So I was very happy with the Roku Stick but there is a major flaw with the remotes programming. My remote was eating a set of batteries in 3-4 days. I contacted Roku and they went through all the troubleshooting steps with me and each time they determined the remote was the problem and sent me a new one only to have the same thing happen. After my 3rd remote did the same thing I decided to take matters into my own hands instead of using Roku Techs. who only knew to read from steps on a screen. If you buy one of these don't plug your Roku Stick's power into the USB on your TV if that USB powers down when you turn the TV off. Your remote will lose signal to the stick and start scanning until it finds the stick the next time your TV comes on thus draining a lot of battery life every time your TV is off. Glad I didn't throw the old remotes away because now I have plenty of backups since their Tech Department simply threw new parts at the problem. Plugging into the wall will make sure power stays connected to your stick and your remote will not continue to search. Other than that, it's a great unit. I would still recommend this because when you get it working correctly, it is a great unit.

the remote is not very user friendly. I love the Roku because my TV is an older TV that is not a fancy smart TV but it works just fine, so instead of dropping a lot of money for a new TV, the nice man at Best Buy helped me find the perfect solution. He explained the difference between the Roku and the Firestick and I am happy I chose the Roku. It is fast and does not bother me with Amazon ads like the Firestick. However, the remote is not very large which makes it not very user friendly, but I am getting used to it the longer I use it.

This is my first experience with a streaming device and I'm not disappointed. Let me say I'm a 'baby boomer' and have had cable for the last 18 years. I wanted to try this as an alternative to my high cable bills. Set-up was pretty easy and took about 15 minutes. I really like the fact that I could turn an older non-smart tv into a smart tv (one of my older tv's is late 2000s). I love the Roku's portability. I took my Roku to my son's house and easily set it up on his tv. Comcast is my cable provider, and Roku has the Xfinity streaming app. I am paying a monthly fee for the little black top cable boxes. The streaming app works well - picture is great. This is a great alternative to the small cable boxes (and paying the monthly fee!) I will recoup the cost of the Roku in a few months.

I bought this mainly for YouTube, which it handles great, but I was pleasantly surprised at all the other media I can access now. My 'Smart' Samsung TV got dumber after Google dropped flash from YouTube and I also lost Vimeo before I bought this Roku stick. Now I have that and a lot more. Fairly easy hookup and clear streaming media. Two issues. I often have to cycle thru the 'network connection' to enable streaming. The Home page comes up, but after using the TV without Roku, it forgets the connection. A minor annoyance since it takes only a few seconds to reconnect. The other thing is the stick runs very HOT. You want to have plenty of air circulation around this. Maybe Roku needs to think about a finned heat sink or put it in a pack with a tiny fan. Even with the TV off, the Roku stick is very warm.

This is a great price and still great quality picture. The set-up is also super easy. The remote control works great and there are lots of channels to choose from. This replaced an old AppleTV that died and I like it much more!

I love this stick, it turns my TV into a smart TV and I can get darn near any app that I want. I bought a TV with Roku installed and then bought the sticks for two of my daughters and bought another Roku television for my other daughter.
Easy to use, plug it in and into the TV and your just making menta away from finding things to watch without having a cable bill.

empowering? Yes! If like me you own a good all Full HD TV without wifi or smart capabilities, this is a must addition. Sure, there are many alternatives, but by far Roku is the absolute best. It was super easy to install, and I didn't had to do a thing to set up the remote for controlling the whole TV.
My only complaint is that it got way too hot when connected directly behind my TV (a Samsung), and it couldn't get enough power from the unit's own USB outlet. I had to get a small HDMI extension cord and used the provided with the roku stick. Other than that, I feel I have like a brand new TV set.

I bought this for my grandmother so she could avoid renting another cable box. It is easy to use and to set up. My grandmother wanted something simple that would control the TV power and volume without having multiple remotes. This fit the bill perfectly. It was on sale after Christmas, so it was also a great deal. One time purchase of $35 instead of a monthly $10 on her cable bill for an extra box. Plus, it is small and did not require a shelf. A bonus, since the TV she wanted it for is mounted on the wall. Initial set up took me less than ten minutes, and a total of 45 minutes after I downloaded her cable app, and a few others and spent a few minutes showing her how it all worked. She was delighted to have access to music and movies as well as regular TV programming.

