I have been with Roku since the company first started. We cut the cord on cable way back in 2008 and the roku has been an indispensable media player in our home. As a graphic designer and computer graphics professional, I use my model for slideshows & presentations, business use, church use and personal use. I find the quality of the video and audio to far exceed that of Apple TV. I have owned nearly every model of the roku set-top box that supports full-HD and UHD. Currently, my family owns 3 roku devices and the Roku Ultra has been the most stable and powerful version yet: flawless speedy setup, superior speed, Zero crashes, stalls or audio issues. Wifi range is killer and no lag in app performance either. The option for wired LAN is great for connection directly to switches and routers for even more network speed and for connecting to media servers. Bluetooth support is powerful but my absolute favorite feature is the 3D audio (via headphone jack) on the remote. Listening to your favorite shows, movies, anime or music with the wireless remote audio through over-the-ear vmoda headphones is an experience you MUST TRY! The Roku Ultra is a great model with outstanding video quality--this model delivers. Don't have UHD yet? Don't sweat it, this model provides a better image than any roku model yet due to its better graphics hardware--even on standard HD. Quite simply, it's a no-compromise media center in a tiny box. Other models suffered from lack of coloring. This unit stays cool!

After searching through the products out there for cutting the cable cord I settled on the Roku Ultra. I like the smooth streaming and great 4k picture. Setup was very easy and came with a 4k HDMI cord.

I've owned several Roku players and since my current unit is aging I wanted to upgrade to a newer model. As with past players this one did not disappoint. Much faster loading and suburb picture quality.

The box is great! It is super fast, sleek, and you don't need to be in line of sight for the remote. One of the reasons I bought this is because rumor has it that DIRECTV now will be streaming in 4K so I am looking forward to that app in 2017. I like the auto function that determines is your tv is 4K and if it is HDR compatible. I had the Roku 4 and was it worth the upgrade, not really, but I'm looking forward to pushing the power of this box. Roku is so much better than Apple TV!

Roku is genius invention. Its so easy to stream, so easy to set up, using your phone as remote control is awesome for when remote is misplaced. I tell everyone to get this product.

Once again I love this new Roku. Simple installation and picture is great, GUI is easy to use in my home theater. Still waiting to get a 4K tv but great with my projector and TVs.

Works for my needs. HDMI through my pass through stereo for awesome stereo sound through my amp when needed. Works well with Sling. They have also added Playstation Vue app along with many additional no charge on demand apps. Awesome aquarium scene when in standby. One of the main reasons I choose this device is that is works with a physical remote control, versus a cheesy cell phone app. The remote they send you works on RF and not IR. So to use a universal remote for everything, you have to purchase a separate IR remote from Roku to program your universal controller (Roku Ultra works either way). This small box replaced a huge FIOS box.

Fast, sleek and great performance for the price. Interface is still a bit clunky for my taste but easy to use for everyone. It’s my default recommendation for streaming players.

Bought this once direct tv now was available on roku. I hated the last apple tv especially the remote. I love the roku interface and picture is magnificent

GO STRAIGHT TO ROKU ULTRA. Once you are viewing a decent size display, versus a laptop or your desktop which both have local semi-private speakers, you will quickly find that the ROKU ULTRA headphone audito-jack is indispensable. There is nothing like watching 47" and hearing every word as everyone else in the SAME room does their own thing. Or laughing at some late, late show and still maintaining that degree of quiet as others sleep. ROKU has many channels but you will focus on your favorite needs. ROKU ULTRA really takes much of the trauma out of cutting the cord.

I had only previously used the original Roku, and the 3rd and 4th generation Apple TV before this purchase. I was very pleased with how quick this runs, and how simple and easy it is to use. I will say that I do not use the microphone feature that much (I thought I would), but I am impressed with the how much content is 4K on the roku compared to other devices. Just a great buy.

