Rock Band will be the runaway hit this Holiday

Please Note that I was able to play this game before the official release during a demo session.
Graphics - 9/10
For what the game is, you are not buying this game to play for the graphics – though EA and Harmonix was to put a lot stuff onto one screen, and it works well. The words and the activators are clear and bright.
Sound – 10/10
The track list for this game, along with the original recordings and downloadable content, is a must have. You will get lost in involvement when playing this game. This is one of the best soundtracks in a game to date. The best addition is the sound of the instruments when you mess up – they just cut out.
Gameplay – 9/10
Though taking on new instruments Rock Band has taken this game this game down a new road, going to a new town and just nailed it. The drums, along with the fender are awesome. What is really impressive, but under published is the singing. This is a fun, yet interesting addition, to this platform.
Replay Value - 10/10
When you see the achievement list, it will make you achievement “gatherers” play this game again and again to get the full 1000/1000. Plus with the addition of online multiplayer, content downloads, and competitive play – it will hard not to play this game over and over. This is worth your $169.99 for the bundle this holiday season.
Overall - 10/10
This game is going to change the way developers take the gamer in the future. As an avid gamer, and a twenty-something, this game just pulled me in. The soundtrack, gameplay, singing, and peripherals all gel perfectly.
The new wireless “Fender” guitar is heavier, durable, and a real close replica to an original Fender. Playing this, you feel as if you have a real Strat in your hands. Playing Guitar for the last seven years, this instrument feels natural, and it is easy to orientate yourself to it. I must say that this is a nice controller, and I did not want to put it down.
The drums are well built, sturdy, and I have to say – just plain fun! The color coded drum heads, and kick pedal, feel good while playing them. Playing cross-handed style naturally, they set up the game to accommodate real drum playing style. This is the closest simulator I have felt. I would agree with the developers in saying that playing the drums on expert level would make you a better “real” drummer on a novice/intermediate level.
Singing – well… That is just plain fun. I must comment that the pitch recognizing, along with the tracks, takes this game to the next level.
I highly RECOMMEND that you get the bundle not only to save money, but to experience this game in entirety with your friends.

I would recommend this game over Guitar Hero. I have played both. If you are someone who really enjoys gaming, but also loves social interaction, this is a great game for you. With guitar hero you can only have people playing guitar. With Rock Band you can have a whole band (sorry if that seems obvious). This is a great party game. You don't even have to be good to enjoy it. And if playing is not your thing, you can still either laugh or marvel at your friends as they show off their skills (or lack there of). Even wives I know that don't typically play enjoy playing with their husbands. I also like that you can download new songs on xbox live. I think that they took all the things that were good about guitar hero and made it even better. If you are going to get the game, you should definitely buy the whole set (guitar, mic, and drums).

This game is made by the people who made Guitar Hero I and II and Karaoke Revolution I-present. They are the pioneers of video game music. I played the game while on campus during its stop on the bus tour thing and its amazing! The drums are quite a work out and I am a ham so I gave it a go on the singing, I like tapping the mic like a tamborine thing. The screen is not too crowded like you might expect for four music tracks. I also like that there will be a solo career mode for drums to practice before I go on XBox Live with it. I played Guitar Hero II with my brothers kids and they love it so although its bit pricey, I guess it is 4 games in one...so I'm definitely getting it.

Rock Band (Game Only)

The version of Rock band comes only with the game, now you cannot play the game without some sort of instrument. So if here’s the trick. If you have guitar hero II or III then you can use that guitar on this game, also the microphone from Karaoke Revolution would work on this game as well. If you have nothing you will have to buy a guitar, the drums, or a microphone in order to play it. I recommend if you want a whole band set to buy the Special edition that comes with 1 guitar, 1 drum set and a microphone. You would still need to buy an extra guitar, but it is much cheaper then buying everything separately. As for the game though it is great. There are a lot of different ways to play this game. You can do a solo tour on any instrument except the bass, but you can play any song you have unlocked on any instrument. Also there is online play where you can play with a whole band from different areas one song at a time, or you can play a score battle against the same instrument for who gets the higher score wins. There is a tug o war against the same instrument as well that you play a cord the other player does the next cord and so on. When you play a note your bar goes more your way and when they play one right more theirs. Also, there is the Band World Tour. You do have to have at least 2 instruments going for you to be able to play this and there are so many set lists you will get sick of some of the songs. It is a lot of fun though. You can download new music for the game and they release new songs every Tuesday to download (You do have to pay for the songs though). These don’t really get incorporated into the Band World tour except in the Random set lists and the make your own set lists and this is the only problem with the band world tour because there is not enough of the create or random ones. All in all I have been playing this game since I got it for Christmas last year and I am still having a blast playing it alone or with friends. I say if you’ve ever played an instrument game similar to this, or if you like music in general you should try this one out.