This device will get you closer to getting rid of your cable tv expenses or save you money if want to stay with cable tv. I can now get connected to my cable company with this Roku device and eliminate my need for an additional cable box. I’ve replaced 2 cable boxes with Roku devices, saving $20 per month on my cable bill. The only disadvantage with Roku is the remote. They don’t make a numeric keypad so you need to scroll through all the channels to get to the one you want. It’s easy to hook up and use. Picture quality is excellent. You also get access to multiple apps offering free tv shows and movies.

This streaming stick is fast and handles all the apps you could possibly need. Nearly as fast as the Ultra. Very easy to set up and the ability of the remote to control the volume and power of the TV is a big plus.

This the third iteration of Roku Streaming Sticks (RSS) I've purchased, and with each newer version, they get noticeable better. This latest version will even turn your TV on and off, and will adjust the volume. The boot process takes MUCH less time than prior versions; this one is up and running in seconds. I recall the first gen RSS taking so long, I had time to make a snack.
Along with this great product, the Roku app has gotten much better. The apps that you have installed on your stick are in the exact same layout in the app. That's a nice feature when you're too comfortable to move, and your remote is WAYYY over there!! (6 feet away... but still)
Although the Firestick is probably outselling the Roku (more so for its versatility), for my money, this is the better product

If you're thinking about getting a streaming stick for your TV, I highly recommend - get the Roku. It's easy to install (just plug in to an HDMI port in the back of your tv. Roku is BY FAR the most user friendly streaming stick. I watch all my favorite streaming channels (Netfilx, Hulu, Prime, MLB, Britbox, YouTube and more) because of my Roku stick. If you want to make your TV "smart" or have the ability to access Netflix, etc - then get the Roku - it really is better (I know because I bought an Amazon Fire Stick to compare - and Roku was much better). And I recommend the basic Roku stick, this one was on sale so I got it - I haven't used the "voice" feature yet but it's nice to have it. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Easy to set up and get running on my older tv. While not exactly plug and play, it's close. Just follow what it tells you to do with on screen directions and the enclosed booklet. Volume is on the remote, which is helpful. What's not to love? It let me cut the cord; no more cable with an outrageous bill. I can subscribe to what I want for as long as I want to for a reasonable price. Or I don't have to subscribe to anything at all and still have more than enough to watch for free. Each tv requires a stick, but the price is right. Not sure? Buy one, try it out, and then decide to keep the cable or not.

This is the 3rd Roku I've purchase over the years. My new stick has voice commands, volume control, and power on/off for TV. I no longer have the need to use 2 remotes. The Roku device is all I need. I only had one issue and that is the stick was overheating. It's nice that you get a warning of this on the screen so you don't damage anything; I called Roku's customer service and they were very helpful. Turns out in most cases the overheating is caused by not having enough room to properly connect the stick to your HDMI port on your TV. Roku will send you an extension dongle to solve the problem for free. Only took 3 days to get the dongle and it solved the problem nicely.

Some of the apps are really good (like Netflix, VRV) but the rest of them are buggy with what doesn't seem like any support or updates. It's easy to use especially if you don't have a smartTV, but I prefer it because of the easy access netflix button (saves time) and the incredibly comfortable remote control, even though the voice search feature is incredibly faulty (keeps asking to repeat, can't hear you even though you're screaming at the remote).
Roku as a whole charges for everything so there is no point in trying to watch any of their featured items, especially because they aren't quality content and you'll end up being directed outside of the OS. So you essentially only need this if you a) don't have a smart TV, b) only watch netflix or crunchyroll/VRV, or both.
It's a good cop for the price.

I purchased this Roku as a way to save money with Comcast. I found out that Roku incorporates an XFINITY app that allows you to stream all programs from Xfinity that I subscribed to. I use it in place of a xfinity box and save $10 dollars per month. I just wish there was a channel up and down to scroll through channels. There also lots of free movies included. Overall pleased.
