Red Faction Guerrilla is a game that takes place on Mars. You take the role of Mason, a man who seeks revenge for the death of his brother. The storyline is a little bland and the characters are cliche. This is not a game you should play for the story. RFG is a game you play for how fun it is to be able to break anything in the game (except for the ground on Mars). If you get this game I HIGHLY recommend playing the online multiplayer mode. Playing online is a great twist to the kind of multiplayer action you're used to.
The worst part of the game is that you'd find yourself not caring to much for the environment in single player. After a while, the buildings look the same. That said, being able to destroy whatever you want is a load of fun!

"if you want a sandbox game to destroy everything this is the game for you. use your sledgehammer to knock down support columns to bring a building down, or use bombs to take out the supports, and if that gets old, just drive through the place in a vehicle and call it done.
everything in the game can be destroyed. the physics are good and every building falls differently which keeps it awe inspiring. the story is ok but isnt grade A and you can read about it in the description so i wont get into it. this game is about destruction. once you destroy buildings, walls, vehicles, people you collect items to salvage to use to purchase new upgrades which is cool. the graphics are great and the landscape is your playground of destruction, go bring down some buildings already

The Red Faction title was such an amazing title and I ranked it one of the best titles for ps2. Although, this one just hit that bar for me... It was an alright game... Story line got kind of old after a while and I found myself doing the same thing over and over and over again...
Me and my brother used to play Red Faction 2 nonstop on multiplayer with bots and it was SOO fun... I think they put a little bit too much focus in destroying virtually everything and not as much on the actual storyline and gameplay.
I still would recommend this game though... Even with the repetitiveness it is something completely different than any other game out there and brings something new to the table for the first week or so..

This was first foray into shooters since Goldeneye and I was not disappointed! Set in futuristic Mars, RFG delivers on all aspects of gameplay, from story to weapons and replay value, this game is it! I especially enjoyed the backpacks in multiplayer; it's a lot of fun to Rhino someone and give them the business end of the WarHammer! For all trophy hunters this Platinum is an 8 out of 10 as the online XP is hard to attain and it took me about 2 months of casual online play to get the required items done. I also did it with no boosting, all skill. Trophy difficulty aside, a great game that is well done and successfully brought me back to shooters!

This games moves me in a good way. Can't believe the games seem to keep getting better and better. With each time I play this game I get further and further. They pretty much covered everything on this game. We have explosions, action, acts and graphics beyond me. The concept of this game is different. Different is good because it sets itself apart from the other game. Just play this game one time and you will understand. The weapons, the kill etc...I keep going but just try it out!

I must preface this by saying I love the first two games. I played the first one probably three times through. However, this one is completely understandable on its own. The story is pretty simple to understand and its the same basic Red Faction idea. People were promised a future on Mars where they could start over, but when they get there they become oppressed by the governmental agencies. Its your job to lead the revolution.
I first played the downloadable demo of this game on PSN, which was not too impressive. I held off for a little bit to see the ratings of this game on IGN.COM and saw that it got a respectable review. I am a big fan of third person shooters, so I gave this one a shot. I am so glad I did. The demo does not do this game justice because it does not demonstrate the pure awesomeness of taking down a huge tower or building with the power of a hammer or "fireworks" as I like to call them. In the first mission of the game you take down a building and tall tower, and by take down I mean level. Its especially funny when you are in the building as it comes crashing down! Its an adult version of boom blox (for wii) on the planet of mars! Just a fun game. The missions are not repetative and suck you in. The only problem I have is when you go into an enemy area and start a fight by taking down one of their buildings you become swamped from all sides with enemies. At points it gets ridiculous, a 20 minute skirmish may be realistic, but if you die, you have to start all over with the mission. Get it right the first time. However, do not let that stop you from purchasing this game. If you like third person shooters, such as the Max Payne series, InFamous, or even the GTA series, then this is unquestionably a game you should add to the collection! Props to THQ!

I was up until 6AM playing this last night. Need I say more? It's a fun game with great missions. You basically destroy stuff all day with a hammer and explosives. I do not regret playing this at all. The sound is also great in the game. I like all the red faction games and this one is no exception.

If you liked the first Red Faction for PS2, please find your fun elsewhere. I was a great fan of RF, and not so much for its lackluster sequel. This seems to me like a bad Gears of War clone, cover system is hit or miss, aiming is funky, or squirrely if you will. The enviromental destruction is cool, but it really brings nothing unique to the table for me. I would say give the demo on PSM a shot. I did, and got a chance to play the nearly completed build and was highly unimpressed, became more frustrated than anything else. The graphics are muddy, the sound on a 5.1 setup frustrates due to hearing an enemy in one direction and turning to find nothing there but bullets pecking at your spine. If you love this game, get it, but dont hold your expectations too high.

One Of The Best Games Out There!

Thie is a GREAT game! One of my all-time fave PS3 games! There is a destruction mode that you can play (one at a time) on the same system where you destroy an area then your friends have there turns. Then there's the Online modes, blow up any and every building you see with your friends. Then there's a huge world in one player story mode. Take out swarms of different types of enemies, tanks, ships, cars, etc. Plus you can upgrade your weapons with the scrap-metal you pick up. There are a huge assortment of weapons too; bombs that you can toss and stick to whatever, and whoever, your want to. Plus arc-blasters, shotguns, personal mines, rocket launchers, acid guns; and there's a huge assortment of jetpacks that allow you to either flying, boost forward(taking out anything in your way), boost upward(similar to other one) and lots more!
This game is sick and is a MUST HAVE for ALL Gamers!

After two days of playing this game, I can say that this is an addictive game with excellent graphics. The storyline is interesting and game play keeps you captivated. If an object is man made then you can destroy it. I have not seen one building, car, bridge, tanker, etc that I can not destroy.
The only drawback I see with this game is the squirly aiming and slow turns, when you are shooting or fighting melee. The aiming doesn't come into play while destroying buildings, but you do notice it when fighting enemies. When trying to perform a 180 when surrounded, it never seems like it's fast enough. This may be adjustible in options, but I have not located it yet.
I would recommend purchasing this game and have refered two friends who both purchased it and enjoy it also. I am interested to see what online play has to offer, but have not tried it at this time.

I downloaded the playable demo yesterday and I can honestly say that I was VERY impressed! Just like the earlier Red Faction for the PS2 you can tear up the buildings, cars.....EVERYTHING! This is something that most people want to do while playing but dont have the opertunity to. The demo is great and I will be purchasing this on the 2nd when it is released!!!

The gameplay can get somewhat boring since the missions are pretty similar but tend to get more difficult...a little to difficult. Overall, the destruction of the game is great and if you don't have proper tv and cables to see the capacity of the graphics this game has then your missing out.

When I got this game I was hoping it had the same multi-player as Red Faction 2, but I guess I was wrong. Then after playing more of the campaign I got hocked on it. It's a lot better than before, now you can roam around a large map and there is some much activities to do so you can't get bored.

A definite buy. Different from the old Factions better graphics, cool guns not as good as Faction 2, and straight up war. Not one of those games where you get hooked for 4 or 5 hours but a couple good matches is fun enough.