Awesome idea for a video game. Great for groups of friends or family. My girlfriend loves singing, while I rock the drum set or guitar. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a game they can play with other people. Instruments are easy to learn. Good selection of songs. More songs available, but you have to buy them. I like this game more than Guitar Hero, because theres more than one instrument and I love the selection of music. A +

I played the game on the demo at a local best buy and i loved it.
Microphone rating: 5/5:
The singing aspect of the game is amazing, one of the best singing games i've ever seen. i also love the way you can tap the microphone to use it as a percussion instrument. very realistic in my opinion.
Guitar/Bass rating: 5/5:
This has to be one of the games most innovative aspects. i mean the guitar is 3/4 the size of an actual fender, and feels almost as real as one too. also the guitars two sets of fret buttons give the guitar a more natural feel when playing solos. because, well, most solos have really high notes, and it doesn't make sense to play high notes on the low note section now does it? you can also use the Guitar Hero controller on Rock Band if you prefer.
Drumset rating: 5/5:
My personal favorite position to play. this is the first game that actually has a drumset you can play. the only other game i can think of that ever used drums is donkey konga, but that's not really a game...anyways most people say that this isn't an acurate replacement for real drums because it doesn't have cymbals. but the blue and yellow pads are the replacement cymbals. playing this without the bass drum pedal in-store was fun, but adding a bass drum will only improve the game even more and make it even more realistic.
Setlist: 5/5:
This game has songs ranging from tom sawyer to enter sandman. bands ranging from guns 'n' roses to iron maiden. this setlist will have you rocking till the neighbors are screaming their lungs out at you to turn the volume down.
All in all this game will make a great gift for a friend or family member this holiday season.

I loved this game. It is very fun and exciting and is great for get togethers and partys. At first most people are to shy to try it out or sing but next thing you know EVERYONE is playing. With all the different instruments, this game never gets old.

This game will be so sweet...you can get 3 other people and make a band that can rock out to some of the best songs ever...on all the instuments rather that just guitar and bass...you now have drums and the singing aspect put it there. The multiplayer will be great...the demo was sweet...the screen doesn't look cramped, the drums are too cool, everything about this game will rock. Not to mention that there will be a new CD and entire CD to download from Xbox Live every week for almost a year to expand the track list. Also not all the instuments are required if you only drums with nothing else you can do that on single player or only two people on drums. And the GH will work with this game so you can just get it and not have to worry about a whole new set of guitars since you already have them. GET THIS GAME!!!!

If you have friends nearby and some extra cash lying around, this is a must buy. Playing with friends is awesomely fun cuz you each enjoy different aspects of the game. You are also exposed to music u thought you might not like, but now are buying for your mp3 player. Also, the marketplace features wonderful tracks you can buy for the game. HOWEVER...........solo play gets kind of boring after a while and you have to play songs over and over on different stuff and might get bored of them. plus, some tracks, such as tom sawyer, are butchered by the game. OVERALL: not as good as all the hype said it would be, but it's a fun game and encourages social interaction. Get it. Well? GO! JUST GO. if you don't go in five seconds i'm chasing you. 1....2...there we go. BYE!

This game was the best investment I have made in a long time. I havn't beaten the campaign 100% yet, but it is still awesome. You can play on Xbox Live with friends or random people. The guitar works fine, so does the drumset (a little tricky) and the mic. I prefer the GH3 guitar, but they are both good. I suggest buying this game, even if you don't like role playing games. You will like it by the end.

I really love this game! It's so much fun because your friends can have a choice to play the guitar, drums, or sing. It gives everyone a chance to show off their talents. Plus, the songs are great!
The only technical problem I had was that the guitar's "star power" option when you lift it up quit working. But, I just had to send it back to get a new one. No big deal.
All together, this was a great buy. If you like Guitar Hero, you will LOVE Rock Band!!

Rock Band Rocks!

