Roku is the way to go!

After looking at several different options including the Amazon Fire stick and other Roku devices, I decided on this particular item. I was really interested in getting an app called Philo TV and knew it would work with this particular model. After reading other people's reviews I wanted to give Roku or shot and see about cancelling my 20-year commitment to Dish. Turns out the device is extremely easy to use and set up. I have a smart TV, but it is no longer supporting installations of other apps because it's a few years old. Roku updates itself regularly so this won't be a problem. Give it a try, you won't be sorry. I also had to contact their customer service with a question and they stayed on the line and assisted me 100%.

Awesome product I bought 2 Roku sticks the regular 1 for my bedroom TV, then the plus for my living room 4k TV. I got direct TV now which u can stream over Roku stick. $20mo and get all the channels I watch anyways. You will NOT be disappointed with this purchase. Also has Google play, vevo, Hulu and most that u want to download

I upgrade this device from an older model (about 5 years old) mainly for the ability to get the You Tube TV app, which wasn't available on the older Stick.. But wow, this new device is slick! Much faster than the older model and has all the updated apps. Plus the Roku remote controls the power and volume of my TV. Highly recommended.

Purchased to use with new 1080p projector and it works great. Several apps available that load up quick. Easy to set-up all the apps. Needs a WiFi connection. I watch Netflix, MLB TV, Hulu, Xfinity,... Like the Netflix button right on the remote. Great price for everything it does. Highly recommend it.

These are the best bang for buck media streamers on the market. Solid Roku interface, operates the tv now, and is super small.

I debated for some time "cutting the cable" and, based on my son's good experience with Roku-streaming and the fact that my cable provider raised prices yet-again, I thought "now's the time". The Roku stick & remote are so easy to install and connect. It helps to have your cell phone or laptop at-the-ready and--thusly-equipped--you'll be streaming in short order. I have one "smart" TV (which connects via WiFi) and two older TVs which are connected via Roku streaming sticks. I could not be more pleased with the ease-of-installation and navigation of all the media choices that come with Roku. I will soon be purchasing the Roku model that comes with RCA cabling for and older TV in our basement family room that does not have a USB port. Roku seems to offer a model to meet all types of connectivity. It is a quality product at a fair price (and 'streaming' is easy) I don't miss my cable.

If your thinking of buying the cheaper Essential model...DON"T! For one simple reason, this Roku Stick has built in auto-learn functionality for controlling the power on/off and volume function of your TV! If you have a soundbar, may be able to trick it to do that code, but its typically different codes for those products. CANNOT change inputs, but still very convenient if you switch inputs often. Back story...I love the Roku platform. I know if I love it, why don't I marry it well, I didn't get in the ground floor when Roku went public and so yeah...should have put a ring on it! All I know is streaming, never had cable (unless it was cheaper to bundle, and never watched...hate commercials), the Roku is unrivaled...yes UNRIVALED!! No other platform offers the amount of content both free and paid. They don't get caught it in disputes Google/Amazon/Vudu and

I have had several streaming devices from a variety of companies and I have to admit that I like the Roku streaming stick the best. It has the best selection of Apps/Channels and it performs flawlessly. I was also able to power it through the USB on the back of my TV so no wires show. Great addition to my flatscreen setup.

    Saving Money From Charter Spectrum

You read it right! We learned (from Spectrum) that ROKU was the only device where you could download the Spectrum App and get the same channel lineup you get when you use their cable boxes. HUH?? We were paying $8 per month to use Spectrum's boxes. We tried it and found it to be true. I'm pretty sure you must have high-speed Internet through Spectrum for their App to work. So, we tried it on the first TV and sure enough, the same TV menu as we had with the cable boxes, including local channels. The biggest difference is, with the ROKU stick, you have to scroll through the channel menu since there is no number pad on the ROKU remote. Other than that, the on-screen menus are basically the same. This model ROKU Streaming Stick also controls your TV's ON/OFF and Volume controls, so you don't need your TV's original remote. Not only have we eliminated paying for cable boxes, ROKU has additional Apps that can be installed that give you free TV programs and movies. We're so happy with ROKU that we've got 3 TCL ROKU TV's and 4 ROKU Streaming Sticks on other TV's.

Our first Roku stick was OK. This one (3800R) is faster and smoother. This model is in limited supply now. The newer one-3800RW ( I Have one of those too) is able to stream 4K if you need that. The remote will pair to raise or lower volume. The voice feature does well to move from app to app. But, NO mute button!

We decided to get rid of our cable TV. This remote works really well with our older (non-smart) TVs. We use it to access Prime and Sling. It's very easy to set up and very easy to use. I appreciate the on/off button and the volume switch on the side. I would recommend Roku for anyone who wants rid of cable.

Cutting the cord as satellite has become too expensive. Decided to go with the Youtube TV streaming service as something easy for my wife to operate. I like that the Roku remote can be used to turn the TV on and off and adjust the volume. Love all of the different Roku channels available as well. Great deal for $39!

The Roku device works well as an option to cut the cable or satellite. It has a feature to sync remote to tv for volume and power so you only need 1 remote. For some reason ours seems to suck batteries even if it is not being used. Not sure why that is happening. But overall it is a good product.

    • Brand response from Roku Team
      Posted .

Hello, we appreciate your feedback and we're here to help. Please be aware that if you are using private listening, it will typically drain the battery on your remote faster than when not being used.

If you are not using private listening with your remote and are still experiencing issues with battery drain, we'd like to recommend an alternative power solution that may help—if the USB cable from your Streaming Stick is currently connected to the USB port on your TV, please connect the USB cable directly to a wall outlet or power strip.

Additionally, please check for the latest update under your Settings menu as our engineers believe that this has been resolved in our recent release. If you continue having trouble, don't hesitate to connect with a member of our support team directly so that we can assist. Get started at support.roku.com/contactus.
