Great security device and view is clear. The video live and time lapse feature is amazing!

Easy to install. All the information is shown in a video that you can pause to follow.

If WiFi signal is strong then camera is more than adequate. A weak signal makes camera very slow or unusable. Signal depends on internet provider. Would recommend camera in urban area but would suggest a more robust camera for rural use.

I've owned every version of the Ring Door View Cam and I must say each edition seems to bring a little more than the previous. Like I'm really enjoying the fact that size of the overall Camera has gotten smaller. It's not covering up so much of the middle door as it did once before. I can't say enough about this product. Told my neighbors about it and now they too have one on their front door.

I would not recommend this peephole Door View Cam. It is way overpriced at $200 – the picture and sound quality do not justify this price point. I would price this item at maybe $80 - $100. The motion is somewhat choppy, and the audio is muffled making it difficult to communicate with the person at your door. I am an audio engineer, so I know a thing or two about sound. We have $25 security cameras inside our apartment (not Ring products) that have comparable picture and sound quality at a fraction of the cost. Also, the Ring.com app is extremely slow. It can take up to 6 seconds for the app to open once a notification appears and then up to 10 MORE seconds for the live video feed to start. By this time, the person at your door may already be gone. For those who will say it’s an issue with our WIFI speed/signal – that is NOT the case. Tech support confirmed that these were considered standard processing times. We have a very strong home connection (also confirmed by tech support during remote testing), and we purchased a WIFI range extender that we positioned right by the Ring device, and the app processing speed remained slow. Next, while I understand this is a new product, customer service gave conflicting, incorrect information every time we called in (before buying) to ask questions. For example, we inquired as to whether the hardware was on the inside or on the outside part of the device. This was important to us because we have a heavy apartment door that the signal would have to travel through. We were told that the hardware was on the inside, which is not the case. It is on the outside, only the batteries are on the inside – thus, if you have a thick, heavy door, your signal may be affected. Additionally, many of the ring devices come in a variety of color choices so buyers can match the unit to their door hardware. This is important for renters who are required to maintain consistent entry appearances. For some reason, the Door View Cam only comes in silver. Customer Service advised that we could modify the cover color ourselves WITHOUT voiding the warranty; however, that is not true. We purchased the unit based on this advice and were then told after the fact (thankfully before we modified the plastic cover) that this would, in fact, void the warranty. Another major contradiction. Overall, the product is disappointing as were our interactions with customer support. I would rate both the product itself (considering build, performance, etc.) and our overall buying experience 1 out of 5. Maybe once this product has been out for a while these issues will improve, but for now, buyers beware!

My doorbell does not face the front of my house and once this was announced at CES 2019 I knew this might be the best option for my home. Well now I have this item and I must say it is great. It faces the front of my house and records everything like it should.
