I was shopping for new TV's as I had recently "cut the cords" on my cable & I'm cable free. I explained to the salesman I had one small TV in a small guest bedroom & he suggested buying this product instead of the Apple TV. Oh my goodness!. It was so easy to hook up & instantly turned my TV into a smart TV. It is small so I have it hidden behind the TV. Doesn't take up extra space nor deter from look of room. It is very easy to use. I go into my guest bedroom quite frequently now to just turn on this TV and use the ROKU. I am not a couch potato but I love the ability to listen to music

This player is very compact and functionally well designed. It is very easy to set up and connects rapidly. I have an older Roku and decided to try another brand for comparison when I wanted to add to my system. I purchased a competitor and was not at all satisfied. It was much slower and not as easy to get connected. I now have three Roku players and would highly recommend them. I have never had any issues with them other than children losing the remote..........Very good value for the money!

We use this to watch Netflix with wifi. Works well and reliably and has many more pay and free channels added all the time. We also use this in an RV with a hotspot device when there is no available tv service. Links to network news are helpful

I decided to drop cable and invest in a roku and a couple of streaming media subscriptions. The roku works like a charm and has so many channels that are free. It is amazing!

Cut my cable and went to Roku and loving it! Knock on wood, no connection issues and everything streams great. I pay for Netflix, Amazon and slingtv and then all the free channels I'm at no loss of shows/movies to watch

I bought this Roku media player so that I could subscribe to Netflix. I've had the Roku for a few months and I'm satisfied with the how the Roku works. It does what it's suppose to do. I'm able to watch movies and TV shows through Netflix. The Roku also has other options for other services including Hulu and some free channels. I don't get Hulu. I do like that the Roku has a YouTube app so you can watch YouTube videos on your TV. It also has a Pandora music app so you can listen to music. Pandora is free with ads or you can pay and lose the ads. If you're going to get a Roku, you should plan on subscribing to a service like Netflix or Hulu. There are some free apps and free channels, but you'll have a lot more viewing choices if you subscribe a service.

I would definitely recommend Ruko 1 if all you are looking for is on-line streaming of movies/TV channels. I had no problems with speed or lagging and Ruko practically set itself up - it's super easy. However, I returned 1 for the Ruko 3 because that model had more features to fit my needs. If you are a cable subscriber Ruko 3 will actually work the same as a cable box. No more extra cable box fees!

I purchased this since it has both analog and digital outputs. My intent was to use the device to wirelessly connect our old rear projection TV to Netflix (which works) and to our Plex media server (which works but not the way it should). To the last point, the Plex app can't send data over the analog output but suggests using Plex Classic. Unfortunately, I can't get the Plex Classic app to work. I can, however, use the Roku Media app to connect to my Plex media server and it is able to play our media files (mp3/mp4). That alone saved the Roku 1 from being returned.

While adding to my viewing options a lot of the freebie services have junk to watch. Amazon Prime at $99 a yr is a good investment with this because of all of their offerings. Pretty easy to setup and use.

My whole family are big Netflix users. We use Netflix rather then cable and the Roku is equipped with a Netflix channel so I decided to pick one up for an alternate Netflix viewing player. Until the Roku, we were streaming Netflix only from a Wii system and only in the living room. With the tiny size and easy connectors for the Roku, we were able to set one up in the bedroom as well. This made for nice bedtime movie viewing as well as gave the kids somewhere to snuggle up and watch cartoons in the morning without being in the middle of the house. As an added bonus, one of the free channels that comes with the Roku includes several children's cartoons so my youngest is over the moon as he can watch Curious George. The only downfall of this particular Roku is that it will only load the main Netflix account and does not seem to support the individual profiles for the families but I am fairly certain since the profiles are new that there will be an update soon to accommodate that. In addition, it is suggested you leave it on and plugged in at all times so it can keep updating when necessary. It says it draws less then a nightlight of energy though so I suppose it won't be that costly for the amount of convenience it provides. I plan on taking this with me to hotels,etc that offer free wi-fi (Please note this is a device that needs wi-fi signals to operate) as we can not only watch PBS and Netflix but there are even a few A & E shows on it for free as well so no more needing to scroll through tv guides to find something to watch. Roku also seems to support Hulu Plus so that will be something I look into subscribing to and getting soon as well. When you can take your shows with you everywhere you go (home, cottage, friend's house,etc) and be sure you have something you and the family want to watch during bad weather or just "down time" it's beyond convenient. Plan on picking up a couple more to put in guest rooms at home and the cottage.

We purchases a Roku a couple years ago. I like it so much I gave to my brother who stays in the bed with health issues. He can't sleep for watching Netflix through the Roku. He loves it....

The Roku 1 is a very simple streaming video device. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it is perfect for what I want to do. There are hundreds of "channels" available through the device--many free, some subscription or pay as you go. It is very easy to set up and navigate, although you do have to "play around a bit" to find all the options. The Roku is a great choice for someone who is having trouble streaming from their phone or tablet to a "stick." The Roku is a stand-alone device that only needs a wi-fi Internet connection.

Bought this for my 14 year old granddaughter to use on an older TV in her bedroom. She said it was easy to set up and easy to understand operationally. Bit slow but is good for older TV.

I bought this to watch Netflix on and it works great. Price was good too. It is not very big, which is a plus. Great picture and lots of other channels besides Netflix you can watch.

Works great on home wireless networks. Easy to setup and receives the signals almost anywhere in ones home. For streaming videos it is one of the best attachments out there to buy.

Does exactly what I want it to! Works great for streaming Netflix as well as live TV (with conjunction with my MediaCom) I like that is compatible with older TV's!

This is my 3rd Roku which I purchased for the third bedroom. Very easy to set up and very easy to use. No complaints at all it works just as well as my fancier Roku.

Very pleased with Roku 1. No problem connecting and very easy to use. The Best Buy folks explained to me why it sounded like the best item for my needs and it was!

Works as advertised. No problem with quick start up. Had a competitor product first that simply didn't work for whatever technical reason. Roku instantly made my still well functioning plasma 5 yr old TV a "smart" TV and allowed me to access things that were problematic to access before. Is it perfect in terms of what I can watch? No. But then no such product is as best I can tell. But it does provide me with a lot of options and capability. I am very pleased thus far.

The Roku box was easy to set up and worked as it should with no hassels. With a subscription to Amazon and Acorn TV we are watching what we want when we want.
