The Roku works great. It sets up in minutes and does exactly what you'd expect.

OK, not bad but not great. Time Warner's app for use on ROKU is quirky, and Comcast has not made an app for it, so no HBO or Showtime availability when connected to Comcast internet.

The advertisement implies that you can use it for watching programs for free and save money over cable
You will need subscription or pay roku for almost everything. This may be used as providing smart tv option to a non smart tv.
I was looking for a good alternative to Fios where i can watch free live tv or hook up to my Fios account and save monthly extra cable box charges

I purchased the Roku LT for a Christmas Present for my family. I wanted to get a streaming player mostly for Netflix, but found later there's so much more. There are channels for kids, sports, cooking. There's a lot of content and I can't even count how many there are and the list grows what seems daily. The interface is simple, up, down, left, right, click. Older users can easily navigate the menus. This model is the "lowest" model, but at about 50 dollars, it's a no brainer. I think the higher models have more features, such as an Ethernet port or a better interface, but that's for an extra 20-50 dollars. I didn't need all the bells and whistles, just the content. Setup was a snap, just plug it in. You'll need to create an account to set up your channel list and log in all your information for Netflix or Pandora. But after that, that's all. I think it's better than the AppleTV, which doesn't have as much content. The Roku really shines with how much is out there and what it can bring into your TV.

Set up just the same a my roku xs and it would not connect, while the xs worked right away. the attempt to force you to provide a credit card number just to install brings comments to my mind that surely cannot be printed here. I will look to other products in the future even though the xs functionality is quite good. shame.

wireless tech obsolete. Continually dropped connection. Telephone support was to an ignorant script monkey in an overseas call center. Better support was found in online forums.

The Roku Lt is a great product. I have purchased two from Best Buy. One was for an HD TV and one was for an older Analog SD TV. My wireless router is downstairs by my HD TV, but I have had no issues on the upstairs TV that is further from the router. I had no problem with set up. My main complaint is having to provide credit card info even if you are already a Netflicks subscriber. The Roku Lt works as expected, but the credit card requirement is definitely a minus on buying this device. Also, tech support, if you need it, is not so good and outsourced to another country (India?)

The setup was simple and it connected with my wireless easily. By contrast my son had to troubleshoot long distance my blu-ray set up as it asked for all sorts of information I didn't know how to access. With Roku you need your log on information for the content providers you subscribe to but that was easy to set up also. This has much better content than the apple TV except that the Apple TV does iPad mirroring, so I have both. Netflix works great on my TV.

Perfect streaming device for 720p TVs

What can I say? This little device is hard to beat at $50. If you don't have a 1080p HDTV, this is the only streaming device you need. It's cheap, it's reliable, and it's fool proof. This is my 2nd Roku device, and I will continue to buy them.

Skip the LT and upgrade to Roku 2 if you have HDTV

After purchasing a different streaming media player which was on sale and having issues with it I returned it for a Roku. After purchasing in store I brought the unit home hooked it up and within just a few minutes I had subsribed to several channels and was watching FREE MOVIES! I linked the unit to my Netflix account and was dissatisfied with the quality. I then did a whole lot of research on the little box and was very surprised at what I found. First let me say this box is great for a Standard Definition TV and most programs work fine on the HD TV as well. Many channels are crystal clear and look great and strem great. However Netflix comes through at standard definition (even though the same movie plays fine over other competing devices, Blu ray player, Xbox 360, Computer and PS3). Looking into the technical forums, it loks like the Roku LT is NOT a Roku 2 device. I will be returning the item and moving up to a Roku 2 and further testing Netflix. As far as connecting to an encrypted network, wi-fi connectivity, and ease of use the unit is great. Remote is nice quality and much better than many other streaming players. Also you must have a Wi-fi router to use. One interesting feature is that this unit offers more RAM that the next step up (The Roku 2 HD which sells for $59.95). Bottom line =
If you have a SD tv - Buy this one
If you have an HD TV and don't care about games - Buy the Roku XD
If you want to play Angry Birds, Spend the $99 on the XDS.

the best way to smarten up TVs. 2nd roku in our home (roku1, now LT model ). no difference in the 1's 1080p vs LT's 720p resolution. have almost one full year w/roku1(only problem was with remote control malfunctioning; cus.t serv. contactetd and quickly was shipped replacement control no charge even though was beyond 90 standard warranty!!). decided to add a 2nd roku to our home. rokus' better now that updated firmware and Youtube is available. lots of "channels" to choose from, some popular some obscure. great to find the Xtra private channels, something for everyone in household to watch. really like the HDMI along w/SD outputs, have this connected to DVR and able to record most content. really happy with ROKU get 1 n be happy with it. BTW I was glad to be shipped the newer 2700r LT model over the previous generation 2450d LT as pictured #no hardware differences, contacted customer service to verify, roku chat customer service is a +)

Bought this as a gift for my Mom. VERY easy to set up, just plug it in like a game system. It is independent of any cable or satellite already hooked up to the tv, which is what made the set up very easy. A couple clicks here and there and connecting to the internet and everything is set! She uses it for her Netflix account. She also has an old fashion tv and it works just as well. Perfect Xmas present!

I purchased this item to be able to watch Netflix and use Pandora from time to time. It is such an easy product to set up as well to use. As long as you have a fast internet connection you will be good to go!
If you want HD upgrade to the other ROKU choices but if you dont really care like me this is GREAT!!!!!
