Got this on sale and it made a great addition to my Ring security system. It has one purpose, to detect motion. The cool thing about Ring’s ecosystem is that if you have Ring floodlights or their other lights, this sensor can tell those lights to activate if it senses motion. Super handy to have and I recommend it 100%.

Its suppose to be an outdoor unit and should be water resistant from rain. Unfortunately this piece did not last for more than 3months. Water drained inside spoiling the piece. My advice, don't waste ur money on this item

Great cameras to further support the ring system of home security. Easy to setup and not bad price. You do have to upgrade your subscription though to 10/month to support more than one camera

Because it is not possible to set security cameras to not detect and alarm on bugs and flying objects at night that are attracted to the infrared night vision I use these as the notification device that there is movement. (I know there are those experts that say you just need to know how to setup the motion sensors but I have wasted too may hours trying) I turn off the camera alarm notification at night because of bugs and use the Ring motion sensor to notify me of movement or persons in the view of the camera. Using these I can set the sensitivity on the cameras to better detect and record humans and most size animals. I live in rural Texas and have 14 high dollar security cameras and sleep much better using these rather than the camera notification at night.

I am very pleased with this motion detector. I needed some additional coverage to fill in between my other RING devices. They are very user friendly and easy to connect to my existing system. I have my outside cameras and floodlights activate when these detect motion. You do need a RING bridge in order for them to function which is sold separately at Best Buy at around $49.99.,

The wireless motion sensor is so so. It only has a range of 15 feet which is a short distance for what I originally wanted for. It’ll be better suited for a narrow walkway or near a bedroom window to detect unwanted persons. Setting it up and installing it is easy, uses AAA batteries, and the device is small. I only bought one to test it out, I won’t buy another. Only recommended for small areas, not for large areas. It links up to other Ring devices to expand those security capabilities. Hope this helps you decide.

The item does what it is supposed to, the key is taking having a Ring Bridge and some planning. I have this item tied into my Ring Low Voltage Transformer. I have it positioned around the side of my house so that when guests come around the corner to the back of my house where I have built a deck for the neighbors to hang out after dark, it lights the deck stairs. I played with the location of the sensor several times so that the step lights come on just as they round the corner usually unless they are running. I moved it around a couple of times due to the slight lag between motion and the lights coming on. So far it has been great, and at a casual stroll the timing is perfect, gotten lots of compliments on my setup.

I bought this to extend the motion alert far before any motion reaches the spotlight cam. However, after a few days of try and error + test, I decided to return this item because - The linkage configuration somehow has some issues with the motion sensor and spotlight cam. It is not promising that the spotlight cam starts to record when the motion sensor detects motions. - When the spotlight cam starts to record, it does not turn on the light at night time or even with a configurable time. - With all the issues above, even Ring cannot help me to configure properly and do as I expected. In terms of this motion sensor, somehow the distances are quite misleading. It only detects quite near and not even at 6' motion. With all that I experienced, asking for a refund is my final conclusion. Maybe it works well only with the smart lights but not with the spotlight cam ( let me know if that's the case )

Through the app you can change the sensitivity which is a plus. The battery life is decent as well.

Easy to setup and configure within the application

I purchased the Ring Motion Sensor to trigger one of my Stick-up cameras to start recording before motion was detected by the actual camera. It is working just as I wanted. Now the camera records a 'Linked-Event' on the camera even if motion isn't detected. The only downside is I don't get a notification for just the 'Linked-Event' I have researched it by don't believe it's possible. This is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 overall stars.

Each of the Ring Smart Lights have a motion sensor built in. You only need this if you need a motion sensor in an area without a light.

As long as the ring bridge is working and the range is not too far this device works well.

Works ok. Range could be better. I notice that it only detects at about 15 feet. I guess if you place it right it is rune. I bought two so it’s ok for me.

Bought to go with our whole ring system. Works great for our garage!
