I needed to replace my DVD recorder and found that tivo was now available to me as an over the air antenna tv viewer, without a monthly service charge. I was not sure at first as all previous tivos required a monthly charge. After researching I found there was no monthly charge and I could record 4 programs simultaneously instead of the one on my DVD recorder, I deceided to purchase the Romio OTA tivo . Although it did take a while to download all the updates over the internet, I am very satisfied so far with it. The only complaint I have is that it runs constantly even when you do not have any shows set to record. You do need to purchase a splitter for your antenna so you can watch your tv without going through your tivo as the tivo has no antenna output. All your tv recordings and tv viewing is monitered through tivo so they do have a record of all your tv viewing history. While watching live tv through tivo you do have the option to pause or even go back when you missed something. So far I am satisfied and would recomend this as a great device to purchase.

Overall its a good DVR but has a few issues that would make it better like access to Sling or Ruku and a few others.

When Microsoft decided to cancel their plans to give the Xbox One DVR functionality I needed a different solution to enable us to cut the cable cord. TIVO's OTA box has proven ideal. The interface is excellent and makes finding and recording shows painless. This is easily the best TV/DVR interface that I have used. The only thing that would make it better is Sling streaming capability built in. Otherwise, great product.

Tivo Roamio OTA is very easy setup, remote control function is bit confuse and takes sometime to get familiar.

Purchased the Tivo when I cancelled Direct Tv. DVR function works as advertised and the included apps are great.

I have resisted cable TV for many years but was envious of DVRs that recorded multiple channels. The TIVO Romio is easy to use and records all that I need.

Bought this DVR to record programs when away from home. I'm hoping it will also record basic cable programming. It records local broadcasts that we can receive a strong signal from. Some local stations seem to drift in & out for reception, but this is not a DVR caused problem. We've had it a few months with no problem. I'm concerned that it doesn't have built-in fan for the components.

I've missed having the convenience of a DVR since cutting the cord a couple years ago, but the Tivo Roamio OTA finally provided a solution I was comfortable with trying. My biggest considerations prior to purchasing an OTA DVR were the quality of the tuners and the long-term viability of the unit. With the Tivo name, I was not worried about viability as compared with some of the other options. After purchasing the unit and using it for around 6 weeks, I can confidently say that the tuners in the unit are as good as if not slightly better than the tuner on my Samsung TV. The included RF remote is quick and responsive, but programing my Harmony remote has shown a little bit of lag with it's use. The included apps (Hulu, Amazon, etc) are slow to load and buffer as compared to my Roku units, but there is a convenience factor with Tivo One Pass which will keep track of shows that i am not able to get OTA as they are being added to one of my subscription services. Overall, the Roamio OTA is a competent option for those of us who don't want to spend a fortune on cable/satellite but still want the flexibility provided by a DVR.

I purchased two of the TIVO Roamio DVR's. They work great and both pick up local channels just fine and it has four tuners. I am able to transfer recordings from one DVR to the other with no trouble. Both have to be registered with TIVO on the same account to transfer (there is not a fee for this) and they both have to connected to your home network. I am able to stream videos from Amazon, Netflix, HULU and You Tube with ease. The remote control can be set up to control your television. It is a little pricey, however, the money you save by not paying for cable or satellite will be recouped in a few months. I gave four stars and not five because it takes over an hour for initial set up.

The tivo Roamio is awesome I can record up to 4 shows at once and help me organize my viewing of shows was a little tricky getting the tivo mini to work in my bedroom but once I got everything working .. it all works great and I would recommend to anyone looking for alternative to cable or satellite...also its nice to have apps like hulu and netflix built in

I Thoroughly enjoy this device and how it allows me to cut the cord from cable. Have a HD Antenna mounted on the roof. I am about 2.2 miles from the antenna array for the area, and all the expected channels come in very well. This device allows us to DVR our shows and watch them when we want. No additional costs (like cable or satellite) for subscriptions, and it connects to my WiFi for access to APPS and smart TV features.

I bought this unit to replace an aging single tuner digital recorder and really like it. It's great to have up to 4 tuners in a single box to record multiple shows at the same time. This unit records OTA channels (only) for free, so there are no additional monthly fees to pay. You can set up recording schedules from the iOS app without having to turn on the tv and use the recorder to input information. The commercial skip feature is great, too, and saves having to FF and REW skipping them while watching recorded shows.

After many years on FIOS based TV we finally had enough with the growing cost including a gigantic list of tax service add-ons. After looking at our viewing habits we discovered much of what we watch was digitally broadcasted over the air (OTA). Did some research and cut the cord. How refreshing ! The TiVo OTA box with the DVR function was the ticket to freedom. Put a relatively small antenna in the attic and we receive over 130 channels OTA. Set up was a breeze and the menu's are logical once you get to know how it works. The program guide is great and we can use the search function to find a show and set recording up to two weeks in advance as well as having regular series shows recorded automatically. The DVR has worked flawlessly. I run the TiVo's HDMI output through my surround sound amp so we get 5.1 decoding from all the major stations. (BTW, the TiVo DVR also records the sound signal so recorded playback is also 5.1 surround) . The included apps for Netflix and Amazon work great but you cannot record....who cares since it's mostly on-demand anyway. I have the TiVo box hard wired to our internet router (still using FIOS for that at 50mb/s) and steaming is glitch free. So far we are very happy and saving over $100 a month. :-)

Love my Tivo purchase it has done everything that we wanted plus more with no activation or monthly fees get one you will love it

I ditched cable and put an antenna in the attic. I wanted to be able to record shows and have a program guide and the Tivo Roamio does that and then some. The up-front cost is almost prohibitive but after setting it up and using it, I feel it's worth every penny! I love it!

Cut the cord but miss the DVR the TIVO works great and the commercial skip and guide are a real plus. Np monthly fee is a bonus.

We're really enjoying using this Tivo after switching to antenna TV. Having the DVR is great, also just having a guide makes TV watching so much better. The guide is not perfect. The remote and interface is very good. And the interface to amazon prime is seamless.

Took ordering 6 units to get 3 working units. Two did not power on at all. Definitely need to purchase extended warranty. Pleased with operation and ease of use. Delighted that I can record TV from antenna and zap through commercials - they even have a "SKIP" on some shows that you can push D button and it advances automatically past the commercials to the next part of the show. Love being able to watch what I want...when I want and not having to channel hop to find something.

I can record my favorite programs that play late at night. I use it with my indoor antenna and HDTV. Easy to use and set up.

Easy to set up and operate. Fan makes a small noise but not too bad. I set it to standby mode for energy savings. Unit does get a little warm but I use a glass trivet to elevate from wood cabinet. OTA model has free guide. It will take a few months to recoup the steep price but it is better than my cable set top box. Cutting the cord!
