Comparison of the Kone Pro Air and Kone Pro

I initially picked up the Pro Air while it was on sale, and then the next week the Kone Pro went on sale and Best Buy sent me a $15 gift. Outside of the nearly $60 price difference, there is one key difference about the regular Kone Pro I do prefer and that's the weight. The Pro Air is by no means heavy, but the regular pro is about 8-9 grams lighter on my scale, which ends up being pretty noticeable to me. Another difference is the black coating is glossier picking up every smudge, and this probably a personal issues but made my hands sweat. I love wireless and had zero issues with it, but Roccat put a nice cable on the Pro and with a bungie you can't notice it. I'm going to stick it out with the Pro for those reasons, but I love this mouse and could have gone either way. Haven't had an ergo shape before, but I love the shape and larger size, while still being light weight. This mouse has become my new main.
I don't have any serious complaints about it, but I do think the clicks are kind of muted and not my favorite sounding. The switches are also not what I would consider a fast, and I would consider more tactile. I also wish the side grooves by the side buttons actually had some grip, and I ended up ordering my own grips to help with it. It's kind of good and bad, but the Swarm software isn't the most user friendly, but offers a lot customization.
I would recommend either of these mice, especially if you can get them on sale. Also, I would recommend the white edition for the coating.

Best Lightweight ergonomic mouse

Avid Valorant fps gamer here. I own a ton of gaming mouse. Having a light mouse is important for flicking and easier on the wrists. My previous main was the legendary Roccat Burst Core mouse. My wrists started to hurt after a few games and especially when speed aiming on aimlabs. I moved over to the razer viper which is my current main but kept clicking the right side buttons. I thought I'd give this a shot as it is on sale. I'll try to give a detail and comparison to similar ergonomic mouse.
The other ergonomic mouse include the coolermaster mm720, Kain 100/200, Logitech g403/703, razer basilisk. The Kone pro is lighter than all of these save for mm720. The mm720 just didn't have an accurate sensor. The other mice on the list were just too heavy for me, it felt like playing with a brick. I wish roccat would make a lightweight Kain 120 with optical switches.
PROS
The mice feet are better than 3rd party pads. They are perfectly rounded, glides like tiger arcs. They do not stick like corepads. Wish Roccat would sell these heat treated pads. They are supposed to be broken in with the heat. Love the fact they added an extra set in the box.
Comfortable to use, the thumb rest really helps you stabilize your mouse form. Your thumb will not drag on mouse pad. You can clawgrip and fingertip this mouse, although finger just feels better on ambidextrous mouse. The lightweight makes it possible to figertip. Not recommended but definitely doable. I switch between clawgrip and figertip depending on the range of my shot in game.
Software easy to use
Cable is better than Roccat burst core.
Accurate sensor, low click latency from optical switches
CONS
A little post travel on m1 and m2
Some other people had issues with scroll wheel scrolling backwards at times.
DPI button underneath- maybe done to lower the weight, not a deal breaker but I miss it from the burst core.
Conclusion-
It all about the lightweight comfort of this mouse. Seems like roccat make really original mouse designs, great engineering. They have really decent quality control. They are a little more pricier, but I've never regretted a purchase. Wait until they go on sale. They support their products with firmware updates. Please make a light weight Kain 300 with optical switches.
Would give 5 stars but price a little too high.

Used to the mouse for a couple of days and honestly the mouse has a really nice coating to it. Sort of similar to the Roccat Kone Pure Ultra. The cable on it is very flexible, identical to the Roccat Burst Pro. The shape is actually really nice but it does cramp my thumb a bit on extensive use due to how sharp the curve is. The heat treated feet glide smoothly on my Endgame Gear MPC450. The only thing I’m not a fan of are the clicks. They feel muted and cheap. Is it worth your $80? If the shape, feet, cable isn’t the issue. Go for it. It gets a 4/5 stars due to the muted clicks. (And yet the sidebuttons are nice and snappy. Don’t understand why the main buttons are so muted)

