I tried the latest Google Chromecast Ultra 4K first, but the lack of a dedicated remote was a pain. Exchanged it for this Roku Ultra, paid a few scant bucks more, and am as happy as a lark. This is the best streaming device I've encountered, and I have owned quite a few. HD Streaming is smooth, app choices are extensive, and the user interface is easy and intuitive. I like the remote, too.

I am very pleased with my Roku-Ultra Streaming player for my Sony 4k Bravia. The clarity is amazing! The included remote is basic but you get use to it.

This is an unbelievable streaming media device. I bought this to go with a new UHD TV and it has been beyond my expectations. I was using a Roku streaming stick in the past but the speed and quality of the device is beyond any streaming product or PC I have used before. The voice command and sound through the remote are nice features as well. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

This is a very good stand alone video/audio player. It comes with pre-installed media applications such as Netflix & Hulu.. You can also go to Roku's web site and select from many more. The unit also plays videos from your own source, such as a stand alone hard drive, or a networked system with DLNA. The video quality is sharp and colors vibrant. It looks excellent on my 65" television.

I upgraded my Roku from HD to a 4K , the picture is outstanding and the unit is so much more faster.

Like the interface. Roku needs volume control like the Apple TV and need to improve the psvue app. That app is horrible on the roku

I bought this player for the sole purpose of watching Twin Peaks: The Return. However, it also opened the door to many free channels and the Amazon video channel that I get with a Prime account. I bought the ultra because it. Offered the capability for 4K, 5.1, and a media player. The unit works flawlessly as long as a high quality HDMI cable is connected. With the versatility of this unit, cable TV is a thing of the past.

This was easy to set up, and works well. I like the on-screen format and the appearance of the apps. The only drawback is that it does not allow daisy-chaining with other devices. I have three input devices (Roku, Blu-ray player, and DVR) but only two inputs in my Receiver, so I had to buy a separate HDMI switch. With my old Visio device I did not have to do that. I would have given this 5 stars but for that drawback.

The Roku - Ultra Streaming Media Player provides ease of setup, and access to hundreds of streaming providers. I also like that I can play movie files from a USB attached device or NAS. The ability to connect ear plugs into the remote to use at night is amazing, and voice commands to search for movies is ok for a novelty. Small size fits away in a cabinet for hidden use.

I purchased this mainly to run Plex, and it does a great job of that. The Plex interface for Roku is much better than the one on the TV. That said, my kids love streaming YouTube on the Roku as well. The interface is better than most. Only gripe is that the remote buttons are not programmable - Roku must be getting a lot of revenue from NetFlix, Hulu, etc... but since I don't use those services the buttons are a waste.

I can run this through my old stereo. Too bad Roku is getting rid of this option on its newer units.

The Ultra outputs the clearest video of any streamer I've used... I literally turn my projector sharpness to -5 and the picture really shines. I like the optical output because I have a separate projector and receiver. Plus there's ethernet and a great selection of apps. The only drawback is that there is no zoom or aspect correction like the Apple TV or Xbox One (I prefer to fill the screen when watching movies).

The nvidia shield is my number one recommendation, however, if you don't have the cash for it, this is a close runner up. It can decode x265.

It's very hard to find, but if you look at the comparison chart on the Roku website, you'll see that this is the only one with a USB port.

I've used roku's for a few years now. And I recommend them over using most of those "smart TV" features. Primary reason: processing power. I can't stand menu and app delay, regardless of if streaming is problem free. (To that end, I've always opted for the higher end roku's, (e.g. I've never had one that did not have network port (hard wired is ALWAYS better than wifi if it's an option, PowerLine Networking* is often worth setting up to avoid having to have your main streaming device connected via wifi. I have my complaints and gripes with this particular device and Roku's in general. But overall, they are what I typically recommend to my friends/clients (IT Consultant) as the the product line that is better than the competition for general purpose streaming. *Some houses just are more "compatible" than others when using power line networking. Pick devices that are rated for 200mbps+ (like wifi, they rarely achieve the rated speed,) choose a respectable brand, and stay away from the cheaper ones (online.) TP-Link has lots of good options. If they don't work pretty much right out of the box, (sometimes setup is required,) just return them and go back to wifi. If you have to jump through hoops to get the powerline networking to link/make a good connection, you're in a house that they don't play well in. Sometimes you can get them to work, but I would expect reliability/performance to be equal or (probably) less than wifi that case, so you'd be complicating things without getting a benefit.

The device tops all the others before it. I was wanting to experience the UHD that I was seeing in the stores and the device delivers!!!
