I remember playing the original for the PlayStation with the old tank controls trying different run-throughs to get the full story or extras.
This pays homage to the original (excluding the tank controls) but adds on a lot of new content such as new areas, puzzles and even tougher enemies.
This game will make you pay attention to your inventory on what you need and what you do not at the moment. This will also help you to think and strategize as bullets no matter what level are scarce. The enemies are bullet sponges (yes even headshots will not keep them down for long) so you will have to learn how to shoot at their extremities and keep it moving.
Have I mentioned there's new areas and puzzles? Therefore, for my veterans out there you cannot rely on what you remembered when you first play this game 22 years ago. It's a whole different ball game.
I'm having a great time playing it. The teenager enemy from 22 years ago is back on pins and needles.
I'm going to put on the old school music to bring back that nostalgic ambiance.
The only con I have about this game is that you cannot dodge or have any melee attack that's accessible in four, five and six. Now I know the majority of the fans of the series do not like that because it takes away from the "survival horror" aspect of the game and turn it into an action-horror but looking at the field and relation but the main characters are from they have these assets and should be able to use them. That's a big part of surviving.

This is by far the best Resident Evil remake I have ever played. This takes you back to the first time you played Resident Evil on the PlayStation and the fear
you felt wondering what was around the corner. This game had me on the edge of my seat and I would get that moment when I would have that swallow in my throat from fear of the unexpected situation. The extras that can be unlocked are amazing. The music, the action, the puzzles and the creatures are just what I have come to expect from such a great title. Capcom has done a really great job on this game. Any true fan of the Resident Evil series should have Resident Evil 2 Remake in their collection.

Graphics look great, sound is great, the added/expanded features are great. Definitely one of the better games this year. You can move and aim simultaneously. Game has at least 2 play throughs each character. This game is a steal if you can get if for below retail price. One annoying thing is that there is one aspect of the game that is supposed to add tension (and it definitely does), but it gets irking. It's difficult to explore. Other than that, great work Capcom.

So much about this game is great. It has such a sense of horror and tenseness to it. The boss fights are great, you get chased the police station around by everyone's favorite stalker monster (well besides Nemesis) and that adds a lot of fear. 2 different campaigns for each character with the 2nd one being very faithful to the original with where enemies and items show up. They took liberties with the first campaign. It's amazing and good fun for any Resident Evil or horror fan.

For those of you, like me, that appreciated the old school RE titles, this game is for you! This game is a return to the series roots and a worthy successor to the excellent REmake of the first game. This game is what all remasters and remakes should strive to be. A true passion product of Capcom and it shows. Definitely recommended for horror fans or those looking for a challenging game that doesnt hold your hand.

Resident Evil 2 for the PlayStation 1 is one of my favorite games ever. This remake does an amazing job of bring that experience to modern gaming. Not only does it feature completely redone graphics but it also has the over the shoulder camera/combat system popularized in Resident Evil 4. There were some omissions to the orignal story and the variety of enemies is poor but overall it's a stellar game.

I was excited when i heard the announcement of the resident evil 2 remake. I preordered it since the very first day best buy allow pre-order for his game. As a veteran of resident evil 2, i thought i knew everything, but boy, was i wrong. Lots of new stuff in the game. I would highly reccommend this game for Resident evil 2 fans. Now i cant wait for the resident evil 3 remake (hopefully capcom really do it).

Ask just about any longtime RE fan what their favorite game in the series is and you'll probably get 50% "RE2" and 50% "RE4" since both games were the pinnacle of each style of gameplay in the series. Personally, I could not pick a favorite, but the original trilogy holds a special place in my heart as a gamer.
Fast forward to 2018, a full 20 years later, and we have this utterly perfect remaster to enjoy. Featuring the new RE Engine (also used in RE7), the RE2 remaster is in third person and totally blew me away. The game will be familiar to fans, as the story, characters and locations all remains faithful to the original, but -everything- else is upgraded.
Gameplay is fine tuned to perfection, modern but retaining the classic RE feel. Controls are spot on, graphics are intense, audio is ambient and the sound effects are amazing. The gameplay is fast paced, tight and warps me back to twenty years ago when I first got my hands on the Playstation version.
Anyone can enjoy this game, but if you were around for the original release, this will be that much more special to you. Perfect 10/10.

