Crisp, clear sound, would like to have an included audio jack adapter, but it's ok...I am using it for work zoom meetings, just got it so just trying it out, headphones are comfortable. I like the on ear phone controls.

Super comfortable and high quality sound, microphone picks up other sounds as well. USB plug and go. I used them for call center calls without any additional software or drivers needed. Totally worth every penny. Wish I could have had work reimburse me but this way I get to keep them.

Wow. That is what I must start off by saying with this review. I have tested no fewer than 5 headsets in the past 6 months, and this headset has no right sounding as good as it does for its price when compared to peers in the same price range. The surround sound 7.1 and an incredible amount of EQ customizability using the Roccat Swarm software is what makes this possible. I tested this headset in two facets: gameplay and music. For music, the expectation that people have for gaming headsets is often far too high. When R&D, materials, and programming have to go into creating a headset with a microphone and audio delivery, there has to be give and take at a given price for what quality of audio and mic you get. This headset delivers excellent audio for just standard music and audio processing. It skips the mistake many of its peers make of heavily emphasizing bass, and instead gives you a balanced audio experience out of the box. This can be tailored to user preference using the Roccat Swarm software, but I actually am surprised to find I like the audio I am getting right out of the box—with one exception being that I went into the settings and activated the surround 7.1 setting (it comes set to 2.0) and wow. Now for gameplay, any mic that lets you converse with teammates will do the job, so I wasn’t overly concerned with that. My only ding on the mic is I wish it had a foam pop filter covering the mic to minimize the puffs of air being delivered into the chat when talking. What I did focus on was its performance with one of my current favorite games: Hunt Showdown. Hunt is a game all about sound and listening for enemy footsteps, gunshots, movements etc. to give you supremacy in combat. It actually uses Binaural audio, incorporating directional audio signatures into the game play! In plain English, with the right headset like this one, you can localize footsteps etc. with great accuracy and ease, giving you a competitive edge. The right headset with this game gives you a competitive edge, and I did find that this headset when compared to my daily driver gaming headset proved to isolate and localize sounds with greater accuracy. As for comfort of the headset, this is highly subjective. One individual’s head shape, ergonomics preferences, etc. are going to very much from one to another. For me, this is about a 7 out of 10 for comfort. I have a smaller head for a man, and this barely fits snug enough to provide good seal of the earcups. I also am not that much of a fan of the headband and adjusting metal band being two separate pieces, I think it makes the headset look kind of cheap. But, at this price point, there had to be compromises and this is one that is acceptable to me. The earcups themselves are comfortable with the memory foam and do not cause issues in my gaming endurance. I only have a few knocks against this headset. The first is that the cord is USB only, no option for 3.5mm input/output. The second is that I far prefer in-line controls to the output volume, mic volume controls on the left earcup. Third is that the cord is not detachable from the headset. This means that in the unfortunate incident that your cat chews up the cord, or you vacuum it by accident (ask me how I know about both of these problems), you will have to replace the whole headset, not just get a new cord. Overall, I can highly recommend this headset. As part of the Roccat ecosystem (I also have the Vulkan TKL keyboard) it is a fine addition. For anyone seeking a reasonably priced, excellent headset with great audio and comfort, this is a great choice.

