Black level excellence extends to the Rebel base first seen in chapter seven, and HDR brings the teal-colored maps (or whatever they are) to life with a previously unseen intensity and balance. It's otherwise a visually bland scene but on UHD it's suddenly a rich, vibrant experience while maligning structural integrity. The scenes and clash on Jedha are beautiful, with Stormtrooper costumes boasting white depth and clarity well beyond Blu-ray while also capturing wear and scruff in close-up with tactile definition. The UHD handles everything within the movie's visual spectrum with fantastic faithfulness and explodes in the final act with beautiful natural greens and blue waters on Scarif, supported by intensely popping explosions on the surface and bold laser blasts above during the large-scale space battle, which is one of the most exciting scenes in any Star Wars film. Clarity maintains excellence for the duration, revealing intimate character details, costume lines, and numerous world accents with breathtaking clarity. The blockade runner interiors seen in the final few minutes dazzle with the same white balance goodness seen in the Revenge of the Sith UHD. Even the closing blue credits pop. There appear to be no encode hiccups or source-related hangups of note. The existing Blu-ray looks great, but this takes Rogue One to a whole different level.

Rogue One is a great entry to the Star Wars franchise and a better prequel to Episode 4: A New Hope. I would say do a double feature with this one and that one. Now for this Best Buy exclusive, I like it. I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t continue the trend of a single character on the SteelBook cover, mostly a villain, but what they went with is fine. Instead they have a nice image of a few Death Troopers on the beach with the Death Star in the back. Also I think it’s one of two ways to attain the Blu-Ray 3D version. So if you come across this I highly recommend the buy it instantly.

I didn't know what to expect going into this one but I left the theater absolutely blown away by how great this little Star Wars spin off played out. I won't give away anything but this movie had some twists you'll never see coming. Forest Whitaker plays a character named Sal Guerrero and immediately you just assume he is some sort of Italian/Mexican jedi hybrid, only to find out he's a dang cyborg with a beautiful singing voice. Never saw that one coming amirite? All the characters are great in this and there's no kooky dialect or typical Star Wars hi jinx. This tone and direction feels way more authentic and gritty. My fav character who is the comic relief of the film is another robot named K2SO. I screamed K2 Yesssss Hoe in the theater every time I saw him on the screen up until the point I was escorted out. I had to buy the film to see how it ended and I'm glad I did. I got this one on the May 4th sale and the 4K aspect is a game changer. If you like space wars and sci-fi stuff you'll love this movie. Pretty radical that a Star Wars movie that isn't based around Jedi's could pay off like this and I hope they stick to this formula in the future. Highly Recommend!

Better than The Last Jedi in my opinion. I like that they went back to the old Empire/Rebellion era. It was the Disney/Star Wars attempt at a gritty movie and they mostly pulled it off. It can always be more gritty, but it still had to appeal to the masses. The characters were good and fleshed out for the most part. The sad thing is that since this is a one-off story, the characters that seemed interesting will never be seen again. It is not the happy go luck romp that was The Force Awakens and it was not the mess that The Last Jedi was. It is definitely worth a rent if not a purchase.

A disney contrived tale of stolen death star plans

Story was excellent. Didn't start off feeling like star wars as there is no famous opening star wars scrawl. I liked how it didn't have the heroes survive, that they sacrificed thiemselves for the good of the rest, yet they succeeded, that happens in real life - much like true heroes on our lives (9-11 first responders, countless military men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, etc -God bless them all) What I didn't care for the movie was Disney appearently ignored some well established tales/events in print (comics and novels written for years prior) on how the Death Star plans were obtained. The original 1977 Star Wars movie suggested Alderaan was the initial test of the Death Star's power, but Rogue One rewrote that history. Overall though, these "Anthology" ie non-sequenced/episodic new Star Wars films (Solo included) are far better than Disney's continuing episodes ( TFA and the abomination of TLJ) The story line for R1 could've made a great ep3 if the TPM(ep1) didn't happen and the basic plots of ep2&3 were renamed ep1&2 respectively

Growing up with the Original Trilogy, this movie has become one of my all time favorites in the modern Star Wars era of films from Disney. A required watch prior to viewing A New Hope especially in it's highest 4K quality ever! Audio quality is amazing with Dolby Atmos. Just wish the 4K content included Dolby Vision instead of HDR10.

