I loved the movie, especially being a DC/Justice League fan ever since I was a kid growing up!

This movie is really a treat. I expected to hate it, being a huge fan of the original comics - DC's first attempt at this, "Superman: Doomsday" was pretty weak overall, and DC announced the current 2 animated movies as being a faithful interpretation but then started announcing changes.. so I was expecting to be disappointed. Not at all, surprisingly! The story is well-crafted, hits the major points well, and even the changes and shake-ups are well-done and don't take you out of what's happening. On the packaging, this Best Buy exclusive was masterful. A fully restored version of the original "Death of Superman" comic storyline is included, as well as a reprint of the "Newstime" magazine that came out in 1992 after Superman #75 (the comic where he died), which is the first time that's been reprinted, to my knowledge. I'd love to see more done like this. All-in-all, it's a great set, and I highly recommend it - even for big fans of the original Superman comics like me!

The movie was great. The animation and fast paced good storyline is becoming the norm of DC’s animated movies. The packaging for this movie is where I have an issue. On one hand I like the full size, hardcover “Death of Superman” graphic novel. Good read and a welcomed additon to any graphic novel collection, and the price for this with the movie was a great value. The downside that arises is that the book serves as the jewel case for the Blu-Ray/DVD which makes adding it to one’s collection difficult. I would have preferred in the end the way Best Buy typically handles Blu-Ray/Book combos, which is a miniaturized version of the book packaged with the Blu-Ray/DVD, that way I get the movie to display and the comic to add my collection. Overall though I would suggest that if you wish to add the graphic novel to your collection and like the idea of the book being the jewel case then get this, but if you just want the movie get the movie.

I love these DC direct-to-video movies. They adhere closer to the comics and carry the central themes of the DC universe better than the rather lackluster DC CU. Reign of the Supermen is the latest of these animated films and picks up where the Death of Superman animated movie leaves off. While RotS is a sequel, you don't have to see the DoS to enjoy it. Superman is dead and there is a vacuum to fill those big red boots. Viewers will be treated to onscreen presentations of Steel and Superboy -- I love to see more obscure comic book characters come to life! My only complaint about the animated films (and the DC CU as well) is that some of the fight scenes are drawn out too long. Your heart aches for all the property damage long after you stop caring about who is getting pounded into the pavement. This is a pacing problem that most current DC properties have. If you can ignore the extra long fight scenes, the DC animated films are an excellent entertainment choice for the comic book nerd and the super hero fan who wants to learn more about the DC universe alike. Oh, and be aware... these movies are NOT FOR YOUNG KIDS.

The follow up to last year’s Death of Superman, Reign of the Supermen continues the adaptation of the famous comic book arc that DC Comics released in 1993-94. Reign of the Supermen is a great sequel that picks up right where the last movie left off, sporting great animation and some pretty epic action sequences. They, of course, have to change some elements from the Comics, but for the most part, this is an extremely loyal adaptation with great character designs, amazing color, and a fantastic score. It’s definitely on of the best animated movies DC has produced recently and by far the best animated Superman movie to date in my opinion. I would say if you’re a DC Comics fan or a fan of animation, this is definitely worth picking up along with Death of Superman if you don’t own that already.

This is basically part two and the ending for The Death Of Superman. Although it was rereleased as a feature length film extending to 4 hours, it was originally meant to be two separate films. There is also a tongue in cheek reference by The Daily Bugle's Editor in Chief, when someone mentions the title "Reign Of The Supermen" he flat out says, "Run it! I don't like it but we'll change it later!" So when the two part movie became one long film the title changed with it as well but thats a separate review for another time. The Blu-ray doesn't disappoint and the voice acting is as expected, awesome. The current run of DC Animated films has been some of the best animation and writing and its a wonder that the DCEU doesn't follow suit.

When I saw this bundle at Best Buy I couldn't resist buying it! I always loved the classic Death Of Superman comic book but I sadly never owned a hard physical copy of it. Glad I was able to buy this with the new Reign Of The Supermen movie. The movie was outstanding! DC is really killing it with their animated movies, I can't get enough of them. They're fantastic. My one gripe with this set is the movie disks are inside a little flap inside the book itself. I'm a bit of a collector so it was a shame not having a physical case for the movie. Other than that I highly recommend this set! Read the book and then witness the sequel in movie form of this classic Superman story!

