Back to Kunio basics! Thank you WayForward for this amazingly cool and pretty game. If you liked the original, get this, if not, give it a try. This is a beat em up like they don´t make them anymore.

Maybe my low key game of the year and so happy to have it physically. WayForward is by far one of the best developers of classic style games and this one is every bit as good as the shantae series.

Awesome game for the switch! Definitely go on YouTube and check out a few reviews of this game before purchase. It may not be for everyone but I thought it was fun.

Top notch classic beat 'em up gameplay with a great sense of humor to boot. These two girls certainly leave their mark on River City with baseball bats and their street fighting skills.

Luckily, River City Girls adds enough modern amenities to make it a worthwhile full price beat ‘em up purchase. For fans of: Streets of Rage, River City Ransom and challenging gameplay experiences.

Love the graphics and storyline but it's quite hard even on easy setting.

If you like those side scrolling beat em ups, then this one is right up your alley. Probably one of the better Limited Run Games released through Best Buy. So Grab it while you can.

I grew up playing beat-em' games and River City Ransom is def a fav on the NES. This game brings back the nostalgia but in a new package that doesn't get tiring as you progress.

Fun beat em up, best played with friends. Nice throwback to River City games that came out back in the day. So glad I was finally able to secure a copy through Best Buy!

I cannot stop playing this. The music is amazing and the retro feel is exactly what i like playing. The homage to River City Ransom is definitely on full display.

Played this with my girlfriend and we had a lot of fun. Didn’t expect what happened at the end and it was a great way to end the game.

This takes me back to the old beat’em ups of the 90s. Definitely a good game with solid graphics. Can’t wait for the sequel. Highly recommended

This is a cute sprite-based beat em' up that was super fun to play with my sister. Keep in mind that 2 players max can play at any given time.

"River City Girls" is a spin-off of the "Kunio-Kun" games (known as River City, Renegade, and a few others in the US) featuring the girlfriends of protagonists Kunio & Riki. Anyone familiar with beat-em-ups of old will know what to expect here...1-2 player, 8-way fighting action on-par with "Double Dragon" and "Streets Of Rage". There's an obvious faux pixelated 8-bit / 16-bit aesthetic during gameplay, but the character panels and cutscenes are of a more hi-res anime style. You play as either Misako or Kyoko as they fight through River City to find their kidnapped boyfriends. You can gain levels and buy items / attacks as you go, adding an RPG element to the mix. It's a short but sweet romp that leaves you clamoring for more, but there are a few extras to unlock that'll keep you replaying–such as the ability to play as both Kunio and Riki once you beat the game. "River City Girls' feels right at home on the Switch console. It's perfectly playable in both hand-held and docked mode, with only a few minor hiccups in frame-rate. If you dig old-school games, I highly recommend it.

Great throwback to Double Dragon, but with girls kicking butt! Who wouldn’t like that?! Thoroughly enjoy the coop of this game. Totally worth it!

This is a great buy for any player that enjoys beat em ups. It has cool art work, story is amazing, but the only problem I notice is that you have to be exactly align with the enemy to hit them. Sometimes you might miss a punch due to a few "inches" out of the punching zone. Regardless it is a great buy.

I love the river city ransom games and they do a great job with updating the graphics make it look even better. A must buy for beat'em fans

Awesome couch co op if you like beat um ups like double dragon, Scott pilgrim game , retro city rampage you’ll love this game.

This is based on River City Ransom games. The girlfriends are going to save the boys. Great action side scrolling beat em up. Fun to play.
