I replaced my old Rexing V1P dashcam with the R88. I do like the camera. The videos are very clear. But here is one suggestion, Plug it into your laptop or however you can get power to it, so you can go through the settings before mounting it. Once this camera is attached to the windshield you cannot take it off (It does come off easier using the electrostatic sheet, but you may need a new one to put it back on). I have the older model Rexing Universal Intelligent Hardwire Kit that I used with the V1P. It is for motion detection. It it hardwired in and I have never had my battery go dead because of it. It does work with the R88. In fact, I left all the Intelligent kit wiring alone and plugged it into the R88. The newer version (Rexing Smart Hardwire kit with 360 motion) says it does not work with hybrids. However the Best Buy site said it was compatible with my car. I didn't try it since my older version worked. The motion detection works like a charm, with my R88. When I enter the garage the camera turns on. The camera has all sorts of settings and options. I do wish the manual included all the settings and options. But some are easy. The screen is large enough to see the split of the front and back camera. You can turn the screen saver off if you want to see the camera working or choose when the screen saver comes on, There is a Parking Mode and also a Gravity Sensing detection options. Since I have the separate Motion detection, I keep the Parking Mode Off and Gravity Sensing on Low. I also changed the sd card to a 256 from the 128 that it came with.

The Pros: True Movie Quality: The dual 4K cameras, both front and back, really deliver. The video is so clear that you can pause and zoom in on faraway license plates or small details without any trouble. Blazing-fast Wi-Fi: This is the first camera I’ve tried where the app runs smoothly. A 200MB video download in just 5-10 seconds, thanks to the 5.8GHz Wi-Fi, a big step up from older models. Easy Setup: Installing the app and connecting the camera was simple and quick. The Cons: Power Cable: My main complaint is about the power source. The rear camera uses USB-C, but the front camera still needs a large cigarette lighter plug. In a newer car with mostly USB-C ports, I wish Rexing included a USB-C power cable so I wouldn’t have to search for a 12V socket. Night Glare: At night, I saw some vertical streaks and light bleed from streetlights and oncoming cars, especially on the front camera. This makes license plates hard to read until the car is closer and the camera adjusts to the light. Overall, I’d rate it 4.5 stars if that were possible, and I would still recommend it to anyone looking for high-end protection.

I’ve just purchased and installed Rexing R88 4K Front + 4K Rear Dual Sony STARVIS Dash Cam. I am pretty impressed. The video quality seems to be top-notch — even in low light or at night, everything is sharp and detailed as with my previous Rexing cam. Both the front and rear cameras produce clear footage. This seems to be due to the dual Sony STARVIS sensors. The installation was relatively intuitive and connecting via the 5.8GHz Wi-Fi seems to make transferring clips easy from what I can tell. The built-in GPS seems to be a plus — it logs speed and location accurately, which adds peace of mind in case of any incidents/accidents. Overall, this dash cam delivers excellent quality, smart features, and reliability — absolutely worth the investment for anyone who values safety and high-definition footage on the road.

I’ve been using Rexing dash cams since 2018 with zero issues, and the R88 4K Front + 4K Rear Dash Cam seems to continue that reliability. The video quality is excellent on both cameras. The STARVIS system seems to deliver clear footage day and night. The wide field of view and built-in GPS are also big pluses, and the 5.8GHz Wi-Fi makes pulling footage to your phone quick and easy. Setup is straightforward, though a few reviewers (and I’d agree) noted that the rear camera cable could be a bit easier to tuck away. Some also point out that 30 fps in 4K is the limit, but the clarity more than makes up for it. The price point is definitely on the higher side, but you’re getting strong value for what you pay: dual true-4K, quality sensors, GPS, and solid build quality. And if you grab it during a Black Friday sale, it becomes an even better buy. A dash cam is one of those things you set and forget, but are invaluable when you need it most. I even swap my rexings into rental vehicles when I can. If you are ever in an accident, it could be your word against theirs without proof, and Rexing delivers that proof, clearly and reliably.