--- Installation---
This mouse is plug and play. There is no software to install this mouse. Just plug in the USB to a USB port and you are ready in seconds. No software is needed to change DPI, as it can all be done with the mouse itself.
--- FEATURES ---
Extremely light weighing 66 grams, 19K DPI, RGB lightning, tidal wheel pro/switch, flex cable, heat treated glides.
--- PERFORMANCE ---
I tried this game with several FPS games including Overwatch, Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and Hunt: Showdown. In all games, the mouse movement was quick and responsive. Being a wired mouse, I didn’t detect any lag at all. The mouse buttons are clicky, like a clicky keyboard. The wheel also has a sturdy feel which makes it easy to know when you’ve scrolled enough to switch to the next weapon.
--- EXPECTATIONS ---
To be honest, as soon as I unboxed the mouse and picked it up, my hand moved further up than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised by the weight on this mouse. It feels extremely light and it’s hard to describe with words, but you’ll notice it especially if you carry your old mouse and the ROCCAT back to back. What I didn’t expect was the way that you change DPI, lightning, and lift off distance for the scrolling wheel. To do any of that without software, you hold the profile button below the mouse and the left mouse button for three seconds. At that point, the mouse will enter configuration mode and by scrolling the wheel you activate the DPI sensitivity, pressing the side buttons changes the polling rate, and clicking the wheel affects lift-off distance. It will take some getting used to, but once you set your mouse you’ll be ready to go. There is still software available for this mouse if you prefer doing that instead. The software is a free download and allows you to set up 5 profiles plus further customization.
--- VALUE ---
This is a great investment for gamers who want the competitive edge with a light mouse that translates to quick movements because there’s less friction.
--- APPROVAL ---
If you want that competitive edge in your video games or just a smoother experience, definitely give this mouse a try. The lightness of it will surprise you.

I've tested the Roccat Kone Pro over the course of a few days, and it's now my mouse of choice. It's fast, has barely any weight, and it's Roccat brand which I've come to like (though their control software could use some optimization).
Out of the box, the Kone Pro feels good in the hand. It glides smoothly, and I don't detect any resistance. Its weight and ergonomical shape really contribute to what it's trying to achieve—comfortability. A heavier mouse means more inertia, so if you're about speed, I definitely suggest giving the Kone Pro a look, as it's moves fast and instantly.
The left and right buttons sound great. I don't know what it is, but I'm attracted to the sound. It's powerful and precise. The clicks also produce an instant response thanks to the optical Titan switches. This is great, again, if you rely on speed. I also enjoy the RGB coming through the honeycomb shell of the buttons. It's subtle yet vibrant.
The PhantomFlex cable lends to a nearly wireless experience. I chose the Kone Pro since it's wired for virtually zero delay, but I do enjoy the feel of being wireless. It's a welcome addition to the mouse when it comes to gaming, or any application really. I do have a bungee, but it may not be necessary with the cable.
The mouse wheel is made of aluminum, which helps keep the mouse light, but it does have a cheap feel. That said, I don't expect to encounter any negative occurrences. In fact I quite like the treading on it.
With all this said, I highly suggest downloading and installing the Roccat Swarm software if you haven't had any Roccat devices prior to this one, as you'll unlock feature customization.
Roccat is known for gaming, and so if you're looking for something to aid your game, look here first when it comes to speed.

Comfortable wired gaming mouse

I love the AIMO lighting, it just adds something to my desk to make it not boring, and this mouse fits nicely with the rest of my collection. In the software you can customize the lighting in quite a few ways and it syncs with the rest of your AIMO devices for a uniform pattern, if you want a pattern (you can also have a constant light or turn it off). I love the firm clicky buttons as well as the clicky scroll wheel. It is extremely responsive and has a customizable DPI setting. If you don’t have the software (highly recommend using the software) the DPI setting is a little hard to change, in the manual it will direct you on how to enter the menu and change settings using button combinations and the scroll wheel. I was able to adjust the DPI this way and the mouse soars across my larger monitor with ease. I really like the side button placement above the thumb with enough room to not accidently tap them when just using the mouse. I’ve had this problem with previous mice. The thumb indent is a little more pronounced as well and I find it more comfortable than my previous ROCCAT mouse. The cord is insanely flexible, If you want a wired mouse for your mobile game experience this would work pretty well for that as the cord feels like 550 Paracord than a data cable. Our new puppy got in the office and started chewing on the cord and yanking on it and it still works find so I would say it is pretty durable as well, which is a must for travel type items. Overall, this mouse has worked excellently for me.

Awesome (and light!) gaming mouse

First things first, this mouse is seriously light. I feel like I'm moving a small cloud around as I'm gaming. Weight-wise you wouldn't expect it to be that much different from a Zowie or such, but the lighter weight combined with those zero friction pads on the bottom makes this slicker than a shuffleboard table. I did notice that the pads (extra replacement set included) did have a small wrinkle in them but it was easily smoothed out. I would guess though that these pads are not going to last as long as your standard slick rubber skid pads you find on standard mice. The tradeoff may be worth it though to end up with something that glides so well.
Responsiveness was on par with any other gaming mouse I've enjoyed or chosen to keep and the lighting is bright and fun. Two color sections above the left and right mouse key suffuse the entire top section of the mouse and definitely give it a vivid splash of color. I would imagine this would be incredibly nice for those gaming streamers who have a camera focused on their mice hand to allow for watchers to see their movements. There's also definitely been a nod given to comfort as some office-level ergonomics are on display most noticeably along the thumb rest. Overall the mouse rests nicely in my hand and I'd say you'd probably want a mid-to-large palm length to make this comfortable. In smaller hands the length will probably cause the bottom of the palm to hover in the air versus rest comfortably.