With a variety of headsets available from many trusted brands, I was anxious to get my hands on the ROCCAT 7.1 RGB PC gaming set to try. They state that they’re using some, I imagine, proprietary Turtle Beach audio tweaks to provide a superior listening environment while playing games. Included in the box you’ll find the ROCCAT headset with an attached USB A cord, a detachable microphone, and the appropriate guide/warranty cards. The ROCCAT headset is compatible with both PC and Mac, and will work in stereo mode as a plug and play headset. However, to take advantage of all this headset offers, you will need to install the ROCCAT SWARM software available on their website. The software will also prompt you to install the appropriate software update for the headset but is quick and painless. On the left earphone, on the back, you’ll find the appropriate button for mute of the mic which has an audible tone when pressed, and the volume wheels for both sound, and the mic monitoring. When adjusting the volume on the headset, you’ll see the volume adjusted on your OS. Keep that in mind if you have any other audio source playing, and want to individually control them using the mic mix on your OS. The sides have a light up ROCCAT Cat logo on the left, and the ROCCAT word logo on the right. The attached braided USB cable is also plenty long for most PC setup’s, whether you are close, or sit away from your desktop. This can be used with or without the included microphone, especially if you are streaming on a platform and have a more professional microphone set up. Once you have installed the software, you’ll find customizable EQ setting pre-sets, or you can customize the sound EQ to your preference. The Sample Rate can even be set as low as 16 bit/44100 Hz, or as high as 24 bit/96000 Hz range. There is an option to enable “Voice Clarity” which does a great job when listening to dialogue either on a podcast or in a game, followed by an audio clarity, and a bass eq setting with an adjustable scale. You will also find pre-set EQ settings for FPS, MMO, MOBA, and most other gaming scenarios, with profiles easily saved on the SWARM app for switching either with a press of the profile, or when an application is launched. The other settings found in the SWARM app are the Master Volume, Mic Monitoring, the Surround settings to enable 7.1, and a mic sample rate. There is even an additional feature to change your voice while speaking, such as Monster, Cartoon, or generic Male/Female voice changing; allowing you to mask your voice online. It’s a fun setting to play around with but opted not to continue using it since I was playing with familiar friends online. The 7.1 Surround settings has a “clarity and balanced” eq setting, with a simple test button to test the audio. The test feature didn’t really work well for the purpose of testing, as the surround channels all just blended together on the headset. I wasn’t able to differentiate rear channels or surround channels from left or right, but your results may vary. The 7.1 surround works well in games, such as FPS, but didn’t notice any real change while playing an MMO; in this case World of Warcraft. While I’m sure there are settings that can be tweaked a bit to really demonstrate the 7.1, I found myself rarely using it, as the audio sounded pretty great already. The ROCCAT is comfortable to wear, and easily adjusts when placed on your head. No need to fiddle with different settings on each earphone, just put it on and pull the earphones in place. It does a great job staying in place, and the memory foam, along with the light weight, make long gaming sessions comfortable. The mic monitoring allows for listening of yourself while speaking, and the “noise suppression” feature built into the SWARM app does a good job cutting out background noise. You will not notice much of a passive noise cancellation, so if you have something loud (such as a TV) on in the background you will easily hear it. The illumination settings are simple to adjust in the SWARM app, with included pre-sets that allow for RGB color customization for Color Cycle, Breathing, Heartbeat, or Fully Lit options. Where this really shines, is the AIMO setting. If you are lucky enough to have a compatible ROCCAT Vulcan keyboard, you will find the AIMO unified lighting system react to your gameplay and key presses. It is easily my favorite lighting setting, provided a unique light up sequence based on your use with the keyboard. Colors of the RGB lights appear to react to things happening on screen, and when pressing buttons on the Vulcan keyboard. I would highly recommend getting at least the keyboard to get the most of the AIMO feature as it is not a feature found on any other competitor lighting system. Overall, it is easy to recommend this headset for those looking to compliment their ROCCAT gaming accessories that utilize the AIMO lighting settings. The audio quality is clear, and the bass is responsive. You may or may not love the 7.1 audio implementation, however it does work with some gaming scenarios such as an FPS (Call of Duty Warzone is a good try). Don’t focus too much on the “test” built into the app, as it does not do the best job featuring the 7.1 audio. I found the Windows audio test was able to accomplish the test much better.

ROCCAT Elo 7.1 USB RGB PC Gaming Headset with Surround Sound, 50mm drivers & RGB lighting - Black offers amazing sound and comfort for all day gaming while ensuring the quality and looks that a real gamer needs. Boasting a 7.1 surround sound experience, a unique comfort band, and unparalleled quality, this headset will deliver upon that promise. I found this headset to be all of what it boasts to be and then some. My favorite aspect is the auto-adjusting headband. Most headsets are manually adjusted and often hurt after a short period of time; not with the ROCCAT Elo! Total comfort for extended periods - no adjustment needed! I loved the optional removable mic for when I am not gaming but want to listen to music while working. The only complaint I have is that the hard-wired cord often catches on my face (stubble) or my collar making scratching noise that is distracting. PROS - ROCCAT design and quality - AMAZING sound experience and depth throughout the range - Looks and feel are excellent - LED is just right, not too much, not too little - All-day comfort with auto-adjusting headband and earpads which are compatible with glasses - Great for gamers and/or audiophiles alike CONS - The hard-wire catches and rubs on face and clothing at times

Incredible sound, and I’ve have gone through over a dozen PC headsets in the last few years. What you hear when you put these ELO USB headphones on will amaze you! Just make sure to turn mic monitoring off, unless you prefer it on. The headphones will work right out the box with Windows 10, but you should absolutely download the Roccat Swarm software to manage your profiles, lighting, and update your firmware. Its lightweight and allows for some handy and common EQ presets, and also allows for custom tuning of both the headphone audio and microphone features. Mic clarity is amazing and really does remarkable noise cancellation (turn on in Swarm settings) without a foam padded swab thing on the end. Only thing is I wish the microphone was detachable from the device. I like the volume controls on the back of the left ear, especially separate game sound & voice channel controls. Mute button is located there as well. Cord is braided and very lengthy, nice thick gauge. Earcups fit my average to large ears well and are padded nice so they can be wiped, but also allow for airflow so you don't overheat. Fit is confident, but not tight, and light on the head/neck. 7.1 sound is almost like cheating if you’re a camper type, aka slow, corner waiting player - you can totally hear the direction, distance, and approach speed of your enemies.