If you're a fan of the original or a newcomer to survival horror, this game is a master class in combining gorgeous graphics, sound game-play and atmospheric chills! This is what a REMAKE should be! Taking the original, updating it to today's standards and improving on it in every way. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful scenery, but be weary: danger is around every corner....

Nostalgia for the original masterpiece Resident Evil 2 isn't required to enjoy this, though certainly comes in handy.
The 2019 remake is gorgeous in its horror, brilliant in it's control, and haunting in its sound design. Incredibly satisfying upon each replay and full of content.
Definitely going to end up one of the finest games of the year.

RE2 is a frighteningly good remake. The game’s two scenarios play a little too closely to each other, but overall I found a lot of replayability in the game. There is new content for the game which adds to the game’s value. This game is a little slow when compared to RE4 - RE6, but it’s more atmoshereic and rich in mood than those.

Resident Evil 2 has ALWAYS been my game. I lost track of how many times I beat both Leon and Claire's terrifying trek through Raccoon City in the original. It was the first game I received with my Playstation and it was the first game to truly terrify me from what lies beyond an unopened door.
This remaster is absolutely everything I was hoping it would be from the first time Capcom teased rebuilding it. I waited years after the original was rebuilt for Gamecube, with little news or hope to rely on. Those years were absolutely worth every single minute.
The game looks absolutely incredible. The new character models, lighting effects, gameplay, and cinematics, are an absolute love letter to fans of the original, while coming off extremely fresh for first time players. I will reserve that the original soundtrack is far superior to the remake however, which makes me ecstatic that Capcom included it with the Deluxe edition.
If you are a fan of survival horror, buy this game. If you loved the original and are hesitant to retread, I assure you won't be disappointed.

Capcom did an amazing job on this remake. Not only do you get 2 slightly different scenarios to play through, you also get different difficulties which makes for continued play long after you complete the game.

What can I say that hasn’t been said about this game. The story has been modernized and plays out well, the creature designs are downright excellent and the gameplay is fantastic. If you were a big fan of classic Capcom, this game will bring back those feels in a heartbeat.

Fantastic game! If you liked the hide-and-seek gameplay from Alien: Isolation or never played the original 1998 game then you should definitely check out this game.
Normally I don't go for any sort of Deluxe or Collector's Editions for the extra digital goodies but I thought being able to swap out the remake's OST with the original 1998 game's OST was pretty cool and the extra costumes are a bonus to me. It should be noted that the extra digital content (weapon, costumes, ost) Is also available on PSN for about $3 for each Item or $15 In a bundle but with the Deluxe Edition you'll save $5 overall so If you want everything and don't have the game yet then the Deluxe Edition Is what you want.
Also Included In my purchase was a steelbook, nothing super fancy looking but It's still cool to get one without paying $100 or more on an overpriced Collector's Edition like most games nowadays.

Wow, this really takes the Resident Evil franchise back to the survival-horror roots. Don't get me wrong, I loved 4-6, but this takes the 3rd person over-the-shoulder view of those games and pairs it spiritually with the earlier titles to create a thrilling, suspense-filled experience. Zombies are frustratingly difficult to put down (and keep down!) and you'll find yourself simultaneously running from the indestructible Mr. X while trying to silently sneak past the godawful Lickers. Four different campaigns (two for Leon, two for Claire) that have many similarities overall but require very different strategies, so there's plenty of replay value. You can knock a campaign out in a day or two, but there's a good 50+ hours of gaming to be had here depending on how dedicated you are to mastering it.