REVIEW:
I did not expect much at first due to the light weight of the Kone Pro Ultralight Gaming Mouse. I get that Ultralight is in the name. But the more I used it and the SWARM software to adjust settings, the more I realized there was a lot under the covers here. With only 2 lights under left/right buttons, the Kone Pro is not as flashy as some other gaming mice, but it has “it” where it counts. Super high DPI and nearly infinite controls to determine exactly how you want the mouse to respond in any given situations. Others have already posted pictures of the settings screens, which is really the star of the show (the flexibility).
It has more of a “traditional” mouse shape with not as many ergonomic curves as some others. There is nothing wrong with this, just an observation in case it matters to you. One assumes if you are gaming with a mouse and keyboard the ergonomics is not necessarily at the top of your list. For every day business use, it might be and issue.
It is highly accurate and functional for gaming use, and even has built in macros and features to help you more accurately hit your targets.
I really like that you can control both horizontal as well as vertical speed. It makes sense to me (using an ultrawide monitor) that I don’t need to go as fast up/down as I do left/right to cover the same amount of screen real-estate. As I said, everything is infinitely programmable.
A nice surprise was extra mouse pads (they call it feet) in case you wear out your existing pads.
Another nice touch is the super soft and flexible wire. I never really thought about it before, but a heavy stiff mouse cord is probably slightly negatively impacting my gaming. You really can’t even tell this cord is attached. It is more like a thin soft rope than a cord.
The Mode Selector is on the bottom. Again, this is personal preference. It just means that you can’t change the mode mid game without turning the mouse upside down. On the plus side, you also don’t bump it by accident as you would if it was on the top.
Overall, I’m impressed with the ROCCAT - Kone Pro Wired Ultralight 19k DPI Optical Gaming Mouse. If I had some minor complaints, I would appreciate slightly more ergonomics to help center the hand and fingers. The side buttons feel a little cheap, and maybe they could use some tactile differentiation. One might want more flashier lighting, though this is nothing I care about. It is just either go all out, or not at all. You are not going to satisfy someone who likes a lot of bling. Though, as a I said, it very responsive and accurate in gaming situations.
PRO’s
- Very Lightweight
- Great Software
- Invisible Feeling Cord
- Extra Pads
SUMMARY / RECOMMENDATIONS
The ROCCAT - Kone Pro Wired Ultralight 19k DPI Optical Gaming Mouse with RGB Lighting is worth a close look and consideration. If you want a mouse built like a tank that weighs like a tank, then you might consider something else, but if you really want a highly capable / flexible and lightweight mouse more than you want bling, this thing rocks.

1 wired mouse.
1 Quick Start Guide
1 Extra set of Mouse Feet
The set-up
Downloaded the 164 MB zip file.
Installed swarm.exe and launched. I was immediately informed of an update to the file. I was wondering why I was not allowed to install an up-to-date version.
Installed the software for the ROCCAT KONE mouse.
The mouse slides easily on my mouse pad. There is a distinct click for both the left and right keys.
Through out the app I could not locate a setting to set-up the mouse for left-handed people. The shape of the Kone mouse fits nicely in my hand. The buttons on the side of the mouse stick out and I kept hitting them with my fingers. This would interfere with the gameplay. For right-handed people this would not be a problem, as your fingers are on the other side.
The Kone mouse is responsive and fast. I liked the feel and quickness while playing. According to the app this mouse works in conjunction with the ROCCAT Magma gaming keyboard.
I gave this mouse 4 stars because of the problems I had, being as I am lefthanded.

This is my 2nd time trying a Roccat mouse (my first being the Burst Pro) and I’m a bit disappointed with this model. I didn’t like the shape as much as I thought I would and the scroll wheel click is way too sensitive which is why I ultimately returned the mouse. My copy also had a lot of creaking so QC could be improved. If you can get a good copy though and enjoy the shape then it’s still a solid pickup, but it’s not for me.

This mouse is truly lightweight, buttery smooth, incredibly responsive, and includes the most amazing cable I have ever experienced! Seriously, the PhantomFlex cable honestly stole the show. Save your money and skip spending extra on a wireless mouse. The cable is so light and flexible that I forget it is there. And a wired connection is always better (no lag & saves on batteries).
I don't believe that the shape or the ergonomics are anything to write home about. The product description brags that the design is the result of "14 years of devoted craftsmanship", but this goes unnoticed as the mouse feels to be a very standard design. The design is proven and works well, but it doesn't feel as though it is forged by a master craftsman.
The mouse has a plethora of setting options and can be customized without any software, but honestly - this is a complete nightmare of holding multiple buttons then comparing LED colors to the features listed in the incredibly brief manual. There is absolutely no way that I will ever be able to remember how to change any specific setting. I completely recommend downloading the free software to set up the profile options.
Over all this is a good, light weight mouse that I would recommend to the average user. But, if you are truly concerned about ergonomics, you may want to try a different style as there may be a layout / position that you find more comfortable.

