Does not work properly, try to make this work with Logitech Harmony Ultimate and had a hard time to make any component behind a wood unit recognize any command, not even a 3 feet away from the transmitter. I will not recommend it, very disappointed..

I followed the instructions exactly over and over again. I really wanted this thing to work, but it just didn't. Waste of time and money. I returned it to the store for a refund. Thumbs Down this time. However, Thumbs up to Best Buy for a no-hassle return.

This device is poor at best. It does not pickup buttons hit on the remote most of the time. It frequently changes channels randomly, usually at the worst times. Unfortunately it's the only device in the store in the price range.

I ended up returning the product. It just did not work. The geek squad technician couldn't get it to work either and recommended that i return it as it may be faulty.

Tech didn't know how to solve my remote problem so think I got a get me out of here solution! Just sell them a line that this will work so I can leave

This item was installed properly on my system and did not function anywhere near the way anticipated or described by the sales person at Best Buy.

My basement tv is directly below the dvr I wanted to control. I had to place the transmitter high up near the ceiling, to within 5 feet of the receiver. It works fine. I also tried it on the first floor from the bedroom to the dvr. It's about 60 feet down the hall and slightly around a corner and it worked fine. Also, I did not need to us the extender that comes with it. Just placed it in front of the dvr and it worked. It beats paying for another receiver for the basement tv.

I’ve had these for about three weeks. I wall mounted my TV and moved all the components to a closet behind the wall that the TV is mounted on and purchased these to be my IR repeater. They seemed to start working almost instantly (my girlfriend thought that the remote’s signals just started going through the wall) than the signals seemed to stop being repeated and I became rather unhappy. After reading the posts were some reviewers were able to get the products to work I decided to move the transmitter to the second story of my condo and then suddenly the remote was able to control my TV better than when it was in the same room. I felt a little silly that I didn’t realize that the units stopped working when I raised the antennas to their max height and then started working again when I moved them farther apart. I have since lowered both antennas to their minimum height and have not had a problem since. I would think that this product would have significantly less returns if they updated their documentation giving guidance on how far to extend the antenna based on distance between the receiving and transmitting units.

The unit works as promised, and allows me to keep my cabinet doors shut where my cable box and DVD player are located (as I have flat panel TV mounted on wall above fireplace). The unit is very directional oriented and works best when you are directly in front of the receiver. It is somewhat tricky to use if you are sitting off to the side at an angle, which requires you to move the remote around to get the unit to operate. However, overall i would recommend this unit.

I was prepared to spend more to get a solution to control my AV/surround sound receiver located on the other side of the wall. So, pretty good solution for the money spent in my mind. Only had this installed for about a month and had one experience where it did not work. Not sure what the issue was but powered down both the transmitter and receiver and it bounced back okay. Overall, this unit does what I want it to do.

I live in a 2 story house where my cable reciever is downstairs a bit of distance from my bedroom upstairs. After taking out the gold mesh as previosuly stated on some other reviews it worked perfectly. I'm very satisfied with it and would recommend it to anyone but would mention the modification you have to do it as well.

i have a dvr from dish network & the second tv is in another room & was having trouble with the remote changing the channels if you didn't hold it just in the right spot.after placing the Ir extender down by the dvr antenna works just like you are right at the dvr. no more fussing & cussing the remote.

Took a little experimentation to get it to work correctly but once I figured it out it has been working flawlessly for a few weeks. I actually bought it for a friend and I'm glad it works.

I had read the previous review about the modification of opening up the transmitter and removing the gold mesh. I did this and it works perfectly now. One trick I learned is that to open it you have to cut the rubber pad on the bottom. The trick is to take a knife and cut a slit in the rubber pad along the line of the opening. This way you don't have to remove the rubber pad to get it to open. Once open, I carefully removed the gold mesh and snapped the transmitter back together. Works great now. It's a shame you have to do this, but I didn't see anything else in the store that does the job of this thing.

It was the cheapest range extender that I found. It was easy to set up and it works great.

I have black mesh over my center speaker and I placed the transmitter behind the black mesh. The transmitter picks up the IR signal and sends it 35 feet through 2 walls to my AV closet. The receiver blasts my entire closet without having to use the diodes. Install time took less than 10 minutes. Range of my remote to IR transmitter is about 20 feet so it works fine from the couch but not from the kitchen across my den. Happy with the results and price.