My husband is a huge fan of Star Wars; I also enjoy the movies and animations, so this was something we would need to get to complete our collection. In fact, we saw this at the movies and we loved it! I laughed, I cried, and I felt like the series was better understood with this movie. It was the side story that gets mentioned in the original trilogy, but here we get to see just how necessary this story is to the series as a whole. I would love if more side movies like this were done. I might bring in an even bigger audience. Give this movie a try. We enjoyed it!

Quality on my TV is outstanding. That's really what I was looking for (since I used this as a demo disk for my new setup). Also, digital copy is 4K, which is awesome. And integrates with MoviesAnywhere as well as all the connected providers. Oh, and this is the best star wars movie.

Personally, the new sequel trilogy has not cut it for me as it's disappointing to see the dark aspect of Star Wars erased by the heads at Disney, however, Rogue One presents a dark tone in which no matter how much hope the Rebel can withhold, you can never keep your guard down when it comes to the Empire. The ending has a scene that made me jump out of my chair in cheer because that's how top notch it was. Don't pick up The Force Awakens, don't pick up The Last Jedi. PICK UP ROGUE ONE.

Great movie for the Star Wars fan, looks awesome on 4K tv! Waited for the movie to go on sale at Bestbuy for the best price. Received a 2nd copy as a gift, and returned this one. Bestbuy return was pretty easy despite delays with mail service during this holiday time of year.

An absolutely fabulous movie, and a genuine treat as a prequel to the original Star Wars movie. Really fills in some gaps and has a perfect blend of humor and excitement. What a wonderful experience. And to see it in all it's 4K Dolby Atmos glory is an amzzingly fun experience. Highly recommended.

The quality of Rogue One in 4K is great. I wasn't sure if there would be a big difference over the blu ray, but I was pleased and impressed. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack was awesome. I will be watching it time and again. I love how it fits in to the Star Wars series.

The movie does skip around but all in all has good quality for a basic DVD. It doesn't skip very often however. I'm very happy with the purchase and the price I got it for. Purchased on may fourth at a very good price. May the fourth be with you.

The movie is nicely done, while staying strictly consistent with the Star Wars universe. Felicity Jones and Diego Luna are surprisingly engaging as Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor. Alan Tudyk provides both attitude and comic relief as the droid K2SO, reprogrammed, more or less, to work for the rebels. Highly recommended to Star Wars fans as an afternoon's entertainment. This DVD version does not have any extra features.

I have really enjoyed most of the Star Wars movies Disney has put out. Arguably the best of the new movies has been Rogue One. This film is pure fan service, and I love it for that. It had me sold at “see the battle for the plans of the original Death Star”. The entire sequence of events having been alluded to in the opening crawl of Star Wars. It’s not a perfect movie. It starts a bit slow and I still can’t rmember the character names for the life of me, but it ends as one of the best “war” movies we have seen in the Star Wars saga. I wish we had a 4K Release, but this Blu-Ray looks and sounds pretty good. The extras are enjoyable enough and, of course, you get a digital copy in HD for free. The digital copy often sells for $15 - $20 on its own.

I won't waste time with a commentary on the movie as that's not the point of this review. Suffice to say though, "Rogue One" is IMO the only truly good STAR WARS movie that's come out of the Disney era! As for the UHD edition, I played this on the newest 65" LG Nanocell display and the LG SN8YG 3.1.2 soundbar (with the rear speaker kit) and an XBOX One X. The picture was nothing short of BREATHTAKING!! The level of detail and the vibrant HDR makes this the best looking UHD disc I've watched so far. The Dolby Atmos sound was very good also, but at times dialogue sounded a bit muddled to me--to the point where I tweaked the channel sensitivities and adjusted the volume. Nothing maddening but still not quite what I'd expected. Regardless, just for the movie and picture quality, this is worth it!

Overall, Rogue One was on the best Star Wars movies of all time. An excellent script with stunning cinematography, crisp editing, superb special effects and competent acting, Rogue One has added significantly to the Star War's universe as the first Star Wars inspired Story. The Blu-Ray included several additional behind-the-scenes vignettes that added to the overall cinematic experience!!!