Both my daughter and I use the same computer for school and work. When I am not at home, she uses the computer to play her favorite games (Minecraft and Roblox). At times, I noticed her eying her brother’s gaming computer set up in the other room, and wonders why she can’t use a gaming mouse and/or keyboard. Well, enter the ROCCAT Kone Pro gaming mouse.
Just like the keyboard that we also picked up, the Kone Pro mouse is stunning to look at. The Arctic White looks amazing, matches well with our desktop, and the front tip of the mouse changes colors. It is extremely lightweight and feels great in the palm. I was amazed at how smooth this mouse was on both our mousepad and on the desk itself. Another pair of smooth plastic that attaches to the bottom of the mouse are included in the box.
In usage, this mouse is very precise and fast. I didn’t need to adjust our mouse settings at all as I really love fast and responsive accessories. My daughter equally was impressed when she used it in both gaming and school work. The scrolling wheel has a nice ridged feel so my finger didn’t slip too much when scrolling.
Again, my only noticeable con for this mouse is that it is wired. I am spoiled having gotten used to Bluetooth technology, but the wire is really long, nearly 5 feet in length.
Overall, we are really enjoying this Kone Mouse.

This mouse is smooth, light, and has a very quick response. It’s such a huge improvement over my older wireless gaming mouse. I am so glad I upgraded to this, and finally retired my other mouse.
It is a joy using this mouse, and not just for gaming. It glides across my desk with or without my mousepad. It is so light, it takes very little effort to move it. All the buttons are great, and have a very quick response. The RGB lights are really nice and I love that they are on the two main buttons.
After using it extensively on some extended gaming sessions in Fortnite, WoW, Apex, CoD, and some Minecraft, I can say this is an easy recommendation. It would be hard to go to any other mouse that doesn’t have this lightness and quick response. Using my traditional mouse at work feels so dated.
The ROCCAT software offers some extensive customization. You can change DPI, response, customize buttons, and of course change out how the RGB lights work. A nice bonus is the integration into my ROCCAT keyboard software. The software makes it easy to setup profiles for both my mouse and keyboard so I can have different setups depending on the game or app I am using.
This is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a quick, smooth, light mouse. Especially if you are in the market for a gaming mouse, but I am even thinking of picking up one for work.

This mouse is amazing, I am loving it and it is my new favorite mouse for competitive gaming. Its sooo light! Ive never had a mouse so light. I love the fact that you can see they shaved weight by having those hexagonal holes (that most lightweight mouses have now), however they were able to cover those holes with a super thin shine thru cover (I never wanted to have those open mouses with hexagonal holes due my environment being super dusty and with animal hair, would have been a pain to clean those mouses, but with this one, the problem is solved!).
They are using optical switches for the two mouse buttons and they feel great and super quick (light travels faster than anything), and they buttons have a nice thock on the click to them, almost like a mechanical keyboard.
You can download they swarm software to further customize lighting and assign functions to the buttons/macros.
The cable is braided and its super nice, incredibly soft and malleable and they also include an extra set of pft Teflon sliders in case the already installed ones get damaged I guess, it glides so easy over my mouse mat, and again, it is so light! I can believe how light it is; you will not be disappointed!

Being a computer guy for about 35 years I've used my fair share of various mice from all the major brands. This is my first Roccat mouse and I must say I'm pretty impressed. The mouse comes with an extra pair of mouse feet which is not something I've seen before. When you take the mouse out of the box it's very apparent this thing is light! As in extremely light. It has a really great feel to wrap your hand around. Not sure how well this would work though if you have very, very large hands but for me, someoen with average sized hands, it works quite well. The lights are really nice and you can customize them in the Swarm software if you choose to. I couldn't figure out how to change DPI without the software but there may be a way.
Using this in games it really works well. Yes it's wired and I know that may be off putting to some but the tail is very light and unobtrusive so much that you really don't even feel like you're tethered to anything, despite the fact that you are.
All in all this is a high quality, nice looking, ergonomic mouse with some really cool lighting that I would not hesitate to recommend.

This wired mouse is great. It does not need software to set with the different settings. Just hold down a few buttons and you are in program mode.
Precision is spot on. Gliding/Smoothness is nice too.
It is lightweight and easy to move around. Color is very nice. LED lights are nice. The honey comb pattern is nice.
Would recommend this mouse for high usage and ease of use.
