I've have both a Sony Blu Ray Player that can stream and an Apple TV. Both work fine, but I wanted additional streaming options that neither currently provide. The Roku 2 gives an excellent number of "channels" for streaming and the performance has been very good. It gives great value for the money.

Was super easy to setup and really easy to navigate. It is super tiny so fits nicely right under the TV. Only downside is the remote is so tiny so we lose it frequently. :)

This updated Roku-2 is claimed to be fast as the Roku-3 . Coming from an apple TV, I find the interface to be a bit old-fashioned. However, it has got all 'channels' on it - YouTube, Amazon Instant Video, NetFlix, Hulu Plus, Google Play, HBO GO , Hulu Plus, Vudu , ShowTime and tons other and with the Universal Search, it will pretty much pay for itself in time. If in doubt, buy this one.

Really like the Roku2, ROKU is now our primary source of watching programs on our television, we have cancelled our satellite subscription. We had our satellite subscription with Direct TV for over 20 years and we don't miss it.. The Roku is very easy to use and works with all of our tvs.

I got the roku 2 after being disappointed by the chrome cast. I am impressed by the number of free channels. beware unless you have a paid subscription most of the channels only show really old movies. I have Hulu and Netflix. The picture quality is much better than the what I had with cable.

Initial setup very easy with simple to follow prompts. Fine tuning channels and favorites takes a little playing around, but the entire unit was ready and personalized within about an hour. Do NOT recommend their "stick" version. (like a flash drive) Nothing but problems with that one, and on-line comments for it are all negative. This Roku 2 was a much superior product.

This Roku has been easy to install and learn all about streaming devices. I can easily go back and forth between cable and Roku. I especially like that there are so many options once you learn a bit about how it works.

Was torn between Chromecast, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, and Roku. Ended up going with Roku. Super fast load, great smart phone app/interface, and the biggest library of channels. Only drawback is remote has to be line of sight...but not a problem if you use the smart phone app.

It would get five stars if it was easier to navigate the Netflix screen with the remote. I guess others must sit there with tablets while they watch. Better programs than all the sports on cable. I got this for a friend and he's cut back on the cable package but of course they raise the price on everything else. The game of monopolies hopefully fading. Or transforming?

First, this Roku was easy to setup and get started using. And my streaming choices are so many more than I imagined. I have had several smart TVs, streaming Western Digital, and even smart DVD. This Roku allows me access to pretty much anything I could get on any computer.

It was easy to set-up! And I'm happy with the overall ease of use!

Needed this for the in laws to access foreign language TV w/o needing to buy any cable packages. As long as you have reliable internet access, this works fairly well. At times, the connection gets a little glitchy, but overall, it works fairly well. The in laws are happy, that's what counts the most as they are elderly and can't handle complex remote controls.

Does not freeze like my old Bluray. Uses very little energy and has a small footprint so it fits anywhere. It does run hot so you may want to put it in a place where the air can circulate around it. You're going to love all the streaming channels available on this device.

Got the new Roku 2 when my Samsung BluRay stopped streaming netflix. Roku2 streaming is super fast. Never experienced a single drop or buffering issue. Very pleased with it! Can't say the same with the remote as it is extremely directional and sometimes frustrating to get the Roku2 to recognize key presses. I specifically went for Roku 2 over Roku 3 after reading posts that Roku creates its own WiFi hotspot to communicate with the remote. Thought I won't have this issue as Roku 2 remote uses IR instead of WiFi Direct to connect to the remote. However Roku 2 WiFi hot spot is still present (checked with WiFi Analyzer). Technical support checked with Roku and confirmed it cannot be turned off (maybe because you can use it with your smartphone???). If I knew I probably would have gotten the Roku3, mainly for the remote issue. Cannot exchange it now as it is beyond that period. So disappointed with remote. I will be happy if Roku will send me an exchange Roku3:-).

I bought this for a relative who wanted to stream Netflix on her TV. I have been using the same device for several years and find it easy to set up and easier to use. The search feature is very helpful. It anticipates what you are looking for as you type in more letters. Once you see what your searching for listed, you can easily scroll over to select it.

Dropped my very expensive satellite dish for this little box. Wish I would have done it years ago. Great picture quality. Ease of use. The only concern I have is some movies do not fill the entire screen on my excellent Samsung TV which I also bought at Best Buy.

I own a Roku 3, a Roku Stick and the original Roku. We needed to replace our Roku 1 for my daughters room, and was debating on the Roku 3 and Roku 2. We opted for the Roku 2 and were pleasantly surprised to learn that is works with the Roku 3 remote, so you can hide the Roku 2 behind the TV and we can also use voice searching and play games. Of course the Roku 2 comes with the IR remote, but the Roku 3 remote will work with it. We prob don't use the Roku 3 to it's full potential, but have found no differences between the Roku 2 and 3 now that we paired our extra Roku 3 remote with the Roku 2.

I love it because it allows me to watch Live TV through the app. I have been recommending it to friends and family. It works great with standard internet service.

This is exactly what it says it is and works great. Hooked up to my wifi no issue, streams incredibly fast, has a good selection of channels to choose and has given me zero problems. My 60+ yo mom has the roku 3(with great features I didn't necessarily need, but would enjoy) and even she has no issues figuring it all out most of the time.
