Customers regard the Roamio OTA 1TB DVR favorably for its ease of use, reliable DVR functionality, and excellent recording capabilities, including the OnePass season recording feature. Many appreciate the commercial skip function and the user-friendly program guide. However, some users experienced issues with fan noise and inconsistent streaming performance. A few also noted challenges with reception and the remote control.

I'm loving this TiVo. I love when you dvr something you can press 1 button during the commercial and it skips right back to the show. You don't have to watch commercials or waste time fast forwarding through them. I have no complaints!! It really is worth the money.

After having this Dvr for close to a year it no longer works. Tivo customer service is also terrible, you will get the run around with no resolution. I had the lifetime service. Don't spend the money on this one. Get the cheaper one

I’m so pleased with this product! We have no cable or internet, but connect it every few weeks to our hotspot phone on tmobile for TV guide data. It’s like having cable with all the features but no bill!

It's an amazing unit. The best thing since sliced bread. And you can also expand storage. Very ergonomic. Easy to use. It even figures out and records things you might like based upon what you already record. Had it 2.5 months already and still great!

I have had my Tivo for about 2 months now and I am mostly happy with the tivo. I have two complaints that are keeping me from giving it 5 stars. The first complaint is that the wireless tuner that is in the tivo is not that good. I only get 55 to 60% signal strength on it. So sometimes when I am streaming it will lag and freeze. If it is lagging and freezing enough I will have to switch over to my PS3 to finish watching my show. All of my other wireless devices get around 80% - 90% strength and work fine. My router is only 15 feet away from the tivo box. My 2nd complainant is that about a month after I got my tivo they made some changes to the guide service and I didn't have a guide and could not DVR anything for about 2 weeks.

We first purchased a TiVo in 2000 and quickly loved the menu options and ease of recording. But I hate monthly fees, so we purchased it with a lifetime subscription. Technology as it always does, ages and we stopped using. We were excited to purchase this OTA with the lifetime built in. Right out of the box it was amazing, so much more powerful than our first. The menu is intuitive and very user friendly. The only challenge is getting perfect reception from the HD antenna. The device I would have like to see future proof offering 4K watching. Too bad...

We recently cut our Dish and I was looking for something to use as a DVR. There was a few to choose from, ultimitely, I chose this one because it had the Netflix app on it. With that being said. We found the Netflix app actually runs horribly through our Tivo. So we've stuck with running it through our Roku. --This is why Tivo only gets 4 stars. Other than that, the guide has worked, the recordings have worked, the setup wasn't too bad--although I think they could do a better job at explaining things... The one thing you do need to look for in cutting-the-cord is to make sure you have reception with an antenna. If you can't get the channels you want through that, then its pointless to try to cut the cord! All -in- all, This was a good buy and it does what I need it to do!

I have been a TiVo user for over a decade and most versions of TiVo have been excellent DVR's. I would give this a 4 1/2 star rating if I could but I would like some improvements in their wishlist options, change the default from automaticaly record all to let the user make the decision when they set up the wishlist item so that stuff doesn't show up in your to do list. I have this OTA TiVo connected to a 50 mile antenna in my attic and I can get over 70 channels in the Cincinnati/Dayton Ohio area and almost 50 aren't on cable. The Roamio OTA has all the same apps as their cable versions

I have been looking for a modern day VCR for a couple of years now. There are several to choose from now. I picked the TIVO Roamio over the others, mainly because of the recently added free lifetime guild. It was hundreds of dollars just months ago. I used to have either Xfinity or DirecTv and the guild is way better with the tivo. Very logically laid out and easy to use. There are less channels of course but my new monthly bill of $0.00 makes me smile all the way to the bank. I'm saving $1000 a year or more. Awesome

Cut the cord but my wife wanted to record Dr Phil. Yea I know. LoL. Works great. Tivo keeps trying to talk me into swapping it for a “better” unit. They charge monthly. I like my Romeo

I got this so I could cut the cable cord ($150/mo) and it works pretty well. It does what is is supposed to do regarding working as a tuner and recording scheduled shows. I LOVE the commercial skip option on recorded shows. It works great. I'm currently using an indoor HDTV antenna and most of the local channels come in pretty clearly. They show a 55-75% (Austin, TX 9.5 miles from the towers) power which is fine for watching live TV. But in order for the recordings to work, the power level of the station should be 80+%. Most of my recordings are pixelated or don't work at all. I will have to install an external antenna to get this to work really well. Great for the price with lifetime free schedule access.

Great addition to my cord cutting plan. Done paying Comcast Xfinity monthly leasing equipment fees add all up might as well buy your own equipment, and saving all that Yearly money that was going to them.

I have just cut the cord but my daughter has had a TiVo for years and she suggested it. It is great no problems and it tapes all my favorites took me a minute to figure it out but user friendly. Highly recommend.

This box is much faster than my old one I was renting from my cable provider. I finally cut the cord and I'm just using a HD antenna. The setup process was a little tricky and long but after its all done and had my channel list setup correctly, it works great. has a fast interface skip commercial button is awesome but why too close to the "skip to end" button. Would be nice if they setup a default setting to always auto skip commercials or maybe prompt you when you start a show.
another plus, is that the HD channels over the antenna actually look clearer than over the cable

I have always loved TiVo from way back when and I still love TiVo. Is it perfect? No, but it's darn close! Flaws for me are setup time, it's like 3 hours+, and then some of the apps. But for it's primary purpose, that of a DVR for OTA, it's just amazing. In fact my Father in Law and Grandfather in Law both have one because of me. Oh and NO SUBSCRIPTION! We have one TiVo Mini and will add one soon. Thank you TiVo for making cord cutting amazing!

Finally decided to cut the cord - tired of paying so much for TV I don't watch. I looked at many reviews to find the best option to record Over the Air (OTA) programs since we rarely watch live programs and like to skip ads. This DVR does everything that I need: records programs, skips ads (need to wait for the next day if you don't want to manually fast forward) and even records suggested programs you might like if you want to give them a try later. Guide is easy to use, set up is quick (just need to hook to WiFi, enter TiVo code and scan for OTA channels. Had it for over a month and am very happy. No regrets on buying the TiVo Roamio OTA.