Great headset, it was easy to setup as it uses a single usb cable to the PC. Once installed, I had to install their swarm software and after a couples of updates it was up and running. The software is great, intuitive and easy to use. You can change several settings like bit rate, surround sound or stereo, different equalizer settings and mic settings. Any combination you make, you can save to different pre sets for easy loading. The headset itself was very comfy, its a closed back one, so it will mute out any external sounds. It auto adjust to your head size (there is no slider or click when adjusting it just moves according to your preference and stays there, very ingenious). The sound was amazing, even in stereo. But when I enabled their virtual 7.1 it was amazing, sounded great, not like other virtual solutions that sound like you are under water. This one was very natural and not over done, bass was amazing. The first game I tried it with was Doom eternal: the ancient gods new DLC and it sounded AMAZING! They are very comfy, I'm not sure its real leather maybe leatherette but it feels great and I wear glasses and it was great. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for great 7.1 sound at a good price!

============================= >>>>> Bottom Line Up front: <<<<< ============================= The Roccat Elo 7.1 RGB Headset is arguably one of the best values in wired headsets on the market in my opinion. After a week of dedicated use for about 4-6 hours a day – I came away impressed with yet another Roccat product. Above average audio/sound/playback, excellent 7.1 surround stage, lightweight and sturdy build quality, along with reasonable headset comfort and a decent mic … all for less money than many other competitors competing in or around this price point. Marginally tight “clamp force” on my head, low earcup breathability, a “interesting” plastic sliding adjustment band, and somewhat wonky “Swarm” software hold the Elo 7.1 RGB headset back from being a grand slam. =============================================== >>>>> Detailed Observations after a regular usage: <<<<< =============================================== There are so many headsets out there … finding one that tick all right boxes for most, without breaking bank is truly monumental feat to achieve. Having only recently starting to use the Roccat Elo 7.1 headset over this past week, I had relatively low expectations given the fact that I normally use dedicated $300 headphones for musical playback on my PC, and $200 wireless gaming sets from my gaming sessions. As has been the case with several of Roccat products I have been using lately, boy was I pleasantly surprised how the Elo 7.1 headset performed … particularly at its $69.99 MSRP. In my humble opinion, the Elo 7.1 won’t be replacing a dedicated “audiophile grade” headset when it comes to musical playback and media consumption – but the 50mm neodymium drivers do a respectable job of delivering clear sound, with reasonable soundstage separation and clarity along with a punchy bass line to boot. That being said – I felt where the Elo 7.1 headset really excelled was in the “7.1” surround department. In that department I felt is was on par/equal with my older headset that was almost 4 times as much. In my usual rounds of Fortnite and other FPS games – being able to spatially pinpoint foot steps above/below/around me really immerse me in the game and help me have an edge. On the subject of comfort: overall, its pretty good - but has some room for improvement. The headset has an overall “large-ish” design (read bulky) – but that enabled Roccat to pack in more padding and comfort touches as a result. There are ample amounts of padding in the earcups themselves, providing a pretty good amount of cushion on your head and they appeared to have a very mild taper to their shape to help them fit better on your head as well (which is a nice touch). If you’re not a fan of tight or high “lamp force” style headsets – this is where you might start running into some issues. Compared to my other headsets, I definitely felt more force was being applied to my ear area comparatively speaking. On the bright side, this made them feel more secure and when I was using them for shorter durations of about 60 mins or less, they didn’t detract from whatever task I tackling at the time. I don’t know if I could say the same for an all-night gamming marathon though. Interestingly, I really liked the way the Elo “adjusted” on my head at first. Unlike traditional headsets that have sort of a “clicky” tab or ratcheting adjustment on the ear cup or external facing bad of the headset – the Elo 7.1 using an internal softer plastic slider that seems to do a better job of dynamically adjusting to my head ad I put them on. I have a minor concern that maybe after a long period of time or carelessness, that that plastic inner sliding band might become the single point of failure that might bring the headset down. Only time will tell, but I don’t think it’s going to be a major issue to be honest. Throughout the time I have spent with the Elo 7.1 headset, the mic has executed as promised. No drop out / not cut offs – and most of my friends couldn’t tell that I had switched to a different headset until I said something about it. I think that a big compliment again, considering the price of the Elo 7.1 headset. As with the other Roccat products I have been using lately, the Swarm software that provides added functionality through customizable EQ settings, lighting, and voice effects is a little on the clunky side. Speaking of RGB lighting – it is a little rudimentary on the Elo 7.1 – but it sure it bright! Gamers will no doubt rejoice that they can coordinate the lighting effect through Swarm with the other Roccat products. ========================= >>>>> Closing thoughts: <<<<< ========================= Between the above average sound quality for audio/media playback – excellent 7.1 spatial audio performance – and competitive price – its really hard to not recommend the Elo 7.1 Gamming RGB headset. For my head and comfort level though, I though there was more room for improvement to reduce the clamping pressure effect (maybe my giant head is part of the problem to be fair). I don’t mind my headset feeling large and bulky so I won’t hold that against the Elo 7.1 – especially when it clearly says “Gamming” in the product description. For the price, this head set is solid choice and tough to beat.