Huge improvement over the Roku 4 (no more loud fan noise for starters). Really only need this version of the Roku if you have high-speed Wi-Fi (or you can plug in directly to your router), have a 4k TV, have access to 4k content (e.g. a 4k Netflix subscription, rent or own 4k movies on Amazon, Vudu, Google Play, etc), and if you want voice-search capability on your Roku remote. Otherwise, you probably don't need the best of the best Roku...there are several other Roku versions that are great for regular HD content.

I own several streaming devices: Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and this my 3rd Roku device and my favorite by far. It is really fast but best of all it is not proprietary! The voice search gives you all options without bias unlike Fire TV or Apple TV. The picture quality is outstanding and the interface is clean. I can't recommend it enough.

Pros: Small. Simple to set up and use. Plethora of apps for viewing shows. RF remote, so the unit can be stashed out of site. 4K. USB and MicroSD ports. Plays files from my NAS with rarely an issue. Wireless AC and wired connections have had no connection or data rate problems. Cons: Limited multimedia playback (which I knew about). Can't find any information on playing sub-titles or alternate audio tracks on files it does play, so I rely on my XBox1S. Roku media player mixes meta-data and file names for sorting in folders. Player will show duplicate files... they play, but it's really odd. Cover picture for one file will be used on other files. Has some sizing issues with files not exactly 4:3 (so does my Samsung 4K tv). USB port cannot power a portable hard drive. Online registration to use. Roku has changed my background from what I had setup... didn't care for the NCAAB theme that suddenly appeared without any prompting/permission. Doesn't turn off. Other: Doesn't get as warm compared to other media players I've owned. No track navigation with multimedia files. Really like my WD Live, but it's starting to have USB connection issues and there's no reason to have it plugged in when the wife can access what she wants and the Xbox can play what the Roku won't. Would be nice if VLC had a Roku app or Roku improved their media player. Not a fan of the included screen savers.

Nothing compares or comes even close to the Roku devices. I've got the roku 3, and now given my latest purchase of a 4k tV I made the jump to the premier given 4k content. No need to even look beyond Roku. They are the leaders, their devices are well built, faster then everyone else, the most available content and apps. Apple tv, Amazon Fire, etc are nothing more then followers barely able to compete. Don't take my advise simply google search roku reviews and they will speak for themselves.

The Roku Ultra is perfect for 1080p Televisions, but if you want 4K without the unit getting too hot, pick up an Nvidia Shield TV. I had an ultra, but gave it to the in-laws, as 4k seemed to get the device very warm. After looking at the specs l, I discovered the Shield was $100 more, but 10 times more processing power. The device is ventilated and stays cool.

Like this item very much, very fast, easy to use. Roku makes it mandatory to register online and enter a code prior to activation, but the process is simple. Almost immediately you are able to stream contents. We were using an outdated blu ray dvd for streaming, so the Roku Ultra was 100% improvement.

This new Roku Ultra is exactly what I was looking for (headphone jack, lost remote button, voice search, and instant 7 second replay) all on one product. I would give it 5 stars except for that annoying problem with all Roku's, including this one. It still occasionally automatically restarts, even when watching something. Wish they would fix that.

I get all I want by streaming! Cut cable; go Roku! I thought I was going to miss live TV, but I was wrong. I get off-the-air HD local channel and some others, like Spanish channels. I don't speak Spanish, so there you go. I subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime (comes free with Amazon Prime shipping). I can see everything I want when I want. Roku Ultra is fast, small, and easy to use. You can attach the included headphones directly to the remote for private, or late-night, viewing. There are apps that cover just about anything you want to watch. The one thing I haven't figured out yet is how to turn it off. When I switch to another input device, the Roku appears to go to sleep. However, even though the power light is off, when I switch to the input for the Roku, the screen saver is running even though the light is still off. Don't get me wrong though; Roku is a great streaming device. I'm glad I bought the Roku Ultra and I would absolutely recommend Roku Ultra to anyone who asks!

Easy to use, many available programd and much easier and quicker then those built in to smart TVs.