I have 2 other dash cams by Rexing for my other two vehicles and I’ve been using the R88 now for a few days and I like it a lot! The picture is crystal clear, I can see cars and license plates perfectly, even at night. My husband installed it pretty quickly and he said it was pretty simple. I love that it turns on automatically when I start my car. I like that it’s small and doesn’t block my view, but the screen is still larger than on my other models and shows everything clearly. It works every time I drive and hasn’t given me any problems. So far it’s a great dash cam and I’m very happy with it! Highly recommend :)

I received the R88 very fast after purchasing. I took it with me over the weekend to a trip far out into Nevada and overall, I’m very happy with the upgrade. I have Rexing dash cams in all of my vehicles and this one specifically replaced my trusty V1P Pro. I will say that the video quality at 4k was absolutely breathtaking compared to my 1080p cam before. Usually, when sensors are advertised, they are a bit of an overstatement; but I can confirm that whatever the upgraded Starvis 2 sensor provides, it is fantastic. I was able to watch back footage from the middle of nowhere and see almost everything in view. I didn't get to test how the sensors work when someone is behind you in the middle of nowhere though (the only light source). In populated areas, it cuts through the headlights and taillights to present clear video though. License plates were indeed still hard to read, as another reviewer pointed out. Setup was pretty straightforward. I already had manually hardwired my previous cam, so installation was a breeze, as I just had to follow the line to replace it with the newer USB-C kit. I do appreciate that with the higher cost, we also get the installation kit and the 128GB SD card, as these are often overlooked and must be purchased separately. Routing the rear camera cable took a bit of time, and I found the extension to be way too long for my Xterra, but that is a very good problem to have in my mind. I just ziptied the excess under the dash. The touchscreen was responsive enough. You don't spend much time on these messing with them after installation anyways though, so I am still happy that the screen is so good for the price. The size for viewing is definitely welcome as it is much bigger than anything I've used previously, and the built-in GPS and parking sensor is awesome. I've never had these features before so it's nice in case I need to use them! I've always disliked not having the G-sensor included in other cameras. I did have issues with transferring video to my phone, but I take it as more of an app issue and not with the actual connection to the camera. I've had previous issues with the V1P Pro as well, but it's never been too bad because I just take the sd card out if I want some recordings. I also dislike the mounting method being only adhesive simply because my V1P Pro often came off when traveling to high desert type climates where it's frigid at night and extremely hot during the day. Time will tell if this adhesive is better, but for now it seems much stronger than previous camera mounting pads. This is a very expensive dash cam, but you get pretty much everything you need in one, tightly condensed package. I appreciate the quality that comes with the price, and I don't feel anything is necessarily skimped out on. Over time, I hope that the app improves more, but that's a very minor gripe!

Features: The built-in GPS automatically stamps speed, location, and time onto recordings, which is great for accountability. The Wi-Fi connection is fast and makes transferring clips to my phone simple—I don’t have to mess with the SD card anymore. Parking mode is another nice feature, but you’ll want to hardwire the camera to get the most out of it. Installation & Build: Setup was straightforward. The front camera sits neatly behind my rearview mirror, and the rear camera is small enough not to block the view. The included hardwire kit and 128GB microSD card are a nice bonus. Performance: I have seen people mention that recording is limited to 30fps, which is fine for everyday driving. I am not sure if/when I will need more than 30 FPS. Overall the clarity is excellent. The touchscreen is responsive, and locking important clips is easy with one tap. On my previous camera locking a video to make sure it was not overwritten was challenging. This one is simpler. Value: This isn’t the cheapest dash cam, but Rexing has never been about being the cheapest. What you get is durability, great customer service, and a product that lasts. Compared to other brands, the R88 gives you premium features at a fair price. As This was an incentivized purchase, it is not so much a concern to me. Overall Rexing provides the amazing support for their products. I would always consider their products over any other brands just for their support. In the past I had a problem with one of my cameras and after a few emails the person said to just send it in and they would fix it. A few days later I received my camera back fixed. AMAZING SUPPORT. The one thing that I wish was different about this camera is that the current Rexing camera I am using allows me to take video of what is in front of my car and what is inside (in the cabin of my car) but not what is behind my car. I always wanted all three items to be recorded. The R88 takes video of what is in front of the car and what is behind the card but NOT what is in the car. I wish I had all three. Bottom Line: The Rexing R88 is a solid, feature-packed dash cam that delivers on video quality, reliability, and ease of use. If you’re serious about protecting yourself on the road, this is a camera worth investing in. If I was looking for a new camera for my car this would be a solid choice.

Just bought the new R88 and at first I was skeptical on the size of the screen. But it the perfect size. Easy to use and I love the parking feature for security. The picture on the screen and the camera are crystal clear. Both from and back. Highly recommend must buy!

