Rexing R88 — My first 4K Rexing dashcam

I got the R88 for my newly leased car, and it’s my first 4K dash cam from Rexing. The video quality is a huge jump. The Sony STARVIS sensors give clean, sharp footage day and night, and plates and signs are easy to read. One thing I’ve always liked about Rexing is that they include the hardwire kit and SD card. Setup was simple, and the front camera hides well behind the mirror. The rear camera works great too, though the straight plug makes cable management a bit harder. Wi-Fi transfers are fast, GPS logging is accurate, and overall the camera feels reliable. The only limitation is the 30fps cap at 4K, but the clarity still holds up. Overall, the R88 is a strong, hassle-free upgrade. As my first 4K dash cam with Rexing, it definitely exceeded expectations.

I’ve been using Rexing dash cams since 2018 with zero issues, and the R88 4K Front + 4K Rear Dash Cam seems to continue that reliability. The video quality is excellent on both cameras. The STARVIS system seems to deliver clear footage day and night. The wide field of view and built-in GPS are also big pluses, and the 5.8GHz Wi-Fi makes pulling footage to your phone quick and easy. Setup is straightforward, though a few reviewers (and I’d agree) noted that the rear camera cable could be a bit easier to tuck away. Some also point out that 30 fps in 4K is the limit, but the clarity more than makes up for it. The price point is definitely on the higher side, but you’re getting strong value for what you pay: dual true-4K, quality sensors, GPS, and solid build quality. And if you grab it during a Black Friday sale, it becomes an even better buy. A dash cam is one of those things you set and forget, but are invaluable when you need it most. I even swap my rexings into rental vehicles when I can. If you are ever in an accident, it could be your word against theirs without proof, and Rexing delivers that proof, clearly and reliably.

Solid Dual Dash Cam—Worth the Money

I’ve been using this dash cam for a while now, and I’m really happy with it. The front and rear video quality is super clear, even at night, which honestly surprised me. Setup was easy and everything I needed was included. The app works smoothly, and downloading clips over Wi-Fi is super convenient. One feature I really like is the parking mode — once it’s hardwired, it keeps recording any movement or impact while the car is off, which gives me peace of mind. GPS tracking is also nice since it adds speed and location to the footage. If I had to pick something to improve, the cable routing can be a bit of a hassle if you want it perfectly hidden. Other than that, it’s been solid and definitely worth it.

Top-Tier Dash Cam Setup for Serious Drivers

I just had the Rexing R88 4K Dual Dash Cam installed in my car, and I have to say I’m really impressed. The 4K video quality from both the front and rear cameras is outstanding—license plates, street signs, and road details are all super sharp, even at night thanks to the Sony STARVIS sensors. The wide 170° view also does a great job covering blind spots. The 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi makes pulling clips off the camera really easy with the app, so I don’t have to mess with taking out the microSD card every time. It also comes packed with useful features like GPS, parking mode, loop recording, and a G-sensor that automatically locks footage during an impact. The only tricky part was the installation. Running the cables for both cameras took a bit of work, so I ended up paying about $50 to have it professionally installed, which was worth it for the clean setup. At around $400 it’s definitely pricier than your average dash cam, but if you want excellent video quality and full coverage, it feels like money well spent.

    Large screen

I love the large screen--this is much easier to see than other, older dashcam models. The recorded image is high quality when viewed on a computer screen and that is important as that is how it will be viewed for evidence. The camera body feels hot, but I don’t know if that will affect it. I like that the memory card and hardwire kit is included with this product. I never used the app, or wifi features, I just remove the micro SD memory card and insert into my computer to with easy to use controls to view the videos on my large monitor. It’s good that I don’t need a subscription as that would add up to a lot of money over time. The included memory card and hardwire kit are great because I would have had to spend another $60 and time to buy that. One drawback to this dashcam is that it puts “Rexing” on the video. I would rather not have their company name on my footage since I’m not getting royalties for advertising for them.

I’ve been using the Rexing R88 for a couple of weeks and I’m very happy with it. The front and rear cameras both record in 4K and the video quality is excellent, even at night. I tested it in a dark parking lot and could still make out license plates clearly. Setup was easier than I expected, and once installed it looks clean and doesn’t get in the way. The WiFi and GPS are super convenient because I can just connect my phone to review clips without pulling out the memory card. The interface is simple and the touchscreen makes it easy to adjust settings quickly. The GPS overlay with speed and location is also helpful when going back through footage. The overall build quality feels solid and the design is discreet enough that it doesn’t draw attention. I haven’t needed it for an accident yet, but just knowing it’s recording every drive gives me peace of mind. Definitely one of the better dash cams I’ve owned and well worth the price.

