This headset delivers for the price, the sound quality is over the top, and they are very hard to brake. I have done drop tests from the desk, as well as from the counter in the kitchen to simulate harder floors. The headset does not brake easily. The sound quality is breath taking, I have used other products with "Dolby 7.1" plastered on the box, but not once have any of them taken my breath away. Good with music, made for gaming. I tested it with Skyrim, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, and Arma 2's Day Z mod. I could hear dragons from a mountain over, bullets whirring past my head, and the sounds of survivors two rooms away. By far the best audio I have ever experienced. For communication in-game and or Skype/etc., the microphone has it's own volume control, allowing you to come through crystal clear on the battlefield, and no pesky options to boost your voice on third party applications. The headset is one size fits all, the headset can become tiresome to wear after about 7 hours. Not that i know many people who would wear it for 7 hours. If you're a desktop gamer, or just an entertainment enthusiast then these are a definite buy.

I have owned many various types of headsets over the years for both work and gaming. By day I work from home and live online with Skype and GoToMeeting, so I needed a good set of headphones I could use with both. Also, while working, I wanted to listen to music when not on conference or customer calls. Then at night when all is done and its time to pick up my favorite shooter and play online, I wanted a set that could give me clarity and pin point accuracy in the sound field positioning. I have owned Medusa’s, PX5’s, other Razer headphones, and Sennheiser’s, to date nothing has worked over all for all the things I wanted like these Tiamat’s have. In response to USB noise, yeah it’s a grounding issue and nothing ANY headphone mfg that uses a USB to power their headphones is going to be able to fix for you. Find another USB slot, or consider a powered usb hub, that always fixed my hiss/hum issues. In response to the Mic issues – there are no issues when you get past the “Operator” issue. I found if the mic was not fully extended or pulled up to the final position, then it was low or muted sound and no one could hear me well. Not in Ventrillo, Skype, or GoToMeeting. This means you must extend it fully and bring it up to its final position before it works properly. I was able to get clear noise free audio once I figured out how to use these. Once you turn off Mic Boost, the hiss goes away as well. I had to come up with some “Y” cable solutions and adapters to get my headphones connected because of the sound card I am using (HT | Omega Claro w/XT). This is a true 7.1 analog sound card with 192kz sound and does not come with the Realtek/Creative driver and performance issues. So pairing it with these headphones was like Peanut Butter and Jelly – they are perfect together for sound quality. Playing MW3 online I almost feel like its cheating with these headphones. I have vision like a bat (6000x1080 resolution on three 24” monitors also help) with the sound positioning of these headphones. Razer has always made great headphones IMO and they did well with this set. If you need a good quality PC headset and can fork over the $179 for these babies – get them! You will be glad you did. Keep in mind when reading the reviews where it can be user error versus hardware issues, unfortunately not everyone are technical savants and prefer to blame hardware over user errors.

I can't say enough good things about this headset. It's comfortable enough to wear for hours. The 7.1 surround is amazing. Music is absolutely incredible through them. It's nice having the control for the headset on the desk, and just being able to hit a button and switch from speakers to headset. If you don't have have a 7.1 audio controller, look elsewhere. If you're using the discreet 7.1 chipset on the motherboard, consider upgrading to a card if you get this headset. They are great with onboard 7.1, but phenomenal when coupled with a good 7.1 sound card.

I recently built a new computer with a High end ROG Asus Xonar Phoebus sound card, so I decided to pick up a good headset to take advantage of it. The Razer Tiamat is a quality headset, but there are some things to consider before you jump into the pool as it were. First, this headset uses a seemingly newer popular headband design. I find it a bit awkward. This headband consists of the outer Plastic band that is not adjustable(which allows the band to keep a snug fit with the ear cups), and the inner band that has the foam bands, and stretches to fit. Now at first it may feel very comfortable, but if you have a larger head, and/or use this headset for long periods of time. You may notice increasing pain, not only in your ears, but inside your head around your ears(caused by the outer plastic band forcing the ear cups to apply too much pressure). So be wary of that possibility, it is what led me to return my set. It sounded great, but I was actually getting headaches from wearing it for only a couple hours at a time. Next up the cord itself is fairly long, however the cord length from the audio controller to the headset is too short in my opinion. I had pulled the controller off my desk more than once, just trying to turn 90 degrees in my chair. I can't say much about the microphone, I didn't get to do extensive testing with it, the times I did, the people I talked to said I sounded just fine. Although I am not a fan of the pull out design of the mic, I was afraid I was going to break it each time I used it. That all being said there are a lot of good things about this headset. They do sound good, maybe not as good as some very high quality single driver headphones using virtual surround sound, but they still do a good job, and they come with a variety of options. Such as those presented with the audio controller, like being able to set up a set of speakers to run through them, and switching over to them at the push of a button. You can adjust the volume of the speakers in the headset individually, as well as the microphone via the controller. The controller itself is stylish, which you come to expect with razer products. All in all, I wish I could have found a solution to the constrictor python that is a headband with this set, as I really did like them. Unfortunately I couldn't and ended up having to return them. That doesn't mean you will have that issue though.

I will more than likely update this as soon as I get my 2nd pair. My origianl pair had a DOA mic which lets me know the durabilty of the mic is going to be bad. First I am not an audiophile, and I do not tune my sounds with an EQ. I did however used this headest with an ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 sound card. The sound produced was amazing, the games came to live with the 7.1 sound. This is not virtual but actual 7.1, I have a Logitech G35 and the virtual surround it produces lacks compared to the 7.1 produced by the headset. On the Mic side, I can't be a judge on its ound quality. My first pair came DOA. Now, I don't care what I sound when I talk on Ventrilo as that is the only time I will be using the mic. I will not be making professional videos for YouTube or anything else. Just plain fun.

I've been waiting for these to be released since 2011 when they were announced and the wait was well worth it. They're simple to set up and sound amazing. My only complaint is that they should have come with a corded AC adapter since so many people will get USB interference since these are powered by USB. I spent a few extra dollars on a USB extension cable and a USB outlet charger to fix the interference.

iv been waiting for this headset since it was announced. was so excited when i bought it. but just to be let down by the usb connection making alot of interference noise (something to do with grounding.) easy to fix with a usb extension but u still hear the interference noise but not as loud. the sound is pure awesomeness no doubts about it 7.1 srs was great when watching movies or games with 7.1 capabilities. but for the price imo not worth it there are some better cheaper alternatives. also the mic is very quite some ppl cant even hear you when u talk thru it. as for me the mic didn't even work at all. all in all if you using it for just the sound quality its awesome but after a hour or so your ears hurt wish it would cover your whole ear like the bose headphones then it would be even greater

The sound quality of the speakers are amazing, but I bought a headset for gaming. I am unable to communicate via the mic because it is the cheapest most worthless piece of **** mic I have ever owned. I have to turn off every fan, TV, and anything else that makes noise because the mic has no form of noise canceling. Even with everything turned off the mic still sounds horrible. This defies the whole point of purchasing a gaming headset, and therefore makes the headset completely worthless for the promoted application. I would not refer this overpriced piece of **** to anyone.
