit of a productivity boost through easy access to specific applications, keyboard shortcuts and so on. It’s not the cheapest tool out there, but the flexibility is amazing and, if you’re willing to tinker with the software a bit, you can get quite a bit out of it. Basically, this is a fully programmable 15 key keypad where each key/button is a mini-screen that can display whatever you like and trigger a broad array of actions. Full stop. It’s well-built like other Razer products and the aesthetic will right in if you have other Razer black products like keyboards and/or mice. You can use the keypad laying on the desk or with the included stand (I’m using the stand and it makes for a very convenient angle if you want to put it behind your mouse/keyboard) and it connects to the computer using a USB-A to USB-C cable. I’ve only tried it with Windows so cannot say how it works with other operating systems (or if it does or not). You do need two pieces of software, the standard Razer Synapse application that all their peripherals use and a new application from a third party to configure the keys. This is where the magic occurs. Out of the box, there’s a “profile” for streaming - about three pages (you can set up the keypad to have different “pages” of keys and flip through them using the bottom left and bottom right keys as arrows/page turns) of keys that include basic streaming / gaming applications and common controls. But you can create numerous different profiles in the software and switch between them based on a number of triggers to change how the keypad works. For each key in each profile you have full control - you can map the keys to launch applications, to execute scripts (BAT files, VBS files, etc), to execute macro-like key combinations, to launch webpages and more. And you can also create custom images for each key or use stock icons/words. The flexibility is incredible though it does take a bit of fiddling and sometimes a bit of online searching for how you might accomplish something. But if you’re willing to do that (for example, looking up how to write a script to switch to a specific application), the keypad becomes SUPER powerful. I have it set up with some basic applications I use for work and then a whole bunch of macros and scripts so I can execute things that would normally take many key strokes with one button push, anywhere/anytime. And that’s powerful. And time saving. I love it! That said, I’m not sure I would recommend this for EVERYONE. It’s something like a specialized tool - if you have a need for it and you’re willing to learn how to use it/fiddle with it, you can get a LOT out of it. If you’re not willing to fiddle with it/put in the time and you’re NOT a streamer, then this won’t be of much use to you. As is, I love the productivity this has unlocked and so decidedly see this as a 5 star product!

Super useful, with a few minor glitches
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To get the bad out of the way first, I should mention that the software that runs this device has a few glitches. Sometimes, when installing an addon, it'll get stuck installing it forever until you force kill the program. Also, I noticed one time that it logged me out and reset my customizations for no apparent reason. That aside, I've had a pretty good experience using this thing. First off, it's not Razer's software (which I was a bit worried about since a lot of RGB software scales poorly on 4K). The software that powers this thing is from Loupedeck. You don't even have to have any of Razer's stuff installed to use it, so if were worried about having to install Razer Chroma when your system already uses another RGB platform you should be fine. As for the hardware quality? Pretty great. It's smooth, feels nice to the touch, doesn't have that cheap plastic feel. I like how it comes with a stand if you don't want it to lie flat. The icons on the display are pretty clear and easy to see, though you may have to scale them manually when creating custom shortcuts so they don't look weird. There's lots of plugins and shortcuts. With very little effort, I set up a screen to control OBS Studio and another screen to control various background programs. You can add keyboard shortcuts if the program you want to control doesn't have them. I didn't try them because my drawing tablet broke, but there's plugins for Photoshop and other creative programs as well so it's super useful even outside of a streaming context. I believe I also saw that the software says it works with Mac as well. Overall, I really like this thing. Not even just for making streaming and gaming easier, it's also a really nice general productivity tool. If you're a PC power user I'd definitely recommend this.

This has found a home on my desk
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying that I’m not a streamer. I’ve wanted a device like this for a while mainly because I work in a lot of different media creation programs and don’t want to memorize all the different sets of keyboard shortcuts (or change them all the be the same). I’ve gotta say, once I started playing around with this stream controller, it made me want to figure out more ways to use it - and that’s awesome! First off, it’s powered by Loupedeck. So the same shortcuts, icon packs, etc that you’d use on one of their controllers are usable here. I’ve found that by and large, everything I want to do from key commands to opening apps or webpages, to changing system settings, is possible with the Loupedeck software. I was honestly kind of impressed by the level of functionality present out of the box. Suffice it to say, If you can think of something, you can *most likely* do it with this. The real area where the Razer controller shines though is it’s build quality. The buttons feel nice; the plastic looks nice; the button’s displays are sufficiently high res; and the included stand is at just the right angle. Overall, the whole package is perfectly sized and shaped as far as I’m concerned. What I’m most impressed with however, is just how darn well the thing stays in place. I thought for sure that if I were to press the top row of buttons just a little too hard, the controller would tip over, but I’m pleased to report that I have to put an unreasonable amount of pressure on it to get it to move. Overall, I really can’t think of any reasons not to get this. If you’re in the market for a controller and this one fits your needs, I think you’ll likely be pretty darn happy with it. I sure am.

