Back when they really were the best

Yes, a classic. One of metal's all-time greatest. Back when, believe it or not, Metallica were an underground band. This is the record that confirmed their genius and defined what Thrash Metal was/and would be for all time. Heavy, bone crushing, and technical with riffs for days.
If you'r looking for something that sounds like the Black album - GO AWAY!!! This was, and will always be, the REAL Metallica.

The Deth Album

Thrash masterpiece! "Ride the Lighting" was Metallica's sophomore album and let me tell you, there is no slump. What has changed since "Kill 'Em All? The album is not nearly as raw, along with both songwriting and lead work taking huge steps forward, the band members are beginning to grow into what they would become, on their beastly follow up, "Master Of Puppets",... Thrash Legends!...Lars Ulrich's drums were not my favorite on this album but he definitely gets the job done. James Hetfield's vocals are improving. Kirk Hammet really stands out with some spectacular lead work. What can possibly said about the great Cliff Burton (R.I.P.) except he was and always will be one of the greatest bass players in metal. The lyrics surrounding death with the incredible music, makes for very intense play to say the least.
Standout tracks "Creeping Death", "For Whom The Bell Tolls, "Ride the Lighting" and the thrash ballad "Fade to Black", along with the album closing instrumental "The Call of KTULU", make this a thrash classic that will live on forever. Every track on this album is classic. Buy it at Best Buy.

METALLICA's high point

Combining speed, power, and subtlety, Ride the Lightning is METALLICA's greatest triumph. While the other 1980s METALLICA albums have their strengths, this is the one album that I turn to the most in their discography.

Awesome CD at the low price of $5.99! Brings back tons of memories from my early years, and Metallica is just timeless. With this and all of the Metallica CDs being so low in price it's worth picking them all up.

I have bought this album at least 2-3 times over the years because it has just disappeared (or someone borrowed it and I could not remember who). Great metal music and is hard to believe it is as old as it is.

Some good jams from Metallica, in a cd format. If your ipod ever gets lost or somehow ends up in the washing machine you've got a cold, hard-copy at your fingertips to jam away at metal all day.

A metal must for all collections. A game changer in 1984 and still is relevant in 2015. My third copy after the vinyl purchase in 1984 and a worn out cd that was purchased in the '90's.

Guess these guy's are to lazy to remaster this. I mean it sounds good don't get me wrong but it the age of today a remaster of the first 3 CD's would be great!

So many great songs. Metallica really began to come come together on this one, and distinguish themselves as a band too be reckoned with

Metallica hits hard with their 2nd album. The album contains songs; each of them being masterpieces.
