I’ve read and seen many stories about the mesiah but Risen tops most. Other than the movie “Ben Hur” Risen is pretty close to being my favorite. It tells a story of a soldier in the Roman army who has to find out about the “Mesiah” Hebrews are worshipping as the son of God. Through his search he discovers uncomprehendable events so he leaves the army in persuit of the truth. A very good tale or nonfiction story about Jesus ... cleverly done. It’s a good movie for all.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and especially appreciated the viewpoint of the Roman Tribune. I could hear it fine and thought it had a gritty, realistic view of what life was like back then. There is some artistic license on its treatment of Christ’s life - they placed events that took place prior to the crucifixion after Jesus rose from the dead. I did not find this distracting although it was quite obvious. Overall it was excellent.

I've only seen it once. I thought it was a good movie. It's one I would watch again. The movie basically starts at the crucifixion of Christ and his burial and what happened afterward with the priests and Romans and the 3 day prediction of Jesus's rising. The search for His body by a Centurian and his discovery of a living Jesus.

Pretty good movie. I kinda chuckled at the consternation of the Romans , unable to find Christs body, but the smile faded as I saw the dead bodies of all the Jews . Kind of sobering , as it brought home to me the more recent tradegy of the WWII concentration camps . All in all , it was very well done. For purists , it may not do, for me it brought home the teachings of the New Testament. I'll watch it again.

What an unusual, and pretty interesting, take on the life, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Jesus as investigated by a Roman military officer. Trying to find evidence that the body of Jesus had been stolen he discovers a much different outcome, but only after a pretty good story line. I thought this movie was very well done and of course loved the mystery as it unfolded.

I purchased the movie Risen [Blu-ray] to see how the story of Jesus Christ was going to be told, but it was really a story about a Roman soldier. The movie was well done and acting was good. If you are a believer, you will appreciate the film. I also would recommend it to non-believers, because it is filmed from a non-believer's perspective. It was interesting to see how that time was represented.

I always buy my music and movies from Best Buy. Best Buy have a good deal from Tuesday until Saturday. They have huge selection and much as I like movies and music I never been disappointed when I order on line then pick my store and go pick it up. Best Buy lets me know by email or text when something new come in.

This was a very good movie, enjoyed it from start to finish. This story was told by a Roman soldier of high rank from his point of view. As he starts his journey to find the body of Christ and who may have taken it, he learns more about Christ than he wanted to know and he becomes a believer and goes out to tell others who will listen . Glad I bought this movie, worth seeing more than once.

Fiction of course, but wow, intriguing story of a Roman soldier's conversion after seeing the risen Christ (and talking with him) for himself. He was there at the crucifixion and confirmed the death of Jesus. Seeing someone dead and buried then seeing them alive shortly after would change the most committed skeptic to a 'believer'. Great film, great story and great dialogue.

First off, I'm a christian. so this is slanted. I enjoyed seeing the events of the crucifixion from the eyes of an unbeliever at the time of Christ. It was a compelling story done well, with good acting. I thought it showed the power of Christ to change a life. Although not much on faith. Over all a nice break from the swearing and nudity that so saturates everything today.

IF YOU WEREN'T A BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST, THEN THIS MOVIE WILL MAKE YOU BELIEVE IN HIM & RE-ASSURE YOU THAT THERE IS A HIGHER POWER IN THIS WORLD & THAT THERE IS A GOD & HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST...

Largely shown from the point of view of a privileged Roman officer, Risen depicts the period before and after the Passion of Jesus. The movie eschews showy effects and even over-the-top magical realism, and we see the transformation of this soldier from a passive enforcer to an empathetic observer, and perhaps, a true believer.

Production values in the movie were very well done as well as the acting. The only thing disappointing was adding the fictional element of the Roman centurion's role in the actual telling of the story. Historically, most of the events were factual, but turning the movie into Pontius Pilate's obsessive search for a body was totally fictional.

I was glad this Christian movie was available at Best Buy as they are hard to find in stores. In this movie, Romans were skeptics no different than the ones today, but you only need to experience,one time, the loving draw of the Savior to personally understand the veil of sin on ones life and how wrong we all perceive our world.

This extra-Biblical drama is told from a "non-believer" Roman viewpoint that incorporates many of the Biblical historical elements re: the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Interesting twist of perspective. Not for little kids due to images of dead bodies and violence/fighting. Good acting/cast.

This is a very good movie (4.5 stars wasn't available) and would highly recommend it to anyone. A great story from a unique perspective. The acting/casting was very good and the scenes felt authentic. Really, a beautiful movie.

Everybody knows the story of the resurrection of Jesus after his death but the story of the Roman reaction to the event is handled in a most unique way in this movie. A view of the problem this created for the establishment and its members is believable and telling in a profound way. Good from beginning to end.

The story closely followed Biblical teachings displaying Christ's human Characteristics while at the same time clearly portraying His Divinity! I also like the fact that many unfamiliar actors and actresses had parts, making the story better relate to all people and not just those who are popular and rich!

Loved that the resurrection was seen through the eyes of a non-believer. Not only did it add credence to the story but also it allowed some Hollywood magic. Plenty of action and surprises. Peter Firth played a great, ruthless Pilate. Joseph Fiennes made you feel his "pain" as his world was upended.

Columbia Pictures invested in this historical fiction film set around the time of the crucifixion of Jesus. The acting is excellent. It is a good use of imagination and brings the true biblical narrative to life for the viewer’s next reading.