I’ve been using Rexing dash cams for about 8 years, and they’ve earned my trust. I still have a unit from over 6 years ago running strong in one of my cars, which speaks volumes about their reliability and build quality. In my opinion, Rexing remains one of the top dash cam manufacturers in the U.S., and the R88 continues that reputation. The R88’s dual 4K setup with the new SONY STARVIS sensor is exactly what I’ve been waiting for, especially finally having a true 4K rear camera. Both front and rear footage are extremely clear and sharp, day and night. Details like plates, lanes, and surrounding vehicles are crisp, which is exactly what you want from a dash cam. Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS are great quality-of-life features and work as expected. I highly recommend pairing this with a hardwire kit so you can route the cables cleanly and keep everything looking OEM. One small design tweak I’d like to see in a future revision is changing the rear camera connector from a straight plug to a right-angle/angled connector, which would make cable routing much easier and cleaner. My only real criticism: the frame rate is locked at 30fps. For most everyday driving, that’s fine. But for higher-speed highway driving, 60fps would provide smoother, more detailed footage. If Rexing adds a 60fps option at 4K, this would be as close to a “never need to upgrade” dash cam as it gets. Overall, the R88 is a fantastic, high-quality camera system that lives up to the Rexing name, with just a couple of tweaks needed to make it truly perfect.

I'm a long haul truck driver and I've had a few dash cameras. Including two others from Rexing, which have been great. This new model though, is a huge leap forward! Right out of the box you can tell it's quality made, it's got some weight to it, but it's small and sleek looking. All the wiring is well made too and it comes with a hard wire kit to bypass 12v plugs that lose power when the ignition is off. Plus they even include the SD card, very thoughtful additions that I haven't seen before. The picture quality on my two previous Rexing cameras was good but this new one is amazing! The touch screen is a huge upgrade, making it faster and easier to access the features I'm looking for. My favorite part of this new model is the second camera intended for the rear of the vehicle. I have mine mounted on the passenger side of my semi truck, looking out the side window at my blindspot area. This is where most accidents can start in a big vehicle from cars merging onto the highway and forward looking cameras just don't capture it. Along with the GPS and speed recording, I know this will be a great "witness" if I ever have to rely on it. The parking sensor feature gives me peace of mind when I park my truck in a truck stop to get a shower. It's common to get a bump and run in those tight parking spaces. So it's nice to know the footage will be there if I need it. I haven't tried the app as the reviews for it are mixed, so I can't speak to that part. I'm old school, so I prefer to just pop the SD card out.

Rexing R88 is a solid dash cam, this is my second Rexing camera. It comes with the intelligent hardware kit which is nice. The old one required me to purchase separately. Camera is high quality, provides a wide angle view, and can see license plates clearly in daylight. Installation instructions are decent, but there's a gap on how to install the back camera. The microSD card does not come with an SD card adapter for those wanting to plug into a computer later on. Also the unit heats up quickly (can tell with it sitting in my hand), hoping this does not impact performance in the summer when it's been baking.

I bought the R88 to replace my Rexing V1P that I'd been using in my Honda CR-V for the last 3-4 years. I really liked the V1P, but I really wanted the 4K rear-camera resolution and a built-in GPS (V1P required a separate GPS accessory) so I decided to upgrade. I've been using the R88 for about a week now and am blown away by the video quality from both the front and back camera. With my old dashcam I usually could not read license plates of the cars behind me, but with the 4K rear camera of the R88 that's no longer an issue. The GPS works great, and I love that I can transfer recordings to my phone via WiFi - no more having to take the SD card out of the camera and plug it into my phone or computer to transfer files. The R88 is an excellent choice for dash camera that packs a ton of features into a very competitive price.

Just got the Rexing R88 a couple weeks ago and it's been great so far. Front and rear both do true 4K, and the Sony STARVIS sensors actually make a big difference at night – can still read plates pretty clearly when it's dark out. The 5.8GHz WiFi is way faster than my old cam for pulling videos to my phone, and GPS works fine for speed and route stuff. Stuck it on the windshield easy enough, doesn't look too obvious, and all the basics like parking mode, loop recording, and crash detection seem to do their job without issues. I just had the Rexing R88 4K Dual Dash Cam installed in my car, and I have to say I’m really impressed.
