There are more options/settings to explore, but initial setup is easy. The program guide is very nice. This weekend I will learn more about scheduling new program recording, turning some remote button sounds off, and different ways to skip during playback. Four tuners is going to be nice. Paired easily with my tv and sound system. Nice unit.

I bought the Tivo ota in order to be able to watch and record certain shows that do not come with my Hulu subscription and to be able to skip commercials. it turns out that the ability to skip commercials depends on the time of day and whether the agreement between Tivo and the broadcaster allows this. It is medium easy to set up, but the manual given in the box and the help on the Tivo website isn't great, so several of the excellent functions that it has really have to be researched on the web. All in all, it is fairly expensive for me since I cannot place my antenna in line of sight of the broadcaster, and so from time to time my picture isn't good enough to watch. This isn't Tivo's fault though. It's great to be able to record shows and watch later, but I think $399 is pretty high for what it does and one should make sure that the antenna-based picture is always high quality before purchasing.

If your looking to cut the cord or dump the dish, look no further. I had my doubts about getting rid of my Dish but after my billing skyrocketed I started looking for solutions. I found this Tivo Romaio with all in service which is service for the life of the equipment and it became obvious this was the way to go for us. In my area there are 42 channels that are in HD and free. If your a Syfi, Discovery, DIY or some other channel watcher like we are, there are options out there that you can buy into that will stream these channels to you. I'm not going to lie to you, it's a bit of a pain when you have to switch from one device to another. The savings we are enjoying is well worth the extra effort. To be honest, we were paying way to much to sit and watch TV for a couple hours an evening. This was the best solution for us and everyone will have to do a little research to find what is best for them. I can testify that this Tivo Roamio was the best product that I found that has very simple controls. It also came preloaded with Hulu, Netflix, and several others. We plan to expand by purchasing a Tivo Mini very soon.

This is my first DVR and I confess the learning curve is a bit steep. (Frankly, I really miss my VHS player.) It took me a week before I became proficient at operating the recorder. My major complaint is with the remote. The buttons are unbelievably small and my fingers are very large, so quite often I'll hit two or three at a time. Try finding the mute button. Good luck! It's there, but you have to look hard to find it. I set up recordings, then I have to delete the recordings, then I have to delete the recordings from the deleted recordings. So much work! Ugh! Yes, I can record up to four shows at once, though I rarely ever need than many recorded at once. The major drawback is the inability to save recordings long-term as was possible with tape, nor can I exchange product with anyone else as I could with tape. Such is progress...

The new TIVO Roamio offers enhanced features vs. it's previous model, and lifetime guide service. The remote is quite user-friendly, and its tuners (with a roof antenna) pick up 56 channels in our Bloomington, MN neighborhood. Combined with ROKU and Sling, it makes dinosaurs of cable and satellite services.

Very happy with this product as it has made cord cutting painless with the due to TV guide included with this machine. Not intuitive that this product cannot be used with mini to extend to other TVs nor can it be used with a tablet/smart phone to watch recordings. You need a streaming box to do this to do the later.

I got this Roamio OTA unit to replace my recently deceased Elgato Eyetv hybrid. The Roamio does a way better job, as now I can record or watch more than one show at a time, and it's also easier to use for non-technical people. The fact that includes a lifetime subscription to the Tivo service is the deal closer.

I am thrilled with the tivo ota. It allows me to receive 12 channels with my outside antenna. I have recorded 3 programs at the same time. I love the TV guide on the screen. It shows if the program is new or not. The one touch skip commercials is great. That is one of my favorite things about this tivo.

I've been using the Roamio for about a month now after cancelling my former TV service. Before I go any further, the picture/ reception is only as good as the antenna signal that goes into it- it will NOT improve bad reception. That said, this unit does everything the most advanced cable/satellite box I've seen will do- and more. What sold me on this model was there is NO subscription required- the TiVo service is included in the price. Setting the DVR is a snap and the One Pass feature makes searches a breeze- it finds a show/movie on broadcast and streaming service in a single search. I also love the Skip feature that allows you ( on recordings that support it ) to jump right over commercial breaks. Definitely a must have if you are going to cut the cord!

We have recently dropped satellite tv and this was a good choice to record our shows. We had used a TIVO DVR years ago and remembered how well it is designed. Easy to find shows and tells you where each tv show is being shown. Records many things at the same time and the little TIVO guy is cute!

This machine works well for recording OTA shows for later viewing. It is fairly simple to use and has features the competition did not appear to have on their unit.

I couldn't be happier with this dvr. Sets up easy, it's easy to use, and the commercial skip feature on prime time recorded shows is amazing and not found on other dvr's on the market. Also the tivo app has saved me so many times being able to set up a recording when I'm not home!

I bought this when we cut the cord. We hate watching commercials so needed something to record from over the air stations and man do I love this. This has joined the ranks of my must haves right along with my snowblower and my central air.

Since I cut the cable, the biggest item we missed was the DVR. The guide feature is a great improvement with the over the air antenna. When I purchased this, life is great again. Love being able to back up, record shows at anytime. Very happy with purchase.

I know there are others out there but none like this! The lifetime subscription pays for itself in about a year! The skip feature is better than any cable DVR I've had. I have been reluctant to ditch cable because the DVR. The upfront cost is a little steep but paying over $190 for cable and Internet a month.... I'm saving $130/mth by cutting. This pays for itself in less than 4 months of savings! You can get to your paid subscriptions too (amazon/Hulu/netflix). Want a show - search for it and it will tell you which ways to watch! I am very pleased. It does indeed take quite a long time for the initial set up.... About 1.5 hours for me. And one negative... For almost $400 it should come with an hdmi cable... It doesn't.

Got rid of cable missed having a she. Had this cpl years now very happy with it there pretty pricey had 300.00 service award from work and Amazon price match made it easier to justify buying nice interface dvr works great