I was pleased with the headset itself when I first tried it on. It is very comfortable, feels sturdy, and does its job well. The SWARM app software that accompanies it though, is a headache. Here are my pros and cons: PROS - Extremely comfortable and lightweight - Speaker and mic are excellent - Surround sound is the absolute BEST function on this headset!! CONS - The connection is almost NEVER consistent between the headset and my PC (I called support and this is supposed to improve over time, we'll see) - The light on the headset seems to try to connect but I repeatedly have to unplug and replug the transmitter; I have done this nonstop since I got the headset - I learned later that the SWARM software controls your active microphone, not the headsets so just be aware of that before you get confused like I was Despite the buggyness of the software (which is optional and not a necessity) the headset is solid and does the job. I did say it once and I will say it again --- this is a super super comfortable headset and worth the purchase overall.

For those who are familiar with Turtle Beach company, ROCCAT was acquired by Turtle Beach back in 2019 and now it is part of the aforementioned company. A such, I expected the quality of sound right before unboxing it. The sound is impressive and a bunch of options to customize the sound via SWARM desktop software. 7.1 sound surround simulates the game as if it was real, every action and move can be heard clearly. Great headset at a reasonable price.

I have owned several headsets over the years, and this is by far one of the best ones I've had. However, just like everything, there are a few cons. Pros: - Very comfortable. I can wear these for 6 hours or longer. - Great audio quality. - Built-in mic monitoring keeps me from shouting into the mic. - Mic audio quality is excellent. Cons: - Software is a little bloated. Some features are simply not necessary. - Virtual 7.1 surround isn't the greatest. - Braided cable twists itself easily. I would highly recommend this headset to serious gamers or streamers.

I'm not sure where all the negative reviews come from. I have never had any issues with the roccat swarm software. Neither with this headset nor that vulcan aimo keyboard. Personally I love roccat products, and this headset is probably one of the best I've ever owned. Prefer it to my turtle beach stealth 700 headphones I use with my xbox. The surround sound is on point, gives a huge advantage when playing fps games like Warzone. Speaker and mic quality is awesome, and comfort is superb. Literally can wear these for hours without getting any sore spots. Definitely an A+ addition to my gaming set up

I have not used the speech functionality of the headset yet, but the sound quality is good to my ears. I love the equalizer, all the preset audio selections for differing game types. Easy to use, although, the "RGB", which, being an old fa*t; I can take or leave. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, I can not get it out of just cycling through the RGB colors, because there are other settings that you should be able to get it to preform. I, as I stated earlier am old. So, subtle nuances are lost on me. It's probably something simple and I'll figure it out someday. In conclusion, only having used Sony headsets before this one; yeah, I'd defiantly recommend this set; especially at the asking price. Oh, and they fit soooo good, and when they say if you have glasses don't worry. They actually mean it!

Pretty good headphones at a good price. I can definitely hear footsteps, or basically, gaming sounds in my surroundings...but sometimes, it misses some sounds in-game for some reason. Overall, these are great headphones for the best gaming experience. I don't really use the mic since I got an alternative mic for my stream but when I do use it, it is very useful and captures most of my input. Using the software app, it really does help out to set it to what kinds of presets you prefer in your gaming experience. Like FPS, RACING, BOOM BOOSTING, ETC.. There is also a setting to change different colors from the sides of the headphones which is pretty neat. The comfortability ain't bad until you are wearing it over 2 hrs but everybody is different. They have useful buttons on them to change volume and turn on/off for the mic. Again, overall, with the price, it is affordable and very reliable to use in gaming. My next headset in future will be logitechs for sure :D