I purchased this after getting the Guitar Hero 3 bundle. On the 360, the GH3 guitar works great for playing songs in Rock Band. You do have to give up sound effects, and there are no lower fret buttons, but it's a great way to enjoy Rock Band without having to spend for the whole bundle.
Now, perhaps the most important part, the gameplay. Rock Band does an awesome job of "tiering" their songs so that songs in the first tier are very easy to play, and they get progressively harder as you progress up to tier 9. There are bonus songs in the game that you can play, and there are some gems in there (like Pleasure by Bang Camaro), but there's also some bonus songs that are not so good.
Rock Band totally dominates the competition when it comes to downloadable content. From single songs to song packs, to even full albums, they have it all. And virtually all of it is master tracks from the original artists.
Since getting this game, I have actually gone out and separately purchased the drums, and a USB mike, so I pretty much have the full experience available now.
If you want maximum bang for your guitar buck, purchase the bundle for GH3 and add-on this game. You'll have over 100 songs available, even before you dip your toe into the DLC.

First i will say, thank you for making this game to... well, whoever made it... :)
This game is fun for the whole family, even the less than gaming savy members. Now, remember though, that you need to at least get one instrument to play, like the drum set or guitar. If you want them all, go for the set, as its cheaper than buying them seperate.
It is easy to start this game for those who are not as quick with their fingers, just set the difficulty down on any of your favorite songs. You can also play a band world tour to unlock more popular songs. As well as that, you can connect online and use your live points for more and more songs, new songs added every week.
Overall, this is an excelent game, great for everyone, awesome for parties too!

A great combination of guitar hero, singstar, and ummmm drumming! You simply can't get sick of it. Near perfected gameplay. For all those telling you not to get it cuz u could play a real instrument...they clearly don't understand why we play these games. Either 1. we're too lazy to play a real instrument, 2. we're not coordinated enough to play a real instrument, or 3. we're addicted to rhythm games. Or idk tell me if u can think of more. Anway I happen to be all three, so it works out pretty well. Just if you like rhythm games, singing in the shower, air guitaring, or tapping on things, buy this game...or RB2 right now!!!

THIS IS A GREAT GAME, ALTHO THE GAME HAS SOME DOWNFALLS, AND SOME HIGH POINTS THE GAME IS OVERALL A GOOD GAME. I RECOMMEND USING A GUITAR HERO GUITAR OVER THE ROCKBAND GUITAR IF U HAVE ONE. OTHER THEN THE POORLY BUILT GUITAR TO THIS GAME, IT IS A GREAT GAME. THIS GAME IS ALOT OF FUN WHEN PLAYING WITH FRIENDS, THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE IS WHEN IT GETS DECENTLY FAR INTO THE GAME, THE DIFFICULTY FORCES U TO PLAY HARDER AND HARDER AS U GET INTO THE GAME. OTHER THEN THAT THIS IS A GREAT GAME FOR A FAMILY WITH MORE THEN 1 KID, OR A GROUP OF FRIENDS!

I'm totally addicted to this game. I never owned an XBox out of fear that I would never do anything else and my fear is being realized. But I don't care! My buddy had Guitar Hero and it was then that I decided to finally break down and buy a game system. Then Rock Band came along and it was a done deal. Everything for the most part is great. If I had two knocks on the game, it would be that the guitar in easy mode is much easier than Guitar Hero. Medium is harder than Guitar Hero's easy, but still playable for newbies. The drumming is hard, even on easy, but once you learn to play, it is easily the most satisfying part of the game, at least for me.
The only other knock I have is that the Solo Play part of Rock Band is not nearly as fun as creating a Band and playing with friends. There could be some more interactive parts of the Solo Play and using the created profiles in Solo Play in the Band Play should also be allowed. This would merge the experience a little better.
All in all, I love it. If you ever wanted to be in a band, but couldn't play an instrument...here's your chance to live the dream!

Even though this is just the disc, it is a perfect buy if you have had any of the guitar heros. This game can be beaten all the way through if you have 2 guitars already, so the other instruments aren't necessary for completion, (even though it is much more fun with 4 friends rockin the bass, guitar, drums, and mic)!

Awesome fun playing with friends or family. The guitar is more realistic than others and the drums can be challenging even in easy mode! I had to have the guitar replaced by the manufacturer because of problems, but the replacement works just fine. Tons of options to configure your band.