I couldn’t be happier with the Rexing R88. The 4K front and rear cameras deliver unbelievably clear footage—day or night. The Sony STARVIS sensors pick up every detail, even in low light, and the wide-angle lenses give a full view of the road. Setup was simple, and the 5.8GHz Wi-Fi makes it super easy to review or download clips on my phone. I also love the built-in GPS that logs speed and location automatically—no extra accessories needed. Parking mode and the G-sensor give me peace of mind when the car’s parked, and the high-temperature resistance is perfect for New England weather. Overall, this dash cam checks every box: quality, reliability, and ease of use. If you want a dual 4K system that truly delivers, the Rexing R88 is worth every penny!

I received the R88 very fast after purchasing. I took it with me over the weekend to a trip far out into Nevada and overall, I’m very happy with the upgrade. I have Rexing dash cams in all of my vehicles and this one specifically replaced my trusty V1P Pro. I will say that the video quality at 4k was absolutely breathtaking compared to my 1080p cam before. Usually, when sensors are advertised, they are a bit of an overstatement; but I can confirm that whatever the upgraded Starvis 2 sensor provides, it is fantastic. I was able to watch back footage from the middle of nowhere and see almost everything in view. I didn't get to test how the sensors work when someone is behind you in the middle of nowhere though (the only light source). In populated areas, it cuts through the headlights and taillights to present clear video though. License plates were indeed still hard to read, as another reviewer pointed out. Setup was pretty straightforward. I already had manually hardwired my previous cam, so installation was a breeze, as I just had to follow the line to replace it with the newer USB-C kit. I do appreciate that with the higher cost, we also get the installation kit and the 128GB SD card, as these are often overlooked and must be purchased separately. Routing the rear camera cable took a bit of time, and I found the extension to be way too long for my Xterra, but that is a very good problem to have in my mind. I just ziptied the excess under the dash. The touchscreen was responsive enough. You don't spend much time on these messing with them after installation anyways though, so I am still happy that the screen is so good for the price. The size for viewing is definitely welcome as it is much bigger than anything I've used previously, and the built-in GPS and parking sensor is awesome. I've never had these features before so it's nice in case I need to use them! I've always disliked not having the G-sensor included in other cameras. I did have issues with transferring video to my phone, but I take it as more of an app issue and not with the actual connection to the camera. I've had previous issues with the V1P Pro as well, but it's never been too bad because I just take the sd card out if I want some recordings. I also dislike the mounting method being only adhesive simply because my V1P Pro often came off when traveling to high desert type climates where it's frigid at night and extremely hot during the day. Time will tell if this adhesive is better, but for now it seems much stronger than previous camera mounting pads. This is a very expensive dash cam, but you get pretty much everything you need in one, tightly condensed package. I appreciate the quality that comes with the price, and I don't feel anything is necessarily skimped out on. Over time, I hope that the app improves more, but that's a very minor gripe!

I have owned quite a few Rexing Dash Cams and they keep getting better as they come out with new designs. Overall this is a great camera with a few things to note. Positives: - Image quality of the recordings is amazing even in low light. - overall an easy to navigate menu and setup process. - a lot if great features built in, GPS, WiFi, and touch screen. - the included memory card is great to get started right out of the box. Other Considerations: - I do wish it had a removable mount option, once its installed you can't remove it if you want to clean the windshield behind it or use it in another car. - I wish the lens was more center on the unit, it makes placement a little tough if you have any obstructions to the left of your mounting location, such as shrouding for in car cameras and safety devices. - I wish the lens had a little more adjustment or the mount had a little more adjustment to help if you have to have it off center or need to tilt it a little more because of you windshield. Overall its a great dash cam and it is packed with some great features.

Love this dash cam. Dual 4K looks insanely clear day and night. The hardwire kit is clutch for parking mode so it keeps an eye on the car even when it’s off. Built-in wifi makes pulling clips to my phone super easy. And the touch screen is way better than fiddling with tiny side buttons

The dual 4K cameras capture super clear video from both the front and back, and even at night the Sony STARVIS sensors pick up license plates and details I didn’t expect. This is a decent camera for a good price. The kit comes with everything you need: a front camera, a rear camera, power supplies, a hardwire kit, stickers, and an app that allows you to view and download recorded videos to your phone. It's nice to have the app so you don't have to pull out the SD card to view your recorded videos. The video feed is of decent quality such that you can clearly see what is going on in the video. It records audio so you can hear too! This kit offers great value with everything it comes with.
