Helps me get my sleep.
||Posted .Owned for 5 months when reviewed.Because it is not possible to set security cameras to not detect and alarm on bugs and flying objects at night that are attracted to the infrared night vision I use these as the notification device that there is movement. (I know there are those experts that say you just need to know how to setup the motion sensors but I have wasted too may hours trying) I turn off the camera alarm notification at night because of bugs and use the Ring motion sensor to notify me of movement or persons in the view of the camera. Using these I can set the sensitivity on the cameras to better detect and record humans and most size animals. I live in rural Texas and have 14 high dollar security cameras and sleep much better using these rather than the camera notification at night.

Not a bad addition to have
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Works ok. Range could be better. I notice that it only detects at about 15 feet. I guess if you place it right it is rune. I bought two so it’s ok for me.

Q: QuestionCan this be mounted onto a house made of brick? If not, what can I mount it to outside?
Asked by Ihatemyhp.
- A:Answer Hello Shopper777543, Great question! Yes, the Ring Motion Sensor can be placed on a brick surface. Here are step-by-step instructions for doing so: Slide the base down to remove it from your Motion Sensor. If installing on a masonry surface, use the mounting plate as a template to mark pilot holes. Then drill the holes and insert the anchors. Hold the base firmly against the surface and drive in the two mounting screws. Slide the motion sensor back onto its base until it clicks into place. Q: QuestionHow far can the sensor be from the bridge or WiFi. My driveway is long.
Asked by Dressymess.
- A:Answer Hello Dressymess, Great question! The useful range between your Bridge and other Ring Smart Lighting products depends on the number of obstructions between them, and the materials they’re made of. The RF signal has a greater range than wifi, but you may have to experiment with your devices to find an optimal position. Here is a helpful article for your review before purchasing and installing: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025181851-Ring-Smart-Lighting-Bridge-Information#How_far_away_can_a_Smart_Lights_product_be_before_it_is_too_far_away_to_work_with_the_Bridge. Q: QuestionWill the camera work at night?
Asked by SheRox.
- A:Answer Hello SheRox, Yes, all Ring security cameras use IR (infrared) lighting for night vision. Certain models of Ring devices have a night vision feature that allows you to see through the camera in low light conditions. By using infrared light, the camera can create a black and white image that is then beamed to the Live View in your app. By turning the color night vision feature on, the camera will use whatever ambient light is available to try and create a "false color" image in your Live View. This lets you get a better sense of what's happening in the image by creating a false sense of color depth. Here is a helpful article regarding this feature: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038559351-Understanding-Color-Night-Vision-and-Troubleshooting-Night-Vision. Q: QuestionI need a motion detector that when my 84 yr old Mom gets out of bed It will alert me
Asked by CathyB.
- A:Answer I know its been a month but I would still like to add my two cents.. personally with something like that i would get https://www.amazon.com/Driveway-Operating-Melodies-Security-Weatherproof/dp/B07YFT27K9/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2H7Q5GOUPA8RN&dchild=1&keywords=driveway+alarm&qid=1612117697&sprefix=driveway+%2Caps%2C232&sr=8-3 It's a drive way motion sensor that doesn't need a bridge or the ring network. unless of course you already have ring.. then its perfect

Q: QuestionDoes the app alert you that the batteries need to be changed?
Asked by Amber.
- A:Answer It hasn’t yet so I can’t really answer your question. I installed it about two months ago and it has not needed any batteries yet. Still reads full charge.
