I purchased this insert to replace the gel flame insert in my fireplace. Although I liked having a real, crackling fire, the cans of gel were quite expensive and made an unpleasant smell when they were almost finished burning. I was looking for an electric insert with heat and the fire ambience. After doing hours of research, I found this at Best Buy for the best price. The insert was better than I anticipated. Not only does it have the heater I was looking for, it also has a nice feature where the logs "breathe" while burning, meaning the flame and ambers grow brighter and dimmer. While it doesn't exactly resemble a burning fire, it does provide a mesmerizing effect. Also, when you turn the fireplace off, the ambers don't immediately turn off, they fade out. Not too realistic, but a very interesting effect. I only have 2 things that would make this insert better. 1. The heater vent is on the top, it should be on the bottom. 2. The fan is a bit noisy, but is easily drowned out by the TV. I would also like to have more control over the temperature as it jumps from 71 to 75 degrees. 73 degrees would be ideal, but you can't program that. All in all, I'm extremely happy with this purchase. And buying it from Best Buy and picking it up myself saved me the shipping charges and took no longer than if I would have bought this from another site. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the insert for the price I paid, despite some minor flaws, and Best Buy is awesome to work with ordering, paying for, and picking up my order. Plus I get the bonus points! A win/win.

Wish it would heat up better and have a stronger air blower.