Efficient navigation and activation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Admittingly, I am a "icon hoarder." My desktop is filled with programs, files, folders, shortcuts, music, etc. This makes actually finding and using a program cumbersome, even when arranged by name/type. This controller is solving that issue day by day without having to do the painstaking task of cleaning my desktop up. Yes, I do streaming, but my real use is editing. From video to voiceovers, I have a multitude of programs I use to record, refine and master various projects. Instead of save and search, I just hit the button of the next program in the chain of the workflow. The app is easy to use and has a level of depth to usage. I still am practicing creating specific macros, but the basics of program startup is worth the cost alone. The interface is sharp and accents my desk nicely. The icons are bright and clean and easy to see in any lighting condition. Build is sturdy and has a quality heft to it. The buttons are responsive and function is instant. Also, if it isn't clear in any demos, you can make several pages, each with a different purpose. One for program initiation, another page for functionality, etc. Endless combinations if you put the time in. The only downside, and a very minor one, is the stand. It connects just fine and looks great, but for my desk, it isn't sturdy enough for the button press. If I press a button, it slides. Maybe adding some gripper foam underneath will solve it, but for now, when I use the stand, I have to support it with my free hand when I need to press a button. Not major, just a minor nuisance. Anyways, great product and I am enjoying the efficiency it provides!

Great hardware with a learning curve
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the keypad offers great functionality not only for streamers but also for anyone seeking easy access to specific applications and keyboard shortcuts. The keypad features 15 fully programmable keys, each with a mini-screen that can display customizable content and trigger a wide range of actions. It boasts rock solid construction feeling extremely planted on your desk. You can use it lying flat on the desk or with the included stand, which provides a convenient angle when placed behind your keyboard. The combination of the stand and the option to choose a specialized icon for each key makes button selection very quick and easy. You'll need two pieces of software, Razer Synapse and Loupedeck to manage and customize the keypad. There is a preconfigured "streaming" profile allowing for basic streaming and gaming application controls as well as the option to completely customize your own commands. My only disappointment was it's integration with Adobe's suite. At time of writing it is a bit clunky, likely due to the profile being deigned for different hardware, but I feel this could be improved with software updates as hardware adoption becomes more wide-spread. If you're willing to put in the effort this keypad is an incredibly powerful tool. I have personally set mine up for use with productivity applications. Being able to execute complex actions or run macros and scripts with a single button press, is truly a time saver. I'm not sure this keypad is for everyone, but if you are willing to learn how to use and customize it, the Stream Controller X is extremely useful.

Worthy Competition
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not to mention any names, but we all know who Razer is going after with this product. And although this may not be a dog eat cat market yet, this Razer Stream Controller is definitely making his presences known in the food chain. First, for those of you that don't know, these products are essentially programmable macros that you use to tell your computer or smart equipment what to do. For streamers and content creators, this is especially helpful as while live on the internet you can quickly change scenes (or screens) with the single push of a button. It can also be used like a soundboard, load particular programs, etc. So using one of these allows you to focus more on your content and audience than the background work needed to make your stream go flawlessly. When it comes to the hardware, Razer got this one right. Not just right, but we are talking 4.0 walking across the graduation stage with honors right. The box is solid, the perfect side, and the mounting stand/methods is definitely a feature that competitors need to take note of. The custom button images are amazing, especially since community content can be utilized to really set your buttons apart. However, I would wish that there was a consistent file format on the companion program for this Stream Controller. Also, I was not able to find a native discord integration for this deck. If I had to pick one thing I would really like Razer to look into with this product would be auto-login for the programs that are pinned to the buttons on this controller. Although this controller works to open the program flawlessly, each and every program required a login upon opening. If opened manually, the auto-login feature works as intended. However going through the Razer Stream Controller, the OBS and other programs would require manual login. Overall, great product, Razer! You have made life easier!

Great controller for everyone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am starting to get into the world of streaming, and I have friends who use other devices like this for auxiliary control while in full screen applications. And I am not disappointed. Easy to use out of the box, the stream controller X comes with a USB C cable, stand and the control unit. The heavy lifting is done in the setup and configuration phase, but even then the Razer Synapse software makes that easy. No crazy interfaces, no complex command lines (minus macros) You can set up multiple pages, but switching them takes up space: you have fifteen programmable buttons (Three more than its' predecessor, but missing any dials and the physical page buttons are deleted.) It supports multi-link macros – one key executes multiple commands at once or in sequence. If you're looking to get into streaming and want a good sized controller with amazing programmable abilities, this is certainly the way to go! Took a star away because while it seems solid, I'd be afraid to take it with me without a case or some sort of protection.

I love it!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always wanted to get into streaming myself playing video games, but it has always seemed far too complicated to make a fun and interactive channel. The professionals make it look so easy, right? Enter the Razer Stream Controller X, which completely changes the game. With 15 readable switchblade buttons, tasks are easier than ever to control while still trying to game. The icons on each button are intuitive as to what they mean, which is honestly very helpful. I am able, at a quick glance, to make my controller choice while continuing to play. Multi-link macros make the automation process MUCH quicker and streamlined. One of my favorite features is the plug-and-play convenience; no more messing around with messy software installations and non-compatible streaming software, as it works with the most common streaming programs. The magnetic stand with anti-slip padding is also a huge bonus, as it puts the controller at a comfortable angle to be used. All-in-all, it has made my streaming much more stream-lined, pun intended. I feel I am much more efficient with this controller's help.