I actually wrote a review on this on the DC website. If you are expecting an excellent follow up to the "Death Of Superman" film... you might be disappointed. Now before the "fanboys" get upset, you have to look at this movie on how it stands on it's own merits. Whether you read the "Superman" comics or not... there are some truths to the DC Universe and the characters within (which, until now, only DC Live Action films seem to ignore). There are scenes where the Justice League is "just there... doing nothing" while the "Supermen" run amok. The first film answered the question of where was the REAL Justice League when Supes fought Doomsday. And it was superbly done. This film... the league should have just called in sick. *SADLY* *Spoiler* 6 months have past since Superman's death and here are the Supermen. No real attempts to give you background and motivations... no solid character building... except for maybe Steel. Lois "figures out" who the Supermen are while "The World's Greatest Detective" is just Window Dressing in this film... ludicrous. Remember, this is the "Super Reporter" that had NO CLUE Clark (whom she was seriously dating) was Superman UNTIL he TOLD HER in the first film...he did have some amazing "secret keeping" glasses to be sure. lol. The antagonist, once revealed, falls back to the classic... "I blame Superman for EVERYTHING" even when revealed that he is but a puppet for another. And you never care about "why he blames Superman" even in the abysmal "reason" reveal later... the best villains are the ones where there is some "redeeming qualities"... he has none. This film did veer from the comic in choice of Bad Guys, however, if it had been told better I doubt any fanboy would have noticed/ complained. Honestly, this was not a BAD film... it just wasn't a GREAT film like "Death Of Superman" was. They literally condensed "Reign Of The Supermen" and "Return of Superman" into ONE FILM when they should have explored the Supermen in this one with conflicts with the Justice League and TEASED Superman's return af the end for a THIRD FILM.

I bought this to add to a marvel collection and Im not really into non live action cartoon movies, but I figured since I bought it I would check it out, it was a good movie and reminded me of 80's saturday cartoons. The book however has a Jcard and the glue from the card lifted some of the art from the cover, brought it back and replaced to find the same thing so if you are serious collector like me I would advise to never open or if you plan to, do it at the store because I can see that being a problem.

Reign of the Supermen is a retelling of the 1990s story arc of The Death of Superman. Superman dies after battling an alien/ construct called "Doomsday"..and other heroes tries to step in to fill Superman's void. This is a nice little movie that surprisingly gives equal time to all of the Supermen...we get to know their motivations and limitations of being the new Superman. Liked the movie and this was a nice twist...I hope they get back to making more Justice League material....

THIS MOVIE TAKES UP AFTER THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN DVD. IT IS AN INTERESTING TAKE ON THE STORY. I AM NOT A DC COMICS BUYER. I AM MAINLY MARVEL, BUT I LIKE THE DC MOVIES AND ANIMATED MOVIES. THIS IS A NICE CHANGE OF PACE. ANY WAY THE STORY IS PRETTY GOOD AND THE ACTION IS TOP NOTCH. I STARTED WITH THE ANIMATED SERIES OF BATMAN/SUPERMAN/JUSTICE LEAGUE. NOW THIS NOW SERIES OF MOVIES SHOWS A DIFFERENT VIEWPOINT FROM THE CARTOON SERIES FROM CARTOON NETWORK. THESE ARE A WORTHWHILE ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION.

I read this series back in the 90's and even though I was disappointed with the original animation of Superman Doomsday I took a leap of faith with Death of Superman which left a good impression. This film also left a good satisfying impression , given how it was adapted I got to say it worth checking out. I give this an A- , only a few details were missing from the saga that would have made it a greater adaption but I'm impressed how well made it was.

Darkside is back to raise hell on Earth. He killed a Shuttle full of Astronauts except one and brainwashed him. He blames it all on Superman ... This movie kicks butt, Superman is "Dead' in the beginning and there turns out to be 5 or so Supermen. Luther even genetically enhanced and made in a test tube a Superman with the attributes of Lex's DNA as well. (He is about 17 or so, and is cocky) A must have for any DC Fan!

The Reign of Superman came with a graphic novel and the animated movie. Its been a while since the death of Superman. Four super-heroes arrive in Metropolis battling to be the reincarnation of Superman. The Eradicator, Superboy, Steel and Cyborg Superman. The novel is about when Doomsday emerged, fought the Justice League and killed Superman. Great story and graphics. I will make this package part of my collection.

DC Animated movies have always slayed the game. This movie is no different. It's a continuation of Death of Superman (which I also highly recommend) and it brings in other amazing characters from the Superman mythos. The movie itself is very fun and a better interpretation of the Death of Superman story arc than the Superman Doomsday movie (which wasnt so bad, but this one really nails it as an adaptation.).

I first read the death of Superman when I was a kid. This set is amazing. It was and I think is still the highest selling graphic DC novel. It includes the death of Superman graphic novel with the reign of supermen DVD/Bluray. The graphic novel is all in color and has a cool daily planet news articles in the back. This a must-have item for any Superman collector/fan.

I guess DC is better than Marvel with this type of entertainment because their team has been together for years and they use a better" common sense "in storytelling, with the live action movies they always make changes in most cases is not for the better. If its not broke don't fix it, this is what their Animation team understands and why they do such excellent work.

Those who read The DEATH of Superman when it first came out were Haunted and shocked by the Demise of The Man Of Steel. Only BATMAN'S BACK-BREAKING at the hands of Bane in KNIGHTFALL rivals Doomsday's killing of the SUPER HERO who couldn't be beaten. The REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN defined the Eulogy of SUPERMAN's wake. A COLLECTOR's MUST HAVE!
